Wonder if they would sign off on something like the following: In honor of Parront's Appreciation Day, as evidenced by my beak imprint below, I agree (only for said day) to the following: 1. I will not throw food and other items out of my cage and on to the floor/counter/furniture/window sills simply for entertainment purposes. 2. I will not dunk every-other morsel of food I choose to eat in my water bowl necessitating multiple, otherwise unnecessary water changes. 3. I will not poop (with intent) on every perch and toy on the inside of my cage while in cage, nor will I poop on non-avian flock members and restricted areas while out of the cage. 4. I will not meow like a distressed kitten to lure the felines in the house to my cage for a nibble. 5. I will not attempt to get down to the floor to terrorize said felines. 6. I will not chew on enticing yet forbidden items such as the woodwork, cabinets, sofa, kitchen implements, and non-mom human flock members. 7. I will not get snarky if my parront fails to put an artichoke on my skewer and expects me to eat other vegetables fit only for pigs and peons. 8. I will not yell "OK, BYE" when my parront is on the phone. 9. I will not call a flock member "asshole" no matter how deserving. 10. I will not say "I wanna go" then refuse to step down when the destination is reached. Oh, forget it. The list would go on and on then he would give me the stink eye and refuse to sign!

Timber's comment was... "I thought every day was parrot appreciation day."

Funny stuff! I got a laugh out of this whole thread. Phobeak indeed. Seriously though, I worked with a woman who had a bird get tangled in her hair outside (long and blowing in the wind) when she was about 5. We went to a get together at a coworkers house and they had a canary in a little cage in the living room. My coworker turned white as a sheet and almost passed out at my feet when she saw the bird. That is when she explained her fear. Hard to understand, but very real for some!

LOL to the paper towels! I hadn't even thought of that one... My biggest struggle with Timber is keeping him off the floor (because of my cats primarily). He will hang from the bottom of his cage and eyeball me around the corner, waiting for the moment I'm distracted so he can slide down the stand leg. He will pull his head around to the other side then keep peeking around the corner. Since he is aware of my limited capabilities and attention span, he knows that eventually I will have a lapse and he can attain the floor. I say "Go on Timber" and he says "Timber's a good bird." Ha, like I'm buying that!

At least you know your station! They certainly do know who really rules the roost. I often say to Timber things like "what veggie would Your Highness" like on the skewer today?

It's always such a relief to hear the vet say they are in good health. My TAG is small for a TAG too, but as the others said he makes up for it in personality! Kind of reminds me of George Jefferson (for those who remember).

Loved the pics! I'm not sure what the pleasure is in hanging upside down, preferably high up and with one talon, but they all seem to enjoy it!

Timber yawns all the time. You'd think he was bored our of his gourd!

I've seen it in up to 32 oz containers on Amazon.com. They may have larger but I haven't pursued it.

From what I've seen here, it is an entirely individual decision greys make. Timber will go anywhere, anytime, on the cage, in the cage, on me, just wherever. But, like Steve said, I've seen several others say their bird has a particular place they prefer or prefer not to go.

Yes, thank you for rescuing these two! I would take them to an avian vet for a checkup. When I rehomed my TAG last June, I took him to the vet immediately. As luvparrots said, I thought it was better to get that trauma out of the way before I started trying to build trust. Glad to hear they are both "friendly" at any rate. Just like people, rescues can have physical problems (like living conditions and bad diets) or emotional problems (from being verbally abused and mistreated). Some have both. In my opinion, the physical conditions are easier to deal with than emotional/mental abuse in a bird as smart as a grey. Good luck and God bless

Timber just proved one of these true last week. For months, the raw cauliflower on his skewer has gone untouched. This past Wednesday, the cauliflower was totally demolished. I was thrilled, since any vegetable eaten is cause for celebration. Friday, Saturday, Sunday go by, and the cauliflower was again untouched. Note to self: "Wednesday is cauliflower day. Will cause death any other day."
