carolz7 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I have totally died and gone to heaven. Why do these birds have to be so darn expensive. This guy is amazing. He is 5 years old but acts like a baby.
Timbersmom Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 oooooo you will be the envy of everyone on the forum!
JeffNOK Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 What fun you must be having! How long will you be babysitting that beautiful Hyacinth? Does it belong to a friend? Enjoy!
Greytness Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Beautiful! But, OMG, that beak looks like a can opener!
SRSeedBurners Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 He's huge! Is that beak normal? Looks massively overgrown to me but I know zip about macaws.
ShaneO Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!!!!! I would not like to get bit by him..... My friend has a Macaw, her beak is not as long only cause he has it trimmed. All pics i have seen of the Hyacinth have HUGE beaks.
Greywings Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Hy beaks are more like wrench than a can opener they can crack Macadamia nuts which are super hard.
Luvparrots Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Oh I am so jealous. That is the parrot I want, a beautiful/comical looking Hyacinth. Can't wait to hear more about this adventure with us!!!! Please share...... 1
Brat Birds Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Lucky you!! I got to play with one for a couple of hours and loved every minute of it. They are solid and heavier than they look. I think the beak looks just fine. They are usually so gentle with that big beak.
Ray P Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 They are so majestic in their appearance. I am in awwwwwwe. 1
judygram Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 The gentle giants, they are lovely birds and lucky you Carol to get to have one stay with you for a bit, enjoy.
murfchck Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 They are beautiful. I got to be around a few here and one that would let you hand him a nut, took it from the side of his mouth, its cute but sure is scary that way. He cocked his head like he was going to bite but then stuck out his tongue and took it so gently. They are awesome birds and you are so lucky!
Inara Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 What a beauty! And how fun for you. Thanks for sharing the fun and the gorgeousness!
Quirky Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Oh yea definitely some jealousy over here. How amazing! I will be happy just to see one in person, perhaps one day my time will come. Enjoy him extra just for me please! Perhaps sneak in a treat on my behalf
kittykittykitty Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 What a wonderful, special time for you! I, too, dreamed of having of having one after I saw movies of them in the wild. It was just a dream.
Acappella Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Has your babysitting adventure ended yet? How hard was it to give that beauty back to its parronts?
carolz7 Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Oh yes it was only for a few days. It was so very hard i so want to just keep him. Will get to baby sit next month for a week. You will be seeing more pics for sure.
birdhouse Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 This is another bird I would love, love, love to see in the wild. One is magnificent. How incredible would it be to see a flock? 1
