Thank you all so much for all your kind words.Jess my grey still gives me the beak rub and her breakfast ,lunch, dinner etc when i let her out,so i know she still loves me,jasper the noisy amazon is still doing her dawn chorus, ear plugs at the ready, lol,so at the moment things seem ok,after reading all of the kind words and advice i am feeling a little better about the situation we are in,this must be felt by my lovely angels ,i have tried so hard not to be too upset in front of them so when i can let them out i try and cram so much quality time in the small window i have. Thank you all again for all of your help

Hi bird fans. It has been a very long time since i logged in,a lot has happened ,moving ,hospital etc etc,i wont bore zzzzz any one with the details.lol.M y dillema is what to do with my wonderful girls, jess (12 year old grey)and jasper (2 year old amazon). We have had to move and work commitments have changed things greatly.I need some advice from my fellow bird friends,i want to ask am i doing the right thing with my girls,we had to move to a place where it is impossible to let the girls out for more than an hour a day,and work commitments have also had a tremendous effect on the situation with us all. They have always been out for about 4/5 hrs daily until the last 3 months.i am so worried about the effect this is going to have on them, they are still so loved and i dont or wont see them go.Please can some one p[ut my mind at rest. Many many thanks to you all. steve

We have an orange tip called jasper.Good eater?depends what we are eating, swoosh, down to the shoulder and in goes the beak,no matter what it is,any time any where, and any one, which is funny to me but not so funny to the person who is having a mouth raid.lol.Jasper will always climb onto my shoulder, she will sit there while hoovering, cooking any thing. She is adorable, not sure our african grey jess will agree.haha.She loves the shower and just about anything, she is bomb proof.

Hi folks. Not been on here for a while,i need some advice off you lovely bird folk.W adopted jess our african grey about 5 months ago,she is 10 and wonderful,im her husband ,no doubt about it,lol. What i need to know is why jess is suddenly shedding her feathers, large ones now and then, and lots of smaller ones.Just over the past few weeks though.Ive tried to put it down to the season, heating on and then cold at night, trying to get her to eat other things,a 10 year old?well i keep trying, she hates veg,and at the moment the only fruit she will eat is pomegranate,i sprinkle on a powder to make up for the lack of calcium ,i also use a proper uv light on her to help. A 10 year old grey will be stuck in there ways, but we persevere, lol.Could any of you wonderful people shed any light on this for me?.Apart from the feathers she is in fantastic shape, started to talk now,she loves her cuddles, still no hope of her taking to my wife,or any one else for that matter, she tolerates our amazon jasper, they dont fight any more,so jess in herself is fabulous.Thank you for taking your time out to read this, and will look forward to your reply. Many many thanks. steve, jess

Hi bird fans. I had to replace my greys dishes, the new ones i got had little metal bumps on the sides,so when you push them in they sort of click. So now no more playing with food.Naughty things arent they.lol:D

My grey, jess, decided one night to copy steve mcqueen and do the great escape.Went into the front room and she had bitten off all the wallpaper along the top of my bay window, the way she looked at me,i just burst out laughing.

Hi bird fans. I might have stumbled upon a house saver,ie,furniture, door frames wallpaper etc.Two months ago i tried balloons ,and all types of things, you all know what i mean, amazon and grey fighting for the same bit of wood, lol.A bout a month ago i used an ostrich feather duster.Well a month later my girls still freak and fly away from said duster. No matter where i place it ,they both give it a wide berth.Door frames, furniture,no matter where, they just avoid it like it was the most hated thing. So i went a got another 2 and placed them when were all in the same room.Well people ,so far so good.I hope this continues to be good news. Thanks for reading this rather long thread.I hope it might be of use and works for some one else.

Hi folks. Two days ago ,jess my wonderful grey, did something ive not seen before. She squeezed into her water feeder and started paddling and flicking water everywhere.Jasper our amazon has never done this, and jess hasnt done this before or since. She has a regular shower with me,so im not sure what this behavour meant. Can some kind person shed some light on this for me.

Hi.I have an amazon who whistles her head off,and thanks to that,we found her after she had been missing for 3 days. She just whistled her greeting till we found her, some 2 half miles away.So a whistle to us is fantastic,my Grey ,jess, she can do so many things ,as we are finding out now,she is 10,we have had her for 8 weeks. Her previous owners said she didnt say much, well they should hear her now.Talks, whistles, and does the best telephone answer machine you have ever heard. As somebody previously said,if they whistle and talk and make lots of sounds, they must be so content, and happy.

