  1. Maybe you guys can give me some help on this. My baby 4 months old will not touch his pellets. I have 2 bowls of differnent pellets in his cage all day. I also have a bowel of mixed fruits and veggies. He wont touch any of these bowels. But, when I take him out of cage in morning and evening he will eat stuff by hand no problem. I am really concerned that he will starve when I am not home all day. However, whats amazing is if I put a bowel of mixed seeds in his cage. He will devour them. WHat should I do. Should I leave seeds in his cage during the day. I am so confused on this whole food issue. Today, I found my gray at the bottom of cage just sitting there. I dont know if he was there because he was exploring the bottom of cage. I never saw him on bottom before. Is he hungry???
  2. Thank you all for your replies
  3. I know that not all greys speak. Is there any way or indication that your grey will be a talker. My grey is 4 months old. When I first got him and stood outside the room and talked to him. It sounded like he was trying to talk. He did this for about a week. Now, when I stand by the door all he does is chirp and make baby noises. Is it way to early to judge???? Thanks Jacky Shay
  4. thank you for your replies. Of coarse, on the weekened he spends alot more time out of his cage.
  5. Hi everyone, I just bought a new africacn grey baby. Had him for about 2 months already. I am just a little concerned that I am not spending enough time with him. I work from 8-4 pm. Before I go to work I usually take him out of cage for 30 minutes. I let him have breakfast with my family, and cuddle and talk to him. Then he goes in cage till 5 pm. I always leave a radio on for him. Also, my wife doesnt leave for work until 10 and she usually talks to him. At 5 PM wghen I get home he comes out of cage for at least 3 hours. He eats dinner and sits on his playstand. I talk and play with him. Is this enough time with him. I just feel bad. Plus, I dont want him to start pluicking. He has plenty of toys when I am not home. Thanks Jackie Shay
  6. thanks. How do i get him to eat his pellets. I leave them in the cage all day. It seems that very little are touched. I mix the zupreen fruity blend and vegteable blend. He does eat them. Maybe 1-2. I feed him in morning and at night. I really dont want to give him seeds
  7. I have a 4 month old grey. Is it okay to feed him his fruits and vegtebales by hand even though he is weaned. He loves me feeding it by hand. He bobbs his head up and down and stares right at me like a baby.
  8. Hi my name is jackyshay. I have a 4 month old african grey parrot. We live in brooklyn. his name is charlie
  9. I have a baby african grey around 4 months old. Hes such a mush and very friendly. The question I have is related to food. Currently in my cage I have 4 bowls. 1 bowl is filled with zupreen vegetable pellets and the other bowel is filled with zupreem fruity pellets. The 3rd bowl is for fruits and veggies and 4th bowl is water. My african grey really does not touch the pellets and only eats a few. Will he eventually eat the pellets. Outside the cage I feed him eveything. Bean cuisine , potatos and all soughts of healthy food. I noticed that if I give him seeds he loves them. But, I read its not healthy. Should I continue to leave the pellets in the cage. Or should I put seeds in cage also. I tried to mix them and he only picks out the seeds, So I stopped giving him the seeds. Help me. Im confused. What should I leave in cage.
