danmcq
Depends on if your aksing that question about the person holding your Grey or your Grey. The person holding "Him" is a Girl. I just answered what sex I think the Grey is. B)
Lyric
I'm going to guess female. The eyes look very round to me, and it's a myth I know, but they say females have more round shaped eyes and males more almond shaped. It will be interesting to see what it turns out to be! Jane08
I would say female as well, she looks exactly like our female. Our male looks totally different.
Lauri
By the shape of the head I'm guessing.....female.
Talon
Trustdace wrote: Wild guess Talon? The head appears to be smaller, I think the males have a larger head...just my uneducated opinion. There is no way to be sure with out a DNA test.

Toni
If that's a female then Alcazar looks girly because Alcazar looks like that and of course he is male. I'll say male.

Trustdace
Well I'm having trouble finding someone to dna Congo. Surprisingly there are not many vets in Miami who do it. The wife ordered a kit from the net where you cut the parrots nail(called the quick) and you let a couple of drops of blood soak onto the paper then send it in. But I don't want to hurt my bird! I think I found a vet who will do it professionaly for $150 in the next week or so.
kittykittykitty
I wouldn't want to do the test myself either. I think Congo is male:lol:
Toni
So far Dan,Kitty and I say male..... Wow 150.00 for DNA test?!!?? Yea I couldnt hurt my baby like that either.Knowing me I would ball my eyes out. {Feel-bad-0002006A}
siobha9
Why don't you do a feather test? All you need to do is pluck 3 or 4 feathers from the chest area and send them off... it costs about £20. That would be a lot less traumatic, not to mention less expensive. Check avianbiotech.com
Connie
I would put money on it, that it is a FEMALE.
Connie
I also heard that only male greys could have white toe nails, anyone else know about this? Spanky has 3 white nails, and Darla's are all black. Congo looks like a BIG bird either way!
Trustdace
yeah I found someone to do the dna test on saturday for $40. My breeder recomended him.
Trustdace
Well thanks for the replies you guys and i love Connies pics depicting male and female birds thanx! Anyway I DNA sexed Congo 7/26/08, last saturday. We will know for sure in about a week. Until then, the guy who DNA'd Congo said from his experience that it is most likely a female. I myself am guessing it is a male.
dblhelix
I am going with female too! Its really not possible to tell the sex based on any of the physical theories that some people believe. They come in all shapes and sizes and can vary significantly based on their genetic lineage and the part of Africa their ancestors came from... http://www.africanature.com/Project%20Africa/wildgreys.htm
