I am guessing it is fixed now since everything went to underwriting and came back yesterday with a congratulations email. Not sure if that means all is good for a closing or that I made it past round one. This is all very overwhelming.

ROTFLMAO! I will give the tea a shot... of whiskey!

I bought their calendar yesterday just as a keepsake, lol. I think they are Decembers picture. She actually sold out twice and thought after January no one would be buying them but boy was she wrong, she had to order more so it is about 3 weeks out before she will have them to ship out. They found a title issue with the new house, it is still in the banks name and not in HUD's. They have been trying since last week to get this changed but no one seems to understand what is going on. This is driving me nuts and I will be happy if I make it through this with all my hair still on my head.

Who knows, maybe he was trying to get rid of me, or maybe his liar of a office manager never gave him my messages. Either way what's done is done. Bongo didn't get to go get his beak done yesterday. Right before his appointment it started sleeting which isn't really a big deal but why drag him out in the cold, stress him out and then back into the cold when we can just wait a few days and it will be back in the 70's. I wanted to be sure that Summer, the vet tech, would be there with Dr V and she told Pat that she will stay late to be there for us. Summer is the one who took in Lily, or Lucifer as "he" has been dubbed. lol. Jill, have you gotten your check yet? Tina said it came back to her and she would try again, let me know if you don't get it please. I am still waiting on my picture! So excited and I get so proud when I see posts from Tina's business page on facebook, the picture is still her profile picture. For those who don't know, Of Feathers and Fur had a contest for bird pictures and Koko and Gus won so she did an oil painting of the picture to be auctioned off and I would get a print of the oil. I contacted Koko's mom and told her about it and she jumped right in on the bidding and won highest bid! She gets the original oil painting, plus the money she bid was split and I got to choose a sanctuary and Koko's mom got to choose one and the money is sent to them. I picked Jill's sanctuary naturally since that is where Koko came from! Alright, enough of me yacking, it is 15 degrees outside so I need to be packing up boxes I guess. I am procrastination at its finest! I think I learned that from the greys.

Highway robbery! That would be awesome if ya'll moved out there!

As much as I love this time of year, the holidays have really slowed the progress down on the new house. For a year this house was in limbo because of the title and survey, the bank who owned it had new ones done before HUD would take it. Now I am told I may have to get a new survey because the one they have shows no dwelling, just land. There are 2 parcels, one is land one is land and dwelling and I am lucky that our realtor has these because that is $4000.00 I won't have to spend. But this is all that is holding up moving on to underwriting. The buyer of our house has already delayed his closing once and it looks like he will have to again. They are saying maybe the 17th. Yeah, just in time for the winder cold to move in! We went last week and got the birds stands out of storage, we moved them while the showings were happening. I forgot how nice I was able to keep my house when they are not out of their cages. :-) Took less than 5 minutes for it to look like a tornado blew through but they had fun and that is all that matters. We have to be careful though because we repaired all the damaged walls, doors, trim and baseboards. First time out, there was a nice beak imprint in a new door in the macaws room. With the house being sold, we can't afford new damage!! Bongo goes in today for his beak trim. We are still trying a new vet out and with his thick beak, this will be a good test. I love Dr Moore but he priced himself right out of our reach. 200.00 for 2 beak and nail trims is just not right, I tried to talk to him about it but he didn't care enough to return a call so onward we go. The new one is Dr V, she is not avian but has worked with many zoo's, one in New York, and has a bird of her own. The owner of the clinic is avian certified so I know that he is there if it is anything critical. They both saw Ollie when he was sick but Dr V and Summer, the vet tech, saw him mostly and they actually sent us the sweetest sympathy card that was hand written by them both. They won me over even more.

I am going to sleep for a week then everyone will be welcome to come over!

Well, i found out last night that the one we are trying to buy has to pass a foundation appraisal. If it doesn't pass, they can not loan for it. It is a mobile home that has been vacant for over 2 years. HUD will not allow repairs made prior to sale so if it is jacked, so are we. Our house now is as good as sold though providing all is good with the one we want.
-
I just love that! Makes me smile every time, thank you. So, we are accepting an offer on the house and now the fun begins. Paperwork paperwork and more paperwork. Atleast we won't be having to disrupt the birds and dogs at the drop of a hat. My vehicle has been dubbed the chihuahua mobile and poor Pat had to take Horse dog separately in his truck. It has been a stressful week to say the least. But that part should be behind us now and the gentleman buying just loves the birds and the koi pond. The house needs a roof but he told us not to worry, he will get it done after we have moved the birds out, he doesn't want to upset them or cause them any more stress. Me and my hubby just cried with this guys compassion for the animals. He is coming over Saturday to meet us and a lesson on the koi pond maintenance. I don't know him but i love him already! He is also letting us least the house back for a month while we get ours ready for prime time!

