  1. I've noticed that Timber (my TAG) has a different relationship with each family member. I'm his "safety net" and the "mother" I think. When he is out and about and gets startled or scared, he runs straight up my arm or leg (whichever is closer). My 20 year old son is the one he seems to "love." He gets so excited when Dakota comes around (he is in college) that he can hardly contain himself. But, he doesn't totally trust him. My husband is his playmate. He plays ball with him, runs from one side of the cage to the other pretending to "get him" etc. Obviously, he is much superior to the cats (in his mind), but he tolerates them. He tries to get their attention and toys with them by making sounds and startling them. He's picked up words from everyone in the house. I remember reading one time that they can pick up words at certain pitches more easily than others, primarily women and children. I don't know if that is true or not, maybe someone here with more experience knows. I will say that Timber has picked up more words from my husband than the rest of us since he has been here.
  2. LOL Alfie looks a lot more interested in the wine than the peppers! Enjoyed the pics, thanks
  3. I see her! That looks like the "here I am, now you can pay attention to only me, why are you doing something else when I'm right here" look to me!
  4. Hello and welcome to you Steve and Toulouse. Post some pics when you have a chance!
  5. I understand about the age thing. Calculated as you say, my TAG is 5. If someone was lying, he could be 25! Ah well, it is what it is and I love him anyway. I have had him for almost a year now. What an interesting flock you have!
  6. LOL You should write a "day in the life of" book! I have to say you must have much more patience than I do.
  7. Hello and welcome to you and Smokey. He looks like a sweetheart!
  8. I don't have enough experience to give you any insight. However, I can tell you that I have seen Timber do a similar thing. He only does it when he is very excited and the cage door is closed.
  9. Ritual is a good word for it. All I could think of is that Timber seems a bit OCD! Ritual fits better. He is very much a creature of habit, and once he knows a routine, he doesn't tolerate deviation from it very well.
  10. Spam is a fact of life for us all now. I get about 250 "junk" emails every day. It is a constant battle I know.
  11. Agreed. I hate having to open all the spam posts to get them off my "new posts" list.
  12. Timber talks quite a bit and I'm still trying to figure out what he's trying to say, at least some of the time! The first time you hear a word or phase it is often garbled, much like a toddler. As time goes by it gets clearer and clearer and then you can make it out. Timber still says a few things I don't get. I'd love to be able to "pick their brains" too! I think there is a lot more going on in there than even we believe, and that is saying something!
  13. Hello and welcome to you and Lily! Glad to have you and looking forward to some pics
  14. Jay, I'm sorry if I offended you. I didn't answer your question because I don't know the answer for sure. I assumed from earlier posts that Greycie was wearing a harness, and if I recall correctly, Greycie is fully flighted. That said, the incident you just recounted sounds terrible, and I feel badly for everyone involved. What a terrible thing! Of all the forum members, I've always felt you were the most concerned about our birds' health and safety. While we all make different choices and have different lifestyles, I appreciate the fact that you care enough to give your opinion and thoughts about the different subjects. No offense intended!
  15. Haaaa... they always do the unexpected don't they?
  16. LOL! My thought was that if it is any day but Tuesday or Friday she could die (a/k/a Felix)
  17. LOL I'd love to see a video of her riding with you!
  18. Excellent progress for only the second week.
  19. I'm with you, after reading a bit I decided I couldn't watch it.
  20. Hello and welcome! That is one cute baby, and I love your name choices. Good luck and God bless
