Tari
Birds do just fine as long as the tempt change is gradual and you bird is in good health. Out on the parrot farm where I work we never turn on any heat unless it well get down to freezing. Don't know anything about heated perches. I don't run heat in my house at all at night in the winter. But when it gets really cold I'll run some in the living room where my birds stay so they stay about 60 degrees. danmcq
Tari is right, they will acclimate to the house temperature. But, a heated perch would be fine and your Grey might appreciate the warmth. :-) Our breeder has huge aviaries outside with Macaws, Grey's, Conures, Ringnecks etc. with no heat. They all do just fine in the Winter at temperature down to freezing.

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/09/13 14:
judygram
If that is what they are used to they will be just fine, it is the sudden change that could possibly harm them. Whatever you are comfortable with is fine with them.
lovemyGreys
We had another thread on heated perches http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/29066-thermo-heated-perch.html#29160
Toni
Yes, that was my thread I think... I live in the North area. I plan on getting a heated perch because at night I do plan on turning down my heat.I gets cold in PA. Plus I will have a cover at night for Alcazar's cage.
