  1. We have a almost 30 year old. Last egg was 2 years ago. However it has been about that long ago for my 15 year olds also. So i don't know if she is done or if they are just not in the mood anymore since daddy hasn't had as much time for long one on ones for the last 1.5 years. Lol
  2. The birds absolutely love it here. With all the moving around we had to do to them, we have finally found their happy places. And I mean, this bird in this room on this wall, nope, not happy. We move them again to a different spot or a different room, little chattering starting up. Move them again and happiness is back. Full on talking and whistling again. Last night we switched Chaco and Menyeca and today for the first time I was greeted with little "Hi's" and Chacho's boisterous "Hello Alfrair". It was music to my ears. (my spelling is really bad on some words so sound them out with hooked on phonics please, I am not French or what ever language Menyecas name came from. (I copy and paste it from her originals owners email. It has a funky doodle over one of the letters in her name and I don't even know where to find it on a lap top, lol) Bongo has already destroyed an entire boing, Vincent, other than her egg, has been so mellow, the Too's don't even scream, they chatter and play but no blood curdling screaming. The blue and golds seem very content, but moving them 2 times in a short span of time has got to be concerning to them. Kane is still a spoiled brat. Ixta and Cotay are silly and mean to me as ever. Gabby is still plucking. Mary Anne will be moved again this evening I hope. We did not realize how hard the sun comes in by the window she is near until it heated up our trash can one afternoon when we were home. She has no feathers, I don't want her baking! Bubba had a hard time at first but I think it had more to do with Ollie than moving. "Silent Bob" Marley is still a ham bone and now gets to watch deer running around the yard and him and Bubba scream at them like little girls. lol
  3. What a bad mom I am. Yesterday when I got home, my brother in law was getting a new couch from his neighbor and hubby was helping to move it. We were taking their old couch. It has been some time since I have had furniture so I was pretty excited. Turns out the neighbor also had a loveseat that he gave Pat to give to me. I went from zero furniture to a full living room and a full second living room! I started decorating, moving them here and there for the perfect "look" which is hard to do considering all the bird cages. Before I knew it, it was after 9 and I had not fed the birds and it was past their bedtime. I made my rounds with a "I am sorry" cracker, Pat followed with the "I know mom sucks" almonds and to bed they went. The trees are starting to bud now and I saw that my grapevines that I dug up and brought with me are also budding, little excited about that. I have several trees in the yard and by that I mean 100's, only to put one and one together and realize they are all post oaks which the birds can't have. Trying to figure out where to start building their new bird-a-minium is tuff. There is a friend who's parents just bought some where that use to be a peacock rescue and they said they would donate what was there if we could use it, checking that out soon!
  4. Ahhh, internet again. It has taken me a while to get back on but not from lack of trying. There is something that blocks me from entering the grey forums. I have figured out to pull up a thread then I get around on here but I can not go anywhere near the home page. I tried several times to log in at work, and it said I was logged in but then when I would post, it said I didn't have permission to post. Hopefully this will work this time. All is well and everyone is settling into a the new routines. Pick up a stray yesterday, part Husky part Catahoula. Has the husky eyes, I thought he was missing an eye which is why I stopped ( he was dragging a dead carcass down the road which had been dead for some time by the smell of them both.) If he was hurt, I couldn't leave him out there. Well he wasn't hurt, stunk to high heaven, jumped in car after I coaxed the tail out of his mouth (as luck would have it I was coming home from the grocery store so had just stocked up on dog treats) Let horse out to meet him and that's all she wrote. Pete is his name because of his unaltered state. lol Loves the little dogs and doesn't give a darn about the birds at all. He is just actually a little confused because he hears talking but doesn't see the humans speaking. Quite funny!!
  5. Happy Birthday! The lack of internet has kept me away but I'mm Baaack! My facebook time is with lost parrots and that is pretty much it. Oh, there is a fresh parrot food one I am in for the goodies they post that one day I may get the energy to make, and also Felix, gotta love Felix.
