  1. Some people use covers and some don`t. We cover are birds with a sheet to give them some private time because our house is very active. Some members have a sleep cage. And some members have a bird room. A lot will be up to you and the way your house is .
  2. OK Issac check on him so he does not watch porn. Cricket will sit on the arm of my sons chair and watch him play his WII game for hours.
  3. Welcome to the forum and to let you know this place can be addictive and can cause long hours at your computer
  4. We the few African Grey care takers as compared to the world already know what research is trying to tell the world. We have seen it first hand and we are not scientists.and we love them for who they are. An african grey will take us for who we are and learn our languarge but we don`t learn theirs. It some times makes me think who is the smart one.
  5. Just a nice family outing with two loved Fids. Audi is a great looking female.
  6. She is an all around tiel.
  7. Showing her all the good spots to land.
  8. Corky knows were we keep all the treats differant kinds in differant kind of containers and she can open witch ever one she wants. We even hide them but the snot knows how to open the cabinet doors to get what she wants. So when we can`t watch her every secound it`s cage time.
  9. Welcome to the forum and you do have quite a zoo kind of like my place
  10. Talon Hey, what are you looking at I would like to add a caption ( I`m Nilah and I just had my bath, I`m clean and ready to bite the world in th ass) I can see that going through her mind
  11. Happy hatchday Nilah and we hope you have many many many more.
  12. I remember when my tiels were that small. They were so trusting and they grew up to be such great fids.
  13. They do get excited when they see and feel water. It`s like a day at the amusement park.
  14. I agree with you because your statement is complete. A new person that has read about zons may think that what they read is true about all zons instead of a general statment and that there can`t be exceptions. The thread was ment to share the bond that Cricket and I have and that when you are looking into a zon that good things can happen if you take the time to know how to relate and form a connection between the two of you and to never take that bond for granted.
  15. Is there a differance between bonding and relationships, yes there is but you can`t have one without the other. With bonding there is a relationship. With out a relationship there is no bonding. This statement is true if you have a African Grey a Cockatiel, a Macaw or a Amazon along with any other bird you share your home with. Amazons have a reputation of being aggressive, hormonal, unpredictable, and I beleaved all that I read about them and to some degree this is true. Every bird that I have had over the last 39 years was a pet or better yet a companion that we enjoyed to it`s fullest I have to admit I was afraid of a zon in no uncertian terms, not the bird for me, no way no how. I want a bird I can trust and a zon was not that bird. WELL I WAS WRONG. Bonding with out expectations no treats no tricks just us sitting there with each other. Treats were used as a bribe to start with but as things went on they were stoped and replaced with a head rub a beak rub a scratch under the beak and than the scratch went to the head and beak and this went on for 2 or 3 weeks and she moved from the hand to the shoulder with no sign of aggression. To this day she has never bitten me and I have complete trust in her and I beleve she has complete trust in me and we still sit with each other for very long periods of time just talking and her jibbering. I never though I would ever let her on my shoulder when she first came to live with us but that is her chosen place and it`s with out fear. We just sit there with out expectations jibbering back and forth.
  16. That`s interesting. I have a(about) 15 year old Blue Front that we have had for 2 years and 4 months and I have not seen this with her. I wish I could help. Cricket has been a sweet love able zon and I could not ask for anything more.
  17. When it comes to intelligence they say they are both very smart and equal in that part. They say the TAG is more easy going than the CAG. I have a CAG who is very easy going and out going. Witch grey do you like. Some one will chime in about the TAG. Both are great birds and would make for a great family member when properly cared for and socialised.
  18. Our female grey we have had from 14 weeks old(We bought her at 9 weeks and she came home at 14 weeks) and she is over 10 years old and we have never had a hormonal problem. Our amazon you know when she is in season but she is very good about it and just wants to be with me.
  19. Hi FlyFree and welcome to the forum. And not all pet stores are bad. Our grey Corky came from a small pet shop that had a very good support system with lots of imformation and they hand raised all their birds. We visited her for 5 weeks befor we could bring her home. Lots of great people her to help when you need them.
  20. Facts The most yolks found in one chicken egg is nine. The laegest egg in the ginness book of world records was 9 in. long and heavest egg 1 pound with five yolks. Thats a big breakfeast Many South American parrot species live in mixed flocks. Fact or fiction
  21. Hi Deucypher and welcome to the forum. All greys are differant and they can pick one person or the family. Some greys my pick a person even if they are not the care taker. Our grey Corky loves me my wife and our son and any body thats comes into our home that will give her attention. She has always been the center of attraction in our house and she eats it up. A fid is a feathered kid and after you have one for a time you will understand. Both you and your wife take an active part in bring her up. She may pick one person and except the other or she could pick the family. A grey is like a two year old child that will be with you for ever and ever and ever and ever.
  22. I don`t know about hardware cloth and I don`t know your location but we have a thing called rat wire that we use in our barn, We have ducks, chickens. peacocks rabbits and we also feed the dear and wild turkey the year round so we have a lot of feed around. We line the feed room with rat wire to keep the vermon out. It`s 1/4 x 1/4 fence.
  23. I could not find anything in reasrach about cracked or leaking pipes and the turky vulture. They have a keen sense smell and sight for finding food and they are non aggressive. So I will say FICTION Many South American parrot species live in mixed flocks. FACTS or FICTION
