  1. Thanks, I think I described this a bit wrong. Its not actually along his breastbone, more at the bottom of his breastbone. Kind of between the bottom of his breatbone and his bottom! Not sure if this is where the breastbone ends or not, just took be unawares!
  2. This might sound really silly but I wondered whether or not a birds breastbone sticks out much? Eddie let me stroke his belly last night which he doesn't normally tolerate. When I stroked near the bottom of his belly it felt quite pronounced and bony! Is this normal or something I should get checked out? I have never been able to stroke his tummy before so I'm not sure what should and shouldn't be there!
  3. Hi Jeanese Just wanted to say hang in there. Your story is so similar to ours! We adopted Eddie just over a year ago now and he too had been cooped in his cage as his owners had two dogs which they adored. However, Eddie was only two so he hadn't spent that long cooped up but long enough. The first thing he did when we brought him home was bite me so hard I cried! It took me so long to gain the confidence to be near his beak again! I decided to camp out near Eddies cage. We gave him a couple of weeks to get used to the room then I moved the arm chair right next to his cage. I ate next to him, watched TV near him and made everything look really fun! Bit by bit he got more and more interested and started coming onto his bars to get a closer look. I also opened his doors on an evening, it took him months before he would come out and when he did he just stayed on the top of his cage. He then started to come down for treats and then pets and now he behaves like a little kitty and loves to bed down on the sofa and be stroked. However, he does not like my husband all that much so we're starting the basic training all over again but with hubby so Eddie gets used to him too. Its been 17 months now since we rehomed Eddie and we're still getting used to each other but you will get there Jeanese. It takes them a long time to realise you are different to the people who treat them badly but they will come round. best of luck!
  4. Ooh, forgot to say that I shall post some more pics this weekend Dan. I'll ask him to pose next to the dog so you can compare sizes!
  5. I have absolutely no idea how much he weighs Dan, although he's had his checks from the vet, we've never actually had him weighed. When we first got him from his old home, he was so tense and angry with everyone we didn't like to stress him out too much. Starting to think about how to get him on my baking scales this afternoon?? Eddie.... peanut....
  6.  Someone say something??
  7. I wouldn't dare call him fat Dan, don't want to risk a revenge nip!!:pinch:
  8. If my daughter could do that I would be making serious money from her Jaguar!
  9. I'll have to break the news to Eddie tonight that he's just a slighter larger than average Congo afterall, wish me luck!
  10. I think Eddie must be a so called "Cameroon" or maybe he just eats way too much!
  11. Screaming %$&*!£!!! across the living room when visitors are here:unsure: . My daughter certainly would not get away with this. And I swearthat the language was taught by previous owners.
  12. Has Lucy posted a picture of the new guy yet? I'm bursting to see him and maybe a name will be easier to chose and he may just look like a "Sterling", or Ethel"!
  13. {Feel-good-000200BB} I never even thought of that Dan, although its me that does the hoovering, thats a genious idea!!
  14. Thanks everyone. Eddie loves me cleaning up the mess as he likes to find extra bits and bobs to throw while I'm doing it! As if I don't have enough to do already!! Yeah JG, I'm sure they would do the same.....
  15. I was just wondering how often greys molt and how I would know when they are molting? Eddie is around the age of 4 now. The last few days I have notice quite a few feathers at the bottom of his cage each time I change the paper. Most of them are red tail feathers and mostly small fluffy ones but there have been two large (I think primary) feathers I have found too. He doesn't look any worse for it but I wondered if this could be a molt or maybe a problem starting to happen? I haven't noticed any plucking although he does clean himself alot, but no more than usual. Any idea's? Thanks!
