Lifespan of animals...Greys up there!

Worked for me as well. To think I will be 100 by the time our 2 greys reach their life span of 73. Is this the life span in the wild though, wouldn't it be a bit different in captivity? Maybe take off 10-20 years from that.

Had to laugh at some of the animals they had there, snapping turtle, hellbender, cotton mouth mocassin, what sort of names are those, . Some of the other animals on the list I have no idea what they are.

yes i think it would be quite a bit different, i would be happy to get anywhere near 50 years out of poppy.B)

Has anyone on the forum actually had a parrot die naturally and no the exact age of it? that would be good if someone new of anyone who have been through this.

It seems like a good chart except for the dog one.I havent had a dog yet that lived 22 or past. All mine died like 14..My cat died at 16

Usually small dogs outlive larger breeds however my mom just lost a husky at age 22. That is very unusual. Of course my father refused to put her down any time sooner where perhaps some might have given in.

I don't buy this list. 22 years for a dog is unheard of. I always thought AG had lifespans in the 30-40 year range. While birds like cockatoo can live to 90.

I understood that Greys lived to 70 plus. Most animals live longer in captivity than in the wild, but the way Greys are (un)cared for maybe that isn't realistic. Some cats and dogs do reach 20+ human years. I've met some.;)

My mom's dog lived to be 22 and it was a Husky. Usually small dogs live longest. Best to prepare a will for our birds.;)

This dog is about how my mom’s dog looked. Poor thing.

I bet the charts aren't too accurate because the easy solution is to "put them down."<br><br>Post edited by: Mel, at: 2008/07/22 00:05
