  1. Hi I have been to a breeders today and it has got me thinking again. If the breeder does not cover the cage can you start this as soon as the gray moves into it new home or do you have to do it a little bit at a time? I didnt ask if he normally does but ill ask if i go back and get my grey off him. Clare
  2. Hi Went to a breeders today, they showed me their breeding room, could not go in as some bird were sitting on eggs. Also he leaves the babies with the parents for the first 3 weeks then removes them and hand rears them. They are socialised with all the family and he said i can go and see them as often as i like from 4 weeks onwards, take pics and any major develops he will keep me updated with. He will have babies ready in 13weeks or near christmas he thinks, but I can go as often as i like and see the birds until I feel that im ready to buy one. (may not get one I see as he already has deposits taken but he is happy for me to be around the birds and get used to them) Does this sound like a good breeder? He said he would show me what he feeds them on and how they feed when he has some babies in a couple of weeks and said he would give me a rough schedule on how and when he usually feeds (routine). Im going to another breeders on friday to have a look there too, though i can only view these babies when they are ready to go to new homes. Clare
  3. Ha ha thats made my day
  4. Thanks for that LOL I really like this style of cage but i can go to 105cm without seed catchers so if i can find one a little bigger I will get that and do the extra cleaning. Spock its a very lovely baby picture x
  5. Well found this cage today 80cm width x 56cm depth x 171cm height(without seed catcher) 102cm width x 79cm depth x 171cm height(including seed catcher) Internal cage height 93cm Bar spacing 20mm Weight 89kg We really like it as it is quite big for in the day and has a nice big play top for at night, plus with it being rectangular i can hang toys from the top of the cage. The door has proper hinges and an extra safety catch just incase, plus it has pull out trays for cleaning. What do you all think??
  6. Hello and Welcome Everyone is very friendly here, no question is silly and everyone will answer to the best of their ability, enjoy looking round and gaining info Clare
  7. I will never leave them alone together, when i go out the dog will be in one room and the parrot in its cage in another. Generally (whats happened up to now with other animals) is alfie will have a look and a sniff then will lie down and not be bothered. Just hope that is the case with the parrot. Either way they will never be left alone together
  8. Thank you for your reply, I will defo be looking for a healthy bird and am going to a breeder that has been sug from the forum as people have got their grays from him. Thanks again Clare
  9. I have read on a couple of posts that you should let the grey choose you, but how do you know they have chosen you?

  12. ha ha well thats what im hoping, im hoping that Alfie (dog) will get a bite on the nose for being to nosey and then avoid doing it again LOL
  13. Thanks for all your replies, im back in search for a rectangular cage
  14. Thanks for that, im 99% sure that the dog wont bother with the parrot at all apart from making friends the first time. He is like this with all our animals. We allowed him to be in the same room as the iguana yesterday for the first time and he investigated but after 10min lied down on the floor and just watched. He is used to sharing our attention and he copes with alot and has never shown any sign of aggression. Fingers crossed all will be fine.
  15. ha ha ha lovely picture, he wont try that again
  16. lovely video what a little cuties he is
  17. Thanks everyone, as im looking for my first cage its bril that I have all of you to help me decide. I can fit a rectangular cage in the room so think ill be going for that. But I def want one with a play top, so i can just open it up and he/she can come out to play
