LNCAG
My grey adores tearing up paper towel tubes and corrugated cardboard. I also offer toilet paper tubes but I let those 'sit' a while (3 or 4 months) before offering them to him. My main concern is cardboard. For interior cardboard (product comes in brown cardboard but is shipped inside a larger (Amazon usually) box. I figure that inner product box wasn't handled much -- but the outside packaging may have been exposed to a LOT of stuff. What do YOU do? I honestly cannot keep up with my parrot's demand for cardboard. He will chew wood sometimes, but he's a cardboard fanatic!!!
Timbersmom
Timber is a cardboard fanatic too. I'll admit to not worrying much as long as I get the tape and gummy stuff off!
Greytness
I agree. Sydney, one of my 3 greys, gets a small sheet of cardboard daily to tear up. It's one of his absolutely favorite activities to do. I remove the tape and don't give him any dirty or gummy pieces. Only pure, relatively clean cardboard.
SRSeedBurners
It better be safe. Kermey goes through a box per week in my office. Posing in front of his latest project:
neoow
Alfie loves shredding boxes and it's difficult to keep up with the habit. I remove tape and don't use boxes which are dirty or look like they have been kicked aorund.
LNCAG
Had to make several purchases (new sink faucet, cacti pots, portable dvd player and some tools, etc. for bathroom repairs) which all had the neatest cut-out cardboard inside. Cardboard with huge cut-outs, lots of curves and bends ... all looked like clean plain brown cardboard, and my grey is in cardboard heaven! It might be enough to last a couple days! Or not. Yannoe how greys are. I usually end up with the inside packaging consisting of the dreaded no-no-no styrofoam cut-outs inside product boxes (or, if I'm lucky -- there's paper pulp inside packaging, which I admit, I use for my red runner colony; so Snickers doesn't get to chew that). Snickers is so deprived of paper pulp! lol Paper pulp forms are so hard to find, an buying eggs alone doesn't provide enough for my B lat (red runner) colony -- and buying new unused egg flats gets expensive FAST! Win win on inside box packaging this week of consumer spending. 🥯
