  1. Ah the sofa game, between the Cats, Dogs and birds furniture has a rather low survival rate here. Our furnishings are not ever viewed as elegant-but have that well lived in look.
  2. Some of us call that behavior heart wings, kind of expresses the feelings they are trying to convey.
  3. You will find this is a very helpful "flock" of people and Greys.
  4. I did search the website and they claim the Quake Hold is all non toxic, ask a Vet to be certain.
  5. Pookie tries to sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "Pop goes the Weasel". Smokey Joe whistles some of the "Andy Griffith Theme" and his own tunes and Smartee Pants whistles "Bridge over the River Kwai" in part. Whisper just does sound effects and some tune of her own making.
  6. Nice choice and your generosity in sharing your vids and photos is much appreciated.
  7. Good grief, terrible thing to happen especially this season. Hope they recover Rocky in good health too.
  8. We also have 2 Too's it seems they are here just quieter here than they are at home.
  9. They can find more ways to injure themselves and more ways to give us grey hairs, just amazing how efficient they are in this respect. A good reminder to ck all toys for open rings that trap beaks or toes, cages for secure doors and feeding dishes, latches and joints that could be dangerous. Kind of like when we ck our smoke alarms on a regular basi8s we can do the same for our Fids.
  10. You are a wise girl to come and ask this question. Do think of the bird first as this bird has little to no choice in his or her transfer to a new home and human flock. This bird will be dependent on you completely for food, clean water, clean cage, toys and entertainment, social interaction and love. Ask yourself if you are up to these challenges, what to do if your family goes on vacation or holiday, what happens if this bird gets ill? If you have these answers and your families support then go meet a grey and remember they are not very often a cuddly bird when they become adult but they are very smart and rather sensitive bird and may even bite when trying to communicate how they feel. I am impressed with your attitude but only you and your family will make these decisions so give it some very deep thought.
  11. Welcome and looking forward to hearing more about your search.
  12. Life with a Too they can make you laugh so very hard then they laugh at you!
  13. Good news, they are a great group and really know their stuff offering some sound nutritional information.
  14. Gram negative bacteria are a hazard and can be transmitted to our feathered companions. Salmonella, Pseudomonas, Cyano bacteria, Pasturella for example. So I only do the top of the head kisses not only to preserve my lips for future use but to keep my flock safe-err on the side of caution. They are also able to contract TB from those of us affected, " Definition: Tuberculosis is a zoonotic disease that can infect both birds and humans. Avian Tuberculosis is airborne, and infections are caused by inhaling organisms shed in fecal matter. Symptoms of Avian Tuberculosis include a swollen abdomen, weight loss, diarrhea, impaired breathing, and increase volume of the white urates in a bird's droppings. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek immediate veterinary attention as this disease can be fatal. Pronunciation: ay-vee-ahn toob-er-cue-low-sis Examples: Avian Tuberculosis can be passed to people, just as people infected with tuberculosis can pass their illness on to birds."
  15. My humans say fear can be a good thing it helps us stay safe and tears wash away the bad feelings. Stay safe and I will keep an eye on the fireplace, good to be warned, Thanks Talon, give your human a wing hug for her bravery.
  16. Keep his food and water inside the cage he will want to go back in eventually it is his safety net while everything around him is new and might be a little scarey.
  17. A sulfer crested is a hyper vigilant bird, usually a bit quieter than a U2 or Moluccan can be. Always active can be a bit more independent than an Umbie, mine is a sweet heart and very loving with me but able to self entertain. Do you know what kind of a SC2 Lesser, Eleanora or a Greater? Several of us live with Cockatoos and I also volunteer with them at the Sanctuary. Like us each bird is different and has a unique personality an approach to every thing from people, activities, interests and foods. Suggest visiting the bird first and see how it behaves in it's current home, ask questions that should give you some idea of what to expect. You can also access Tooztalk.com a very nice group of cockatoo people.
  18. Jay I believe you meant e-coli! Rather than Ebola not many of us live in areas affected with Ebola which iss often due to eating undercooked primates and is super deadly to humans.
  19. So nice to share your travels the photos show such beauty.
  20. Excited and waiting for the results of the Vet visit is going to be difficult, it is a wonderful to see how they have all blossomed in your care!
  21. Dee you just confirmed the choice as correct, all the best girl keep up the good works.
  22. I know those dogs who text & drive are the worst!
