  1. Great pics and what a cute little guy! Thanks for sharing.
  2. LOL! The inmates have taken over the asylum
  3. I also scan Craig's list every time. Yet another thing we grey forum members seem to have in common! Ha Hope you can do something to help this poor bird.
  4. Timber yawns all the time. You'd think he was bored our of his gourd!
  5. I've seen it in up to 32 oz containers on Amazon.com. They may have larger but I haven't pursued it.
  6. Thanks for the heads up! Funny stuff there
  7. From what I've seen here, it is an entirely individual decision greys make. Timber will go anywhere, anytime, on the cage, in the cage, on me, just wherever. But, like Steve said, I've seen several others say their bird has a particular place they prefer or prefer not to go.
  8. Glad to hear Miranda is doing so well
  9. Yes, thank you for rescuing these two! I would take them to an avian vet for a checkup. When I rehomed my TAG last June, I took him to the vet immediately. As luvparrots said, I thought it was better to get that trauma out of the way before I started trying to build trust. Glad to hear they are both "friendly" at any rate. Just like people, rescues can have physical problems (like living conditions and bad diets) or emotional problems (from being verbally abused and mistreated). Some have both. In my opinion, the physical conditions are easier to deal with than emotional/mental abuse in a bird as smart as a grey. Good luck and God bless
  10. Hello and welcome to you, Sassy and Bubba.
  11. Timber just proved one of these true last week. For months, the raw cauliflower on his skewer has gone untouched. This past Wednesday, the cauliflower was totally demolished. I was thrilled, since any vegetable eaten is cause for celebration. Friday, Saturday, Sunday go by, and the cauliflower was again untouched. Note to self: "Wednesday is cauliflower day. Will cause death any other day."
  12. That was hilarious and so true! Thanks for sharing
  13. I didn't know that the foot raising could indicate back off. That is good information. I've seen a few birds who were trained to "wave bye" and my first thought was that someone might have trained her to do that. As I understand, when someone is training it they raise their hand to get the bird to imitate. I'm particularly interested in this because Timber says "wave bye" but he doesn't wave.
  14. It you are like me you will end up trying all kinds of things you haven't before and really didn't want to. Many of the forum members find themselves eating healthier after they get a grey.
  15. Good for you and your wingless flockmate Alfie! This made me smile
  16. Ah ha! I've filled it with good things but haven't tried putting it on and walking around. I'll try that, thanks! I've had it sitting a few feet from him for a couple of weeks and will put his favorite stuff in there when he is on my arm and move it close. When I move him toward it he moves up my arm away from it. Good idea about putting it on though. I hadn't thought of that.
  17. Good progress! His refusal to eat anything new unless he sees you eating it is common for greys. Now you know your place. You are the royal "taster"
  18. Hello and welcome to you and your new bird I really have nothing to add to what the others have said. Time and patience wins the day with greys.
  19. Hello and welcome to you and Herbie! I am in the US so can't help, but I do live in a rural area here and have to order most of my stuff online. Looking forward to pics
  20. I just bit the bullet a few weeks ago and bought the pak-o-bird for greys. I didn't find anything I thought looked as nice for my purposes and that I thought would be durable. That said, I still haven't managed to get Timber in it, but we are getting there (I hope)!
  21. Hello and welcome Kelly and fids Glad to see you here. I'm in S. Illinois and also have a TAG.
  22. Hello and welcome Gail and Chloe Post some pics when you get a chance!
  23. Great pic of your underchef there! Good to see you and glad to hear all is well
