  1. Not sure I'm in good enough with the mods to get you banned I hardly ever comment in that group, I usually just look at Greybies and watch videos, mainly gawking at all the fabulous talkers while mine sits here mute as a brick (grrrr...). I didn't see what started Joshua's rant (which is not shown in my pic) but seeing what happened to me, maybe the other guy wasn't such an ass after all. I'm guessing ol Joshy can't seem to take what he dishes out so he runs to the mods and whines. I was really surprised I got the boot from those two comments.
  2. GreyForums has very little traffic as the 4 or 5 of us know. I'm also on Avian Avenue and rarely post because there's too many there. So today, I was perusing the 'African Grey Parrots' group on FB as I do the 15 or so bird groups I'm subscribed too and came across this posting which I felt compelled to reply to. Check out my conversation which got me banned. Pictured is a thread off the main topic where 'Joshua' got his little feelings hurt because he decided to tie one on with a far-right leaning individual and lost. However Joshua is in good with the mods so of course cronyism is in play here. I took him to task for his liberal misuse of the term snowflake...and got myself banned. oh...I'm the dude with the cute little Caique as an avatar
  3. Not sure if the plants currently there are even safe to be around birds. I hate to remove them as one is planted above our beloved Raven that we lost four years ago and the other is planted above Pickles, the bird my daughter lost. We may have to find something else to plant above our lost babies. It is what love looks like. I've been hanging on looking for something special to spend it on and it just dropped in our lap. Imagine a car would probably have lost half the value already on it's way to valueless.
  4. This happens to be one of my absolutely favorite photos. My wife and I both noticed that with the roof on and the windows installed, it feels kind of like being in the Colorado mountains for some reason?!? Whatever, it feels different in the 'room' now and Miss GreycieMae is going to love it! She's going to have her own personal little jungle!
  5. Windows are installed! The 12ft sliding glass door is going to be one of the last things we put on. Don't want to bust that thing moving stuff in and out. That would suck!
  6. At the rate I'm going, I should be done by NEXT Christmas! The tie-in for the roof is done on both sections, this was a very difficult piece and has taken for dang'd ever. Now the professional roofer can come in and do the easy-peasy part, shingle it. Shingleing onto the panels will be tricky but he says he knows how to do it so I'm not worrying about that part. You can also see we have all but two of the 'Solar Grey' panels installed. We need some parts before we can do the ends so that's on hold for now. Remember, a GreybieGrey needs Solar Grey panels
  7. Great to hear from you again. I was getting fearful that you were dropping off the forums like so many do. I love reading these long-going threads, I always look forward to seeing them pop-up. Sorry to hear about your niece.
  8. There may be something to it. These birds, and animals in general, may be more connected other realms more than we allow ourselves. Always something to think about.

It's the start of the cold season in Texas. Make sure you have a nice heated jacket and stay warm!

    Blorb!
  15. Roof ramping to complete the tie-in between the house and the aviary is almost complete. We're looking at a couple samples of the the corrugated paneling we are going to use. This stuff is called 'SunTuf' and has a 15 year hail damage warranty. So it should standup to some abuse. We have clear (90% light transmission) and a solar grey (35% light transmission). We're thinking of going with the solar grey because of the brutal summers here. And a nice closeup of how we're doing the tie-in:
  16. I love the idea of getting Sukei a friend. My manager at work can't figure out why his grey is plucking and having issues, even though I've told him it's because the Grey is home alone all day for 10-12 hours a day. I'm not sure how you go about finding a Grey that Sukei will click with. No idea on the male vs. female. I know with my pigeons, I have certain pairs I don't want breeding so I have dummy eggs to replace their real ones. That works to suppress their egg laying and preserve the hens health.

I can see somebirdy is a bit of a show off. Pic #2, love it when they sit there all puffy and sweet faced. I'm total mush when they do that.
  18. My daughters roommate did the same thing with her cat to get around the apartments no-pet policy. Apparently there is an online service that will do it - no doctor needed. It worked for her too.
  19. I would love to but the office building we're in has a no pets policy. I have a 'keep your nasty children away from me policy" but it keeps getting broken. Which reminds me of an incident in Lowes today: two lowes chimps saw me wheeling the cart around with Greycie sitting on the end of it having her usual fun scooting around the store. I overheard one of them: "look that dude has a parrot riding on the buggy" then the other dude "great now we're going to have to pick up bird shit all over the store". I promptly turned around and confronted. Told them my Grey is trained to poop on command (she is as long as she has a fresh bomb loaded). I told them I pottied her in the parking lot before I came in (my habit so I don't have to deal with a potty in the store). Then I told him I can't stand everyone's f'n kids but I don't see you keeping them little shits out of the store.
  20. Roof cedars are nearly complete. When I was designing this I considered a completely opaque roof on part of the long section to allow for some shade. But the roof cedars are providing so much shade I think I'm going with the 'solar grey' all the way across as it is partially opaque and the cedars are blocking a lot. I don't want to create a completely dark area. Once the cedar beams are complete we can get a professional roofer in here to tie in the roof to our house. We don't want to screw that part up and create a leaking problem into the house.
  21. Alfie looks fabulous. He didn't get hit with the forum squishy.
  22. I already see a climbing rope, a plastic chain with a bell to beat on...so many things I see in that picture!
  23. Well, if that's the case, I'd make those spots his permanently. And an endless supply of cardboard shredding material. Love a busy Grey!
  24. That Christmas one is cool...but it's too soon! Me and my spooky Halloween baby are sticking with the gobblins and ghouls! Can you all believe my daughter (the human one) was born on Friday the 13th and my other daughter (GreycieMae) was born on Halloween! You can imagine they get along well and they do! Kayla has been away for 4 months in Virginia at some helo school for her Army training. She just got back in Texas this week and messaged me that she can't wait to come see GreycieMae. That left me wondering...but what about Dad? HAAHAAAHAAAHAA
  25. Haahaa...I doubt he's taking time away from Sukei. If Sukei is anything like GreycieMae, he's right there 'helping'.
