  1. Happy Bird Day to Ben Her! She is a great companion, just watch the way she opens those cans of ale. Wishing you many more happy decades with her Bernie.
  2. That picture is a classic. First time I have ever seen that sort of a botanical specimen "rooted" with an African Grey.
  3. How are Louie and Georgie getting along? I love that you are enjoying your birds and I believe there was another arrival in your family. Would love to hear all about it when you find a moment to yourself. LOL. That could be a while and it certainly is understandable. It is so nice to hear that Georgie is talking to you, I love the sweet noises Kopi makes, but he just turned one and is giving me just a little attitude this week. Enjoy your baby days in every way. Thanks for the update.
  4. Hooray, you have found your way through getting a grey baby and a human baby and still had time to look on the forum. I am very impressed and would love to know how your family is getting along.

  5. Ha ha ha. You made a perfect place for Issac to inspect the back of your flat screen to make some adjustments there too. He is such a rascal, just the way we like them.
  6. Ha ha, I love that you have trained Alfie's daddy to play peek-a-boo when she asks. That is another great video, another smile for all of us Lyn, thanks.
  7. This ole babe isn't easily impressed, but Bernie you are awesome with this stuff! Thanks for sharing and I will be holding my breath to see pictures that come from your scope in it's temporary home.
  8. That is just too sweet. I love that he gets quiet when he coos. I wonder if the coos are because he is Zen or if he gets Zen by doing the coo-mantra? LOL. Whatever the case, I am glad you don't have peacocks or guinnea hens on the other side of Spock's window. And, I want to come to your house and see out your window and hear Spock coo to see if soothes my soul too.
  9. You are off to a good start with Cosmo. He is gorgeous, of course. It is a lot of hard work to bring a young one home and your family seems to be in love with him and enjoying the bonding process. I wish you years and years of companionship, laughs and good times together. It has been almost a year since we were introduced to a chick about the age of Cosmo. A lot has happened and now I look across the room and see a one year old grey playing and chatting and I am just in awe and feel so lucky to have him, so even with the work and challenges and ups and downs, it doesn't wear off. I am really glad you have joined us and have become one of those bird people. LOL. Good job on making your little one safe, comfortable and entertained.
  10. Ha ha good one. And Bernie he would easily catch up to you when you drive your truck like you drive your boat and crash it up on a gate post.
  11. There is always sure to be a smile to brighten our day when we see a Supernova. Great to see you Bernie, and don't be too good, we wouldn't recognize you and it would take all the fun out of it too.
  12. Happy hatchday to a beautiful, regal lady.... and to Josey too. LOL. It's your hatchday too Judy, you wouldn't be a grey momma without it. Congratulations on the four year anniversary of the day that continues to bring you daily delights and the companionship of your beautiful friend.
  13. The job you are doing with your babies is awe inspiring. Taking care of one with no experience would be a challenge, but two is a labor or love and a miracle of life for them. Congratulations on doing what it takes and keeping your little ones safe and growing. To all of you who have had experience and are putting your advice and your hearts into this, you are all my heros.
  14. Genius for coming up with this thread! The Good: There is never a dull moment with Kopi in the house. He definitely has a sense of humor because he mocks my voice and has me thinking I better get a coach to teach me how to sound sweet and nice like some of our other lady members. My favorite of all is that he will tell us he is a good boy, a good good boy. He gives himself plenty of praise with Good boy Kopi, good good. So obviously he was thinking ahead to be prepared for this thread. The Bad: He has only been here two months so we are still in the honeymoon period. We did take him out in the car on Saturday and he has had a three day grumpfest. Life was all sunshine and roses as he rode in his backpack and made jungle hoots and was excited and animated. When he saw his Mama Ann for the first time in two months, he was not manageable,he tried to bite her and would not step up and he came home with attitude and bit me three times. We weathered the storm and didn't let him get the best of me, and thankfully he is back to his pleasant little self again. He does not want to be anywhere but in or on his own cage, period. As long as he will let me pick him up and bring him back, we are still going slow but interacting physically every day, still 99 % good. The Ugly: That would be me. LOL. I have a fifty year head start, he'll never catch up. LOL
  15. I am sorry to hear you are going through a tough time along with mo jo. Surely you and your vet have been on top of this condition for a while and you are doing what is necessary to make the best of what you have. I have seen birds that adapt to the collar with all the supervision and guidance you will be providing. Hopefully new toys, treats and lots of attention will get him through the worst of it and it won't have to stay on long. Good luck, keep your chin up and this too shall pass.
  16. Lyn, thanks so much for learning how to use the technology to bring your little star and her special brand of happiness into our homes and hearts. It is such a tribute to hear her say what she hears from her loving family. She leads a charmed life.
  17. Okay, so here is how it goes for me and mine. I am making sure my twenty-something daughters have positive interactions with Kopi and Java and so far, they each say they would care for them when I am gone. But how far can you trust kids? So, I have a couple of really good friends and have encouraged them to get over the fear threshold, hold the birds, care for them and they come live at my house when I go away, so the birds are well acquainted with them. But my real plan... that is to have grandchildren, lavish them with attention... get my grubby mitts on them when they are infants and hopefully babysit while moms are working. Then, I will indoctrinate them to be the best bird lovers and caretakers that Kopi and Java could hope to find. Then, I have plan D... or plan Dee and things get more planned and complicated with each step. In all seriousness though, it is similar to bringing children into the world, the best laid plans can fall through, so teaching them good manners and caring for their needs so they grow up strong and productive members of our family and greater world is the best insurance we can give them. When we want to spoil them rotten and could, we step back a second and think if that will serve them well to get along with others and do what is right even when it is hard. Kudos for starting a thread conversation that helps all of us. Thanks.
  18. Don't worry, be happy. Babe number 7... but who is counting?

  19. I am so sorry to hear that Bobby is still out there trying to reunite with you Marion. You have been through so much in your search, coming close and working so hard to chase every lead. My heart is with you and I hope to celebrate with you when you bring Bobby home again.
  20. Guilty as charged! Worse than eating the parrot's diet... making soup with the day-old veggies that aren't good enough for the parrot. LOL This is a good one Dave, thanks! I made an appointment with my therapist... his name is Kopi.
  21. Spock, you have been mind melding with Java again, haven't you? She has started playing that some night-night game. My favorite trick is when she scuttles around to the back of my neck and bites when I reach for her calmly and reasonably, I quickly grab the hem of my tee shirt and whip it up over her and "bag" her. Lucky for my family, I wear a tank top underneath. LOL.
  22. Spock, you are lovely and the same character you have always been. I especially love the pics of the bottom of your foot, that looks so cool.
  23. Spock the curtain decoration, he is adorable and looks like he is at ease in his bat pose.
  24. Yoshi is such a cutie, it must be delightful to play peekaboo and hear her say it back to you.
  25. This is such a happy time for you and Marley, congrats on finding each other. The pictures are adorable, he is wonderful, of course. You are off to such a good start and it is going to be a lot of fun watching you together as he grows with his best friend.
