If you are getting a plucker then try gradually reducing the pellets and relying more on fresh foods like sprouted seed & grains, fresh veggies and fruit and some soaked and cooked bean mix or some home made birdy bread. You will find it does make a difference to feed fresh.

Do not spray the bird directly spray over his cage so it falls onto him indirectly and you will find it is not quite so hateful:lol: that way.

Can I ask how old she is? Does she have any trouble seeing or is she bumping into things more frequently? Please get back to use on how those eyes responded to more light, even a little flash light should produce a pupil reaction.

We can call it an altitude adjustment and those feathers will grow back out sooner than you might think.

Greys are masters of sound-any kind of sound that gets their attention. The snorting could be a way to clear a little dust or seed hulls from the nares or it could just be a sound he likes.

I would think that drinking would be more difficult than eating not able to visualize the water levels. How are they responding to treatment so far? How long have you had these birds? What is their diet? Can you add a little Gatorade or Pediolyte to their water to get some sugar and electrolytes into them? She should have had enough time to grieve and recover by now. Greys can be a challenge when it comes to gaining their trust. I would avoid the scolding from now on. You sitting and talking to her is a good start. Can you tell me a bit about her cage and how you have it located? Is it near a window? I would not giver her the treats unless she comes toward you first. Reward small increments of progress and keep it short and very positive. Lots of good girl, great job type talk. That is a star and if you can find some of the articles by Barbra Heidenrich they will give you some great tips and ideas.

Greys can be prone to heart disease and liver disease like so many humans so limiting those junky snacks does help them live a longer and healthier life. Like us more fresh veggies are a good thing but not always what we want.

So sad for you all, in time the memories will be sweeter and the sorrow less painful Hugs.

I am in agreement with Dr. Flock on this one. they can change as the birds mature and with the available diet.

Then it sounds like we are looking at the behavior possibly being related to his age but to be certain a Vet visit or at least a phone call might be in order. If the droppings are normal in appearance and volume and your baby is both eating and drinking, not looking droopy or fluffy then it may not be a health issue. these little stinkers sure can make us worry sometimes. If your bird is cold you will see a fluffy shivery bird. You can always place a ceramic heat lamp near the cage for extra warmth if some one is around to monitor the safety of such and always leave one side of the cage for your baby to get out of the heat if he wants.

A few questions-how old is Chikki? Is he producing a normal amount of droppings? Do the droppings look normal? Are you certain this is male?

Great to hear he is doing so well, you are both so lucky that things fell into place to save his sweet little self. May you both continue to heal safely and well.

Supernova sounds rather exciting to me, Greywings just seemed right when singing in for the first time and no one else seemed to be using that one. The back stories are entertaining to read and learn more about each of us.

I hope you did get to see it both beautiful and touching. The reviewers were not thrilled with it so I believe they have no music in their souls. Robbin Williams was wonderful in his role too.

Think how little choice they have in their lives, if they don't want to step up once in while then walk away and wait for her to be more receptive. We usually pick them, their cage their food their toys their awakening and sleep times. A clever bird like a Grey wants to have some decision making of their own some times. as long as there is not an urgent need then let have some leeway.

We received about 3" in our backyard and I volunteer a the local bird Sanctuary on weekends and was finding the water bowls and bottles frozen. they thawed quickly of course after we got out more bowls and bottled water for them all.