Haha, Lily will always be my girl in my heart. I should have know she was a he, none of the girls in my house like me except Kane. I do have a friend who is a breeder but the good kind who takes care of her birds, had amazing flights and when she was moving we wanted to buy her house for those flights. The one who had Lily was the other kind of breeder who people would like to see closed down.
-
Ha, Mr Lily did come from a large breeder where we ransomed her from them. I would like to see that lady out of business. Around the corner from our house is a duplex for rent. Pat is checking on that. If we could move in there it would be WAY cheaper than any place we could board them and the best part is that they stay with us. Fingers crossed the neighbor wouldn't be a bitch! Heehee!
-
Mine all love their phone books. My big guys go through them to quickly so now i buy the paper rolls that you find in public restrooms in the dispensers for them. In bulk at Sams, it is like the adding paper the greys love but on steroids!
-
Have to sell ours first then we can. Just not sure how well showings will go with 17 birds, lol. Waiting to hear back from vet about boarding but less any multi bird discounts, bringing their cage discount, we are at 7000.00 for 2 weeks. Yea, that ain't going to be happening. Lol
-
So get this, we called our vet tech, who took in Lily, to see about maybe boarding at the clinic for some of our "louder " parrots. Still on hold for pricing but she let us know that my Lily is actually Sir Lily. I am shocked, she had the red eyes but is really a boy. I guess as she gets older her eyes will darken. That explains so much about how she acted toward Gus. Lol

Thank you all for the encouragement! Literally wasted a day with the realitor yesterday going over all the paperwork. Managed to get one room painted, lol. Anyone who needs to paint, Valspar paint at Lowes has (well they say zero) but almost no VOC! Pat is putting up the wall and i am packing boxes. Rented a storage unit which now i am thinking may be too small. We have lived here 28 years, you can just imagine the crap i have collected and hidden. Lol On a side note, Bongo after just the assembly of 7 boxes, has that nails on a chalk board tape dispenser sound nailed! Yea us. gunna be a long month.

I received sympathy cards in the mail yesterday which is why it hit me hard. Otherwise i would have been okay being numb, lol. There is just so much going on right now, we finally are under contract for the property in Paradise but have to sell our house now very quickly. That means the flights we finally finished now get torn down. Walls we removed to fit the birds go back up. Fixing the dry wall where the birds redecorated, the baseboards and door trim the birds deemed as chew toys have to be replaced. And we will have several blinds to replace. Oh and painting. All this weekend and painting can't be done with tbe birds inside and it is supposed to rain ALL weekend and be cold. I am just overloaded. Oh yeah, and replace 2 interior doors that also got chewed up.

Sorry, low day yesterday. Today will be better!

So, it has been very very hard dealing with the loss of Oliver. To be outside playing and then sick the next day and gone two weeks later. His cage is still set up and every morning i when i wake them up i look into his cage first thing saying good morning as i raise the lights. My heart drops every time when i remember what has happened. Pat tells me that Ollie did what he was supposed to by making us aware of what birds have to live through with uneducated keepers, making us want to make a difference for all of them. Right now though, i can do little more than mourn my precious baby boy. I can not believe how much he impacted my everyday. Thisis so hard to deal with right now and although i know one day i will understand and be at peace, but that time is not now. I miss him too much.
-
I didn't think i would have to face it so soon. My Ollie boy passed away during the night.
-
So we went through every emotion possible, or so we thought, this 4 day holiday. Then last night i had to face the reality that Oliver may not pull through. His little feet are are starting to curl up. If he by chance does pull through, he will not be our same boy. More special of course, but not the mischief, chaos causing macaw he was. My heart is breaking. We go back to the vet this afternoon.
-
We will be able to see her no and then. Our avian vet tech is who adopted her and said Lily will eventually get to come to the office! Oliver is still eating and got to come out of his solitude for dinner yesterday and eat with his flock, but after dinner went back to his warm cozy room.
-
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Up at 4am to get the bird in the oven. Amazing how the ones that can see what i am doing are so quiet but the ones in the living are screaming (Vincent) and talking. Lol Ollie is now in seclusion in the medical room. He finally ate yesterday, all day. Has not thrown up for 2 days. He had gained a little weight back when at the vet Tuesday for more fluids. We go back again Friday. I hope we can be done with that. His poor legs have to be sore. Pat weighed him last night and he was at 810. Granted he had just eaten but huge difference from 730. We have positive hope for him! During all of these trips to the dr, we met and friended the vet tech. She mentioned her dream is to adopt an umbrella cockatoo who needs her help. Neither me or Pat hesitated in telling her about Lily. Because Lily attacks the other 2, it has been very difficult letting any of them out and Lily was starting to get testy. She is my sweetest bird and it wasn't fair to her. Lily went home last Saturday with her new family and is ruling the roost. Although my heart hurts, it is a selfish hurt. That is what rescue means, sometimes there will be pain. She has befriended their dog and steals his toys. Lol she also has 2 cats, one black and one white. She hates the white one, i guess Lily hates the color white, lol. Silent Bob Marley got his wing caught in a toy last night, that was tramatic to say the least, Pat saw him struggling and yelled for me. At first i was impressed that Pat was "going in" to help him since Silent Bob hates him so much, but then i realized he was just opening the door for me. Lol i took a good bite on my arm, elbow area, but as i was reaching in for him i did say "okay, i will take the bite this time for you boy!" And that i did.