Hi gang.My wife and myself has just got another mouth to feed,a giant house rabbit. So we have jasper our amazon, jess our 10 year old grey, now harrison.Jess who is for me only,no one gets a look in,was sat on her cage watching H come up to me,i stroked his ears, then, whooosshhh, down jess came.H didnt stand a chance,he scuttled off for a few minutes, then came back,a bit wary at first. Is this normal behavior for a protective grey? jess is very protective of me,my wife cant get close to jess, she does tolerate us having a cuddle, just. Our amazon jasper doesnt give a second look at harrison,yet.lol.Is having a rabbit going to do any harm to my girls, health wise or any other?I hope we have done the right thing.

Hi gang.i have just got back from my honeymoon, spent a few days away from our girls, which was obvious last night, jess and jasper were very naughty, lol, jess ,my 10 year old grey, had a little nibble at me,the first time, was that her way of telling me off?jasper our amazon just ignored my wife completely.where would we be without our wonderful feathered companions.!!!

Hi fellow bird lovers. Im here talking about my 10 year old grey, jess, again. We got jess about 3/4 weeks ago,she is a fantastic addition to our house, what i want to ask is,last week i drank some coke,it was gassy,so you know what happened,a little wind popped out, jess heard it,and copied it straight away, been doing it since,so why that and takes so much longer to copy other things?I think jess is a rebel.;)With jess being 10,she isnt to old to pick up new words is she?as i have said before, her previous owners didnt have much interaction with her. Many thanks my fellow bird lovers for letting me leave a long post.

Hi.Not wanting to be an alarmist, judygram gave me the same advice. We took in a 10 year grey, she had very little contact with her previous owners,i came along, spending so much time with her,i was having the same problem.judygram told me to try and take her mind off getting fruity,so i introduced my amazon ,jasper, which worked,so far so good. You have lots to look forward to,with your grey only being 3 and a half.my jess still likes cuddles, but she only gets it when shes is sleepy, about 8 ish.So far so good.Good luck .

My new arrival jess a 10 year old cag,not had a single nibble, but my wife, well theres another thing.Jess pretends she want her head rubbing, blink of an eye,out with another plaster.I can turn her upside down, rub her belly, not a thing.Night time is even better,if jess wants a cuddle, she WILL HAVE ONE.Jasper our amazon a diffnt ball game,a quick lunge and out come the plasters again. Its all the fun of having these wonderful pets.:eek

Hopefully this is the year that my new house member jess will start her new and very happy life.I have given her a new home after 10 years with her previous owners who had no interaction with her.she is coming on in bundles.with the help of jasper, our amazon who was 1 in april. All the best to all the feathered friends and there families.

Hi my feathered friends. After some research,i mean repairing some furniture which my cag jess found delicious ,i had a light bulb moment,so off to town i went, got some balloons and put them near her fav perch, the door top,two hours later, the wood still exactly how i left it.Probably a case of she will get over her fear, but for now,no more sanding woodwork. Also can some kind person tell me how long my amazon jasper ,should have her parrot uv light on.put it in today,i thought jasper would freak, but no,out came the sun glasses then the cocktail and she was in heaven.I really dont know the time schedules these lights should be on for. I hope you have enjoyed reading this long thread,i just love sharing my experiences with you all. steve.jes, jasper

This moron of a so called pet person, deserves to get her fingers bitten off,at least the poor bird will get some proper food.Hope you can beat her price down,or just beat her instead. you should take a dog house to her and say ,how would you like to live in something so small.Good luck on getting our feathered friend away .

Hi. I have only been a parrot owner for 18 months. We have 2 little angels ,our first bird was an orange tipped amazon. Like you ,we did so much research, but the real thing was a totally dfnt ball game. You can pick up so much on the net,but the real thing is such a joy.We just recently rehomed a cag, jess ,she is 10,already her personality coming through.Watching jess and jasper together is worth it alone.I always wanted an african grey, but jasper was first. If and when you decide it will one of the best things you will do.We could never be without the noise and clatter,it brings our house to life.Good luck when you decide,i think your mind is more or les made up. steve, jess and jasper:D
