Pin feathers

Hi my 6 month old grey has tiny pin feathers around his neck and his red tail feathers are coming out. He is not plucking.  Could he be moulting as I read this doesn’t happen until they are around 12 months old. I spray him most mornings which he loves. bHe is such a character. Since lockdown and me working from home his vocabulary has come on great. He now says hello Rio. Giz a kiss. Rio is a pretty boy. Wolf whistles. And does the theme tune to laurel and hardy.

Hi! 6 months of age is about the age when they go through their first molt. It sounds like you're doing everything well! Misting and bathing will definitely help.

Pin feathers are where new feathers are coming through- so he is either moulting or still having some feathers come through. Perfectly normal. They might be a bit itchy at times so the extra bathing and misting will definitely help.
