Moulting

How old is a grey when they have their first moult. My Rio is 6 months old and losing lots of feathers. He is not plucking. He has new pin feathers on his neck as I can feel them when petting him. I have read that the first mould isn’t until they are between 12 and 18 months old. He is such a character. He is also saying lots of new words since lockdown as we spend a lot of time together. A bit of advise would be appreciated in case this is not a normal moult. j
