Acappella
So Dorian has always been very quiet at night, but for the past 5 weeks or so he’s been more active. I'm hearing talking, whistles, bell ringing etc . . . through the night. Should I be concerned that he's not getting his sleep? He's not napping during the day, so he’s not showing any signs of being sleep deprived. Nothing has changed in his room or in my nighttime activity/noise levels. Are your birds active during the night?
neoow
How strange - does he have a cover over his cage? I've not really had this with Alfie. He doesn't have a cover over his cage because he always pulled them off so I gave up on the idea years ago but he's normally pretty good at settling down and staying quiet overnight. He's also pretty good in the mornings as he'll tend to wait for me to wake up and start moving around before he makes a load of noise. At the moment, Alfie is housed in the room next to my bedroom so I have to walk past it to get to the bathroom. So he'll sometimes say "hello", "night night" or ruffle his feathers at me as I wander past and back again in the middle of the night. But other than that I've never really known him to make loads of noise or move around much overnight.

He has his own room with room darkening drapes which has always been sufficient in the past.
Timbersmom
Are there any new noises? Is it possible there is a change in light source? Just trying to think of things that might be causing this.

I can think of literally nothing that has changed. He's got a nightlight. The drapes take care of any other light. I mean, it's a little brighter in there at bedtime simply because it's lighter outside and the drapes don't obscure 100% of the daylight, but that's never caused this in previous years.
neoow
This is a real long shot- but your neighbours don't have any bright lights (e.g security lights) pointing at the room/window he's in, do they? I only ask because my neighbours are a nightmare for leaving their outside lights on... although they don't shine directly into the house they do get through the blinds and light up my ceiling in my bedroom. It's more irritating when their flashing solar lights are blinking away well into the early hours.

I have a privacy fence in the backyard that blocks anything like that.

SRSeedBurners
Spring time? Huey just started his ritual of biting his feet and acting like a crazed bat.

I guess it's possible. He's never really changed his behaviour in the spring before, but they're always full of surprises, aren't they.
Charlie Parker
Well hopefully your doing well, sometimes our closest buddies can pick up on our emotions and just want to be near us when they sense somethings off. My guys know when I'm not happy and they do get restless at night. Just a thought.
