greenwinged
Saw this on a site today, can anyone tell me what a African Grey Cameroon is? Thanks!
Nekkyousha
An african grey cameroon is mistaken as a new species of grey, it is in fact justwhen people see a larger congo, just born a little bigger, they vary in size. They are called cameroon because smugglers used to smuggle them from a place called Cameroon and therefore they got that name. Only two species of grey, congo and Timneh
Nekkyousha
lol my post sounded a little silly repeating myself but thats the gist of it. A lot of people seem to get it into their heads its some type of new grey
greenwinged
Ok, that intesting and kinda fun, the breeder was sale congo at 900 and the cameroom at 1000... I bet someone would be real mad to fine out that is was the same bird!
Nekkyousha
hmmm i bet! maybe the breeders cameroon grey actually comes from that place, so thats why they have named it that? not such an amazing breeder to think there are more than two species  i hope i havent gotten my facts wrong but the fact the cameroon isnt another species has been drummed into my head for a very long time. perhaps do a little research and see what you come up with
Louisejane
I think Eddie must be a so called "Cameroon" or maybe he just eats way too much!
Nekkyousha
haha well the species doesnt exist, so when people want to identify one, they simply point to a congo that was born a little bigger and go 'thats a cameroon!' but nope just a congo ^^ people shouldnt try to use greys as profit
Louisejane
I'll have to break the news to Eddie tonight that he's just a slighter larger than average Congo afterall, wish me luck!
danmcq
Nekkyousha is right on the money with her facts regarding a "Cameroon" species. It is stated in several articles and studies that the CAG species is larger or a little smaller depending on which area of Africa they are from i.e coastal with a seemingly larger abundance of food versus the sparser in-lands areas where they must search more for the fewer foods available. Louisejane - you can call him what you like, as long as it's not FAT :-) Then he might get an attitude. B)
Louisejane
I wouldn't dare call him fat Dan, don't want to risk a revenge nip!!:pinch:
danmcq
LOL LouiseJane!! I would love to see some more up-close photos the BIG Guy. How much does he weigh?
Louisejane
I have absolutely no idea how much he weighs Dan, although he's had his checks from the vet, we've never actually had him weighed. When we first got him from his old home, he was so tense and angry with everyone we didn't like to stress him out too much. Starting to think about how to get him on my baking scales this afternoon?? Eddie.... peanut....
Louisejane
Ooh, forgot to say that I shall post some more pics this weekend Dan. I'll ask him to pose next to the dog so you can compare sizes!
