  1. Thank you for rescuing Diego from his less than ideal situation! I also have to drive 2 hours to see Dr. Kirsting in St. Louis. I was fortunate enough to find a vet who "sees birds" who is only about 20 minutes away. They do a good job on nail trims between trips to St. Louis.
  2. What a pretty bird! Hope he settles in soon.
  3. Congratulations on your new baby and best of luck on the interaction! Having only one, I have no advice for you.
  4. Ha funny! Not a lot of taste though I've heard... I do ketogenic diet too and it works for me.
  5. Beautiful baby! He's sure making fast progress. He's probably thrilled to have finally landed in a good home.
  6. I feel your pain Neoow. Timber won't eat pellets in any brand or any form. Not even in birdy bread (which he doesn't care much for anyway). In the end, we do the best we can and make sure they get some variety.
  7. Fantastic! I was thrilled to see this this morning. What a blessing that you happened to be a neighbor.
  8. What a beautiful CAG! As the others have said, they adjust slowly. Just take it easy and slow down. You are off to a great start!
  9. Hope the fireworks didn't have any ill effects on her. They don't phase Timber. His fears seem really odd to me. Fireworks, etc. don't phase him. Something bright orange will put him in a state of terror.
  10. Hello and welcome to the forum! Chjango is a beautiful bird.
  11. Ruby is a beauty! Hello and welcome to the forum. As to keeping her happy, my grey is happiest when he has my full attention.
  12. It makes me so sad to see this. Just know you are loved and appreciated, and your contributions are a legacy here. God bless you and Maggie.
  13. Timber doesn't care much for toys either. He gets past fear, but doesn't have much interest. The things he actually likes are his bells (stainless steel is safe), his stainless steel measuring spoons (they are all on a ring so they rattle), and his forage ball because it has Healthy Bits in it. Other than that, he prefers cardboard to chew on, and not in the form of a toy. More like a box I receive from Amazon with the tape pulled off. They can certainly tell a story with the vocabulary they know. I think you are making good progress. They are sooooo sloowwww to accept and change Grey time!
  14. Praying your daughter. Depression is such a difficult thing to deal with, for the sufferer and for the family.
  15. Yes, I can barely keep up with one bird and 2 cats! So sorry about the loss of Sophie. Our other two cats (19 and 18) died earlier in the year. It's never easy, even when you know it is "time."
  16. Loved the pictures! Thanks for posting
  17. At least he didn't pout! Beautiful pics.
  18. I'm always amazed when I hear an Amazon sing!

    Felix

    Love Felix!
  20. That's interesting. When Timber lifts his foot, it is always because he wants to get on my arm. Timber has a fear of hands and will only step up on my forearm.
  21. Joey was getting his strut on! Timber doesn't have much reaction to any music but metal. He will head bob and shift back and forth for that. I'm always amazed at how "human-like" they are when it comes to likes and dislikes.
  22. Timber came to us with just a couple. He calls my hubby a**hole, and says d*mn bird with some regularity. It could be much worse! He had a couple of homes (at least) prior to us, so who knows what he has been exposed to or picked up.
  23. Funny about the paper towel roll, that's one of Timbers favorite things to play with/chew on. On the other hand, anything orange in color will set off his alarms and cause a scene. I love to hear the vocalize, so hope that is OK in your situation. That's one of the things that sets them apart from the other non-human occupants of the house, their ability to communicate.