  6. And one more will be added soon as quarantine is done afteer vet checks. Hahaha! Vin is doing good. Passed whatever it was finally.
  7. I was advised also to leave the egg until they were no longer interested. If you pull them to soon, they will produce more. Tis the season for sure. My little boy Vincent, laid HER first egg also.
  8. Vet said to up his, crap, her calcium and keep an eye on him, crap, her. Can't get until Saturday so going to just be watching her, hey I did it! Last night it sounded like she was trying to push more out but just getting air. So sad.
  9. I am starting to think i am the one with the gender identification issues! Marley, aka(Silent Bob) Marley, Lily who is now known as Lucifer and now Vincent who will be called Vinnie-voo.
  10. And today Vincent get to go into town with me. Not sure whats up but he may not be a he. When i was putting them to bed last night his butt was dripping blood and oozing yellow mucus like liquid. Think it may have been an egg. There was white paper like pieces at the bottom of the cage but he had no toys like that in his cage for it to be that. I heard him in there this morning saying goodnight big man so i feel better knowing he is okay but if it was an egg that broke, gotta get him or should I say her into the dr.
  11. Lol, so far not much luck with internet. Have a few more to call tomorrow to see if they can come out this far. Who knew, i guess i took internet for granted. As for unpacking, a hamper made it into the bathroom yesterday and that was about it!
  12. I guess we moved so country that we have no Internet or cell service. Lol Had to wait until i came into work. We are moved and swimming in boxes. Birds were moved, took a full day and 2 trips with a 16' box truck. Pat took the cages, i took the birds. Last trip was 3 macaws, 2 cockatoos and 3 dogs. Last bird went into their cage at 4:30 am Wednesday and this started at 9am Tuesday. We were all worn out but guess what! When the sun came up, the birds all woke up! We moved the last of the boxed items inside last night at 7pm. Not much has been done on the new place, the boxes are growing on me and i think i may just leave them there for a while. Sad part was that coming back to work this morning, our office moved so i am still swimming in even more boxes. Lol first thing this morning i am unpacking more boxes to find my stuff! Lol
  13. The start of the big move begins today. Signed on the dotted line yesterday and all we managed to move in was a 12 pack of beer, champaign and 2 glasses. Oh well, its a start anyway! Yes, birds are freaking out now with all the fast pace motions happening. I wish i could ease their minds but all i can do is work faster to get them moved and settled in.
  14. Dee is an incredible person with a doubt! And a nurse to boot!
  15. I had showed him the picture i took with the big flight down. It was the first time he saw the big palm tree and was sooo excited. Lol. I guess you really couldn't see it the the cages in front of it. He asked if her could come over yesterday and really look. Since he is our landlord, little hard to tell him no. Plus he is letting is use his trailer to move all the wire. We couldn't have asked for a better buyer! I looked back on my phone to find when i first saw this house. It was 12-31-2015. Over a year and next week it is finally mine! Me, Pat and our realtor stood in my kitchen last night all crying with relief that it is finally over. My new mortgage company dropped the ball so many times that last week, Wednesday, we drove to Plano and did a sit in until they got the paperwork going. I still wasn't clear to close until 1:30 Friday. We were supposed to close at 9am that morning but couldn't becauae of this. As soon as the title company got the word we were good our buyer was there within the hour to sign his papers. This has been a total nightmare but it is almost over!
  16. We are officially sold! Now we are renters of our home of 28 years. We will close on our new home next Thursday or Friday. We had our first decent nights sleep since Thanksgiving day, wow. The birds know somethings up also. Our stress has apparently been noticed by them because when we got home after the signing, they were all singing and whistling. This morning they wanted up early and while still dark, the bells were ringing from their cages, clangers were clanging and either Koko or Gus were saying "lemme out". Peace is in the air. Other than the daily walk-abouts these poor guys have been stuck in their cages and they are ready! We have 3 weeks to get packed and moved! Woo-hoo!
