1. Tyco's Mom, thank you so much for responding. I immediately took out the toy after reading your response. I don't want to take any chances.... maybe it was a piece of wood that had a good tastes.
2. Coral has a bunch of wooden chew toys. Today, I notice he was not only chewing, he was using his talon to hold onto a piece while he fed himself little bits. Is it ok for them to eat this stuff?
3. First off.... these cages are really PIMPIN Just curious, do they come with seed skirts, or is that extra?

5. Thanks Judy. I think the biggest advantage of switching is the seed skirt. Coral is a really messy eater
6. I need your help in deciding a good home for Coral. I think as far as space, Coral is super happy. As for cleaning and maintaining the cage, I think the design of her current cage can have improvements. That said, here is the cage she is currently living in: What I want to get her is this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150376202808&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Size is about the same, but with the new cage: - It has a better finish - It has a top play stand - It has a seed skirt - It has 5 feeding bowls with 3 doors attached to the cage. Would these be good reasons to switch? Opinions needed. Thanks guys!

Post edited by: pga7602, at: 2009/10/04 23:28
7. Where can I get oxy fresh in the US?
8. I wanted to give my review of Avian Fashion's flight suit. Coral has been wearing for a about a week now and I think it's been working out for the both of us. At first it was tough putting it on because Coral would give me a hard time. As time progress and he started associating the flight suit with free roam of the house including my bed , he started giving in... Now he sits still and lets me get it on him. I don't have it on all day, just 2-3 hours at a time. My only issue is the chewing. When I don't give him my full attention, he starts chewing on the elastic bands as well as the velcro on the suit. I bought some bitter apple spray, but that didn't seem to work. Well, it kinda backed fire on me! He goes on chewing and keeps on kissing me. By the end of the session, I'm the one with the bitter lip I'm sure this problem would apply to not only the users of the suit, but for any type of harness we put on our birds. Does this problem simply go away with time? Inputs please!
9. Is it normal for a grey to stand on one foot from time to time. I notice when coral is relaxed, she usually just stands on her right foot. It happens after showers usually. Is this normal, or do I have a weird bird?
10. I have been on this board for a little under a week now and have already learned a lot. Coral is my first congo grey. I've only had her for a week, but she has already grown on me. Enough talk, here are some pics:

Cool, Coral came with a crate, but she doesn't looked liked she enjoyed it the one time we had to use it. But i get what everyone is saying, so she's going in the cage to the vet ASAP On a lighter note, her poop is getting better by the day.
14. How often does your Grey poop? Coral has been with me for three days, and I noticed the frequency of poop is getting less and less, but when I am playing with him, he's still up to a poop per 10 min. I'm not sure if this is still due to the stressed in a changed environment, or something is the matter.

It's the third day and the weekend's here... Hopefully, I'll find the right vet soon. I can't seem to locate a good an Avian vet around here. Side convo... When you guys take your parrots for a car ride, do you use a crate or just have them sit on you?

Post edited by: pga7602, at: 2009/09/26 07:34

Pretty Bird

Yah, just a little worry because her poo seems a little loose, but then again, this is her third day in my house, so it could be stressed. I have no idea what loose stool looks like, but every now and again, she would go and there would be nothing but a clear thick liquid shooting out...... At times, the poo looks solid and worm shaped...

Post edited by: pga7602, at: 2009/09/26 03:08

Pretty Bird

Hi guys... As you know, i'm new to this, so please no newb bashing! When I got "coral", the original owner gave me a 20 pound bag of Pretty Bird Macaw pellets. He told me "Coral" likes it a lot. And in deed he eats it like there is no tomorrow. My question is, is Pretty Bird a good brand of pellets? I don't know what to look for in the poo, but what I can tell is that it's like a worm with the same amount of liquid around it. Should i convert her to what I keep hearing on this forum? That Harrison stuff?
18. Do you guys leave the pellets in the cage all day so you parrots can eat when they want or do you only put the bowl in, in the morning and again at nitght? I have read conflicting info on this subject so wanted to know what all of you are doing. Thanks!
19. The no grates is catching up to the grates lol I guess I'll keep using it till I'm sure he won't go foraging at the bottom. Oh.. Why the vinigar? Does it melt the poop or somthing?
20. Hey guys, I just joined the forum today and am excited to learn from all of you. I just adopted "Coral", my 6 month female Congo last night. She's still settling in, but seems to be super tamed and sweet. The original owner was moving and could not house a bird in the new location. I need lots of help since this is my first Big Parrot. Please be patient with me. And THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
21. Ok Luvparrots. I'll go say hi now! Keep the replys coming... I want to see what the majority does. Luveparrots: any secret to getting the really dried out poo off the cage?
22. Do you guys remove the bars separating the Newspaper tray from the actual bird? What I'm finding is that the poop will sometimes land on the bars and it's making a mess. My bird never goes to the bottom of the cage, so having the bars there just makes it harder to clean. Do you guys remove yours, or have it there and clean often?
23. Ok, I'll worry less. she was eating some strawberrys yesterday.
24. I'm new to owning a African Grey so I want to ask a question about Stool. Is it suppose to have some sort of water in it? I mean, it definitely has solids, but there is a clear liquid that is still apparent when he poos. Is this ok?
