Haha... Yes, silly me thinking I would be able to do something that didn't involve him Often times he can play nicely on his basket with a toy and entertain himself while I sit close by on the couch but the last week or so it seems he always wants to be physically sitting on me. Goofy little guy! (I am not complaining, though. I love that he is so cuddly)!

Maverick will do just about anything for a piece of shredded cheddar cheese. He also LOVES goldfish crackers. I break them into tiny pieces for a special reward .

Well here in good ol' STL I am trying to watch the baseball game but someone insists on getting some snuggles in. We were trying to catch him saying "HI" on film for my sister who lives a few hours from me but no such luck. Too cute not to share, though

Does anyone know what happened to this bird? I just read the thread and now am curious!

Welcome! There is TONS of great information in this forum! I have found tons of "Key" information in the stickies under each heading. The administrators/moderators have done an excellent job highlighting the "need-to-know" things. Everyone here is also great at answering questions. I brought my first CAG home back in August and have asked a million So get comfy and DIG IN Every time I am here I learn something new!

You all will think I am nuts but Maverick actually showers with me about twice a week. As soon as I brought him home I started allowing him to sit on top of the shower doors while I showered myself. After a couple of weeks I tried having him step up after I finished bathing myself and brought him down by the stream of water. He stuck his little foot out and allowed himself to get wet. Ever since then we just repeat this routine. I shower while he sits on the doors, then he gets to come in and gets a couple passes through the stream and everyone is happy! Hahaha.. I have tried just letting the water run in the empty shower to see if he would shower by himself but that seems to be too scary still.

Oh man... When Maverick hears me get the shredded cheese bag out he goes CRAZY!! It doesn't even have to be in his line of sight!! Cheese seems to be quite the parrot pleaser it seems like

Well, he really wants to go for the pasta and corn pieces but that also means he is getting bits of the other goodies in the process. Hopefully he develops a more rounded palate this way

Well, Maverick and I tried our hand at chop today. Surprisingly enough, it only took me about 2-2.5 hours from start to finish. I ended up with about 75 or so bags of chop at 2 servings each. I didn't go too crazy with ingredients since we have never made it before and I wasn't sure how he would like it so our included: Kale Green Pepper Orange Pepper Poblano Pepper Cabbage Carrot Butternut Squash Cauliflower Corn Parsley Bean Mix Wacky Mac Pasta Tiny little "O" shaped pasta (I forget the name) Wild Rice Shelled Pumpkin Seeds (Pepitas) Quinoa He seemed to really enjoy it! Here is a pic of our first batch!

I think that is what Maverick does, also. Step up just depends. Any other time he seems to favor his left.

He usually uses his left side but wouldn't ya know, just now he used his right! haha....Goofball.

Maverick always sleeps standing on his left food and uses that to hold his toys and food so I guess this means he is left-footed?

We get those all of the time! I didn't realize those were safe! We have been saving them since I craft!

Sorry to bump this.. Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I may be able to try?

I know I have posted briefly about this before, but Maverick is sure getting worse in the way of tolerating other people. We have been working with him daily so that he will hopefully at least tolerate Eric enough for him to get him in and out of his cage when I am not able to get straight home from work. This doesn't seem to help, however. He hates him and lunges to bite him every chance he gets. He even bit me last night by mistake thinking it was Eric's hand by him while we were all on the couch. He also "screams" bloody murder when I leave the room despite anything we try. We have tried flat out ignoring him when he does this and I have also tried speaking to him to let him know I DO hear him. Any suggestions? Clearly he is bonded to me but for his own sake, it would be nice if he would at least tolerate Eric.

What other brands of seeds are good choices? I have never given Maverick any seed products, as my breeder doesn't encourage it.

Oh thanks a lot for giving me something else to distract me at work (other than this forum of course) Hahaha... I have not yet seen this blog but I just pulled it up and it looks great! Now that I am completely uninterested in my workload for the day, do you know any others??? I have never heard of "chop" but I have been looking for other things to give Maverick so this sounds like a good thing to try.

That could be the case as well! It is so cute when I put him in there- he perches on my arm and sticks his foot out slowly to test the water hahaha. Then turns around and repeats with the other foot. Bless his little heart.

When I brought Maverick home he was only eating Harrisons pellets. The bird store by my house sells food by weight so I bought a little of like 3 or 4 other kinds of foods and started adding them in with his Harrisons so he could have a little variety. Eventually he started snacking on the others in addition to his Harrisons. Good for him because he gets a nice flavor mix and good for me because his Harrisons lasts a little longer (and that stuff is PRICEY!).

And looks at me all pitiful as he is dripping wet. He doesn't really enjoy it yet but he definitely tolerates it which I suppose is all I can ask for.