  17. Come 4:30 this afternoon, i will be all over that!
  18. I get my mood now. An alert popped up on my calendar. Today is my Ollie boys birthday. No wonder i am crying at the srop of the hat. I miss my boy. And to top it off, i am at work and just realized my jeans have holes in the legs and my boot is broke. Hahaha! I need to go home and start this day over!
  19. Took so long to build and just 2 half days to take down. I get so sad walking out back now. I know it is for the better but I just can believe we are actually doing it. It sounds weird coming from me but I am not good with change. I know every inch of my house and all the little quirks but now I am moving into a total surprise. Not just a different house but a HUD house that has been empty, in the woods, for over 3 years. To say I am in full blown panic mode would be an understatement.
  20. I am so sorry to hear this. It is hard, but know she is flying free and loves you as much as you loved her. ((Hugs))
  21. My carriers are not the right size for overnights, they are just right for to the vet and back. Seventeen carriers are not easy to store, lol. I do however have to get each one out and get them cleaned up. Darn it, there goes a weekend of packing out the window. So I was a little bored today at work and went back to the start of this thread. WOW, how things have changed, hahaha! Reading how each bird was introduced since #9 is really quite shocking that we all made it through alive. Now look where we are today. How time changes things and what good times we all still have ahead of us. Dreams do happen, they just may not happen on the time line we think they should progress in. :-) I had wrote the above a few days ago but had issues posting it at work, I kept getting logged off so I gave up. I looked today and it had auto saved, lol. Looks like we will be closing next week, Friday. I got home yesterday and saw my husband had started on the flights. He removed all the swings, perches, bridges and stands. Wow, months of work hanging the toys and all in just the right place reduced to what looks like the beginning of a great stack of winter firewood and 4 boxes. Heartbreaking and exciting at the same time. And scary, don't forget scary. Today we will be removing the wire and breaking it down. I think the buyer is going to be shocked at just how big the backyard is. The survey was done this last Tuesday, red flags sticking out of the ground showing the actual property line. Whoops, how did our next door neighbor get about a foot of our yard? There is a concrete retaining wall there now so... Not to sure about the backyard, Horse dog, aka Athena, thought the flags were tooooo pretty and she wanted them, so she promptly removed them. Walked out the back door to find them on the door mat, I told Pat that it sure looks like our property shrunk.
  22. Such heartbreaking news. Prayers to his family and flock. I hope he knows how much he helped so many, my heartfelt thanks to Dave007 for all he did, rest in peace friend.
  23. The hardest part for the birds has been that they can not come out of their cages like they use to. We just can not afford to replace everything again. We did try to let them out and found a nice beak print chunk in a brand new interior door. The macaws are mad and show their anger by throwing the food bowls and doors off the cage and on to the floor. Bubba has been really good though, I think he is just still stunned that there is no Oliver beside him, he acts confused and that, we totally understand. hardest part for them will be when it is moving day for them. We are trying to figure out the best way to handle it. Since it is a mobile home verses a brick and mortar, door sizes are not the same so some of our cages that do not break down may not fit through. Plus, we will have to move a few at a time because we will have to set up their cages so they have a place to be when we go get a few more birds and do the same thing. Logistically not sure how we will pull this off. Looks like we will be closing in just a few weeks so we have to think fast. lol So we took Bongo to the new vet for his beak trim, she did such a fantastic job, I have never seen it look more normal. I think she was proud too because the before and after will be on their website! It may have been a fluke but who cares! Next on the docket is Bubba and Chacho. We warned her about Chach and his dislike of everyone but she said she lives with a bare eyed cockatoo and has all her life so if we can get him in the crate, she can handle him, haha - we'll see. Pat was up front with her and said that this is one bird he is afraid of, he is strong and quick. We are going to go and visit our friend today who is in the assisted living home. He is the one who's birds we took in. Since we will be making the move soon and our time will be filled with packing, we wanted to be sure we went by. He is so excited and so are we. I am going to stop and print some pictures for him of his birds, I found a great picture frame that he can use, it is like a Ferris wheel so he just has to spin it around to see the different pictures. (he has limited use of his hands)
