  1. Meet GreycieMae's new friend: Huey. He belongs to the fiancee of one of my wife's co-workers. They are getting married this weekend and heading to their honeymoon for a week. Not sure how it came about for us to watch Mr. Huey but I was all too eager to do it. Love seeing how Greycie reacts around another Grey. This is the first time she has seen another one since she left the breeder. He's a BIG boy. Holy cow is he heavy. No more jokes about what a fat lil fatty GreycieMae is. I think he's 20+. Has a bit of a chewing on his feet issue when he's stressed. He chewed them a little when we brought GreycieMae to see him after she left. So far they seem to be getting along - as in not trying to kill each other. Hes actual kind of sweet with her. GreycieMae being the spoiled brat, is a bit of a diva around him. Their first time in the aviary this morning and he was feeding her some pasta. Jeezzz...

GreycieMae demanding to play her Greybie Soft Taco game. She loves to roll over into a placemat and begs to be bounced around in it.
  3. Did I read that right? Alfie was offered some dinner and was not interested? Are you SURE you have an African Grey? A parrot even? I have never known a parrot to not be interested in dinner
  4. I call GreycieMae "Bratass" mostly when she's being a turd. There are benefits to having a bird that won't talk.
  5. Walls and roof are fully enclosed on the 'littles' room as I call it. It's trimmed out on the inside but still needs some finishing on the outside. Also waiting for the tiling tie-in and then it can be painted and the door put on. Inside: Outside: And the Greybie GreycieMae's room. Did I mention that working with insulation is an itchy job?
  6. Those guys look like they need a nice dinner date with me. However, I'm not sure if you've seen my GreycieMae's Sunroom/Aviary thread...I'm up to my eyeballs in construction. Actually as of yesterday I'm up to my eyeballs in pink insulation and it itches like crazy!!! This was supposed to be done around mid-October. I'm estimating next Christmas now just to be safe. It's looks like Frita( the Grey?) has you totally whipped. They have that power you know. I do whatever is demanded of me. I swear I've seen that picture of your niece before. Did you post it here? I'm wondering if I saw it on the news? Such a sad sad situation.
  7. Western medicine is mainly pill pushing from big pharma. It took me a while but I found an internal medicine physician that I use as my main doctor that is NOT a pill pusher. Example: I had an abscess above a failed root canal several years ago that required some serious antibiotics to kill what was going on above that tooth when the dentist pulled it out. Several weeks post tooth-extraction I was curled up in bed with the worst pain I've had in a long time. My internal med doc said she has seen this with those types of antibiotics and put me on a month of probiotics to get my gut flora back in order. She's good.
  8. I believe it is a Pride of Barbados. I was hoping it could stay because it would really appreciate the warmer enclosure during the winter and wouldn't die back to the ground every year. I've seen pics where they start to look like small trees. SHooot. I need to find some safe jungle style plants for GreycieMae to sit in and proclaim herself Queen of the African savannah sunroom.
  9. Not sure I'm in good enough with the mods to get you banned I hardly ever comment in that group, I usually just look at Greybies and watch videos, mainly gawking at all the fabulous talkers while mine sits here mute as a brick (grrrr...). I didn't see what started Joshua's rant (which is not shown in my pic) but seeing what happened to me, maybe the other guy wasn't such an ass after all. I'm guessing ol Joshy can't seem to take what he dishes out so he runs to the mods and whines. I was really surprised I got the boot from those two comments.
  10. GreyForums has very little traffic as the 4 or 5 of us know. I'm also on Avian Avenue and rarely post because there's too many there. So today, I was perusing the 'African Grey Parrots' group on FB as I do the 15 or so bird groups I'm subscribed too and came across this posting which I felt compelled to reply to. Check out my conversation which got me banned. Pictured is a thread off the main topic where 'Joshua' got his little feelings hurt because he decided to tie one on with a far-right leaning individual and lost. However Joshua is in good with the mods so of course cronyism is in play here. I took him to task for his liberal misuse of the term snowflake...and got myself banned. oh...I'm the dude with the cute little Caique as an avatar
  11. Not sure if the plants currently there are even safe to be around birds. I hate to remove them as one is planted above our beloved Raven that we lost four years ago and the other is planted above Pickles, the bird my daughter lost. We may have to find something else to plant above our lost babies. It is what love looks like. I've been hanging on looking for something special to spend it on and it just dropped in our lap. Imagine a car would probably have lost half the value already on it's way to valueless.
  12. This happens to be one of my absolutely favorite photos. My wife and I both noticed that with the roof on and the windows installed, it feels kind of like being in the Colorado mountains for some reason?!? Whatever, it feels different in the 'room' now and Miss GreycieMae is going to love it! She's going to have her own personal little jungle!
  13. Windows are installed! The 12ft sliding glass door is going to be one of the last things we put on. Don't want to bust that thing moving stuff in and out. That would suck!
  14. At the rate I'm going, I should be done by NEXT Christmas! The tie-in for the roof is done on both sections, this was a very difficult piece and has taken for dang'd ever. Now the professional roofer can come in and do the easy-peasy part, shingle it. Shingleing onto the panels will be tricky but he says he knows how to do it so I'm not worrying about that part. You can also see we have all but two of the 'Solar Grey' panels installed. We need some parts before we can do the ends so that's on hold for now. Remember, a GreybieGrey needs Solar Grey panels
  15. Great to hear from you again. I was getting fearful that you were dropping off the forums like so many do. I love reading these long-going threads, I always look forward to seeing them pop-up. Sorry to hear about your niece.
  16. There may be something to it. These birds, and animals in general, may be more connected other realms more than we allow ourselves. Always something to think about.

It's the start of the cold season in Texas. Make sure you have a nice heated jacket and stay warm!

  23. Roof ramping to complete the tie-in between the house and the aviary is almost complete. We're looking at a couple samples of the the corrugated paneling we are going to use. This stuff is called 'SunTuf' and has a 15 year hail damage warranty. So it should standup to some abuse. We have clear (90% light transmission) and a solar grey (35% light transmission). We're thinking of going with the solar grey because of the brutal summers here. And a nice closeup of how we're doing the tie-in:
  24. I love the idea of getting Sukei a friend. My manager at work can't figure out why his grey is plucking and having issues, even though I've told him it's because the Grey is home alone all day for 10-12 hours a day. I'm not sure how you go about finding a Grey that Sukei will click with. No idea on the male vs. female. I know with my pigeons, I have certain pairs I don't want breeding so I have dummy eggs to replace their real ones. That works to suppress their egg laying and preserve the hens health.
