Thank You all so much for your responses to my crisis.I appreciate you all and your wisdom. Dan that was a hoot I am printing that one out. How funny. I really didnt think there was anything to worry about but I knew if there was I would find out here.

I need some responses from you all on birds making people sick. My daughters husband is freaking out because we have a bird and he is afraid their baby is going to get sick...uuurrrggghhh. Isnt a bird like any other animal as far as washing hands and there should be no worry about catching something from the bird. My grey will be 9 months old this month. We only have the one bird. Houdini has never been sick. So how can I stick up for my bird and have my ducks in a row when trying to give him the facts.? Thanks, Deborah

I am so excited I could just bust. I hope you all remember me and Houdini and how the wait was so aweful to get him home. He is turning out to be such a little sweet heart. he always puts his head down for me to scratch his head and he gives me kisses. and today....well let me tell you..... I have one chihuahua that is very whiney. well Houdini has heard him whine so much that was the first thing he picked up.... he will be just 7 months old on the 17th of November. but I am telling he sounds exactly like the dog. I thought i was going crazy because I had the dogs in my lap so how could I be hearing whining...lol I love him so much and I am so glad I had made a decision to get him . he is so awesome. I just love him to pieces. and he knows it...lol I had to tell you guys because no one understands the real excitement of it.. its like having your baby say da da for the first time. I am hoping that is a start to better and bigger things ahead..

So then I guess it is safe to say anywhere between 6 months to a year. ? Houdini will be 6 months old on the 17th of October. he still just makes little chirps when I talk to him. Now when he plays all kinds of different noises come out here lately that I have never heard before. I think he gets excited and squawks and then adds different noises in the squawk.He has gotten alot bigger from when I first brought him home. He will give me kiss a peck on the cheek if I ask for it.but for now thats all he does. I do love him so much and when I get back to work I would love to get him a buddy. Deborah

Hello Everyone !!!! I just wanted to give everyone an update on Houdini. I finally got him to eat his vegies and fruit. Who ever it was that told me to try a ca-bob stick....Thank You.!! Thats what I did and it works wonders. So far so good. He loves to pull it off the stick. He actually ate one whole baby carrot and about half of his green pepper and I am thrilled I just hope he continues do so well. I think he just enjoys pulling it off actually. As you all know today has just been a week since houdini has been home. I have been having a small prolem getting him to eat his vegies and fruit. The breeder suggested not to leave his pellets in cage at night. which made since. so last night I left the pellets out. He has ate alot more of his canalope today . but when he went potty a little bit ago it looked all clear and no white pasty stuff and no tubular part to it at all. I finally took away the canalop and diced up his green pepper. he hasnt ate any of it and its been there oh about an hour. I need help I am not sure if I am doing something wrong I know his pooo shouldnt be all water. it was like he just pee'd and no poo is what it was like. What should I do or not do. should I call the vet in the morning? I am so worried. I know he is still settling in could this maybe a reason it would be that way?? HELP !!!!!! Thanks Debbie

JUDYGRAM....I am still trying he takes little nibbles one or two and thats it. But I am still offering them to him and willcontinue until I get it right. He is a curious little stinker..lol when I open his cage in the morning to give him his breakfast he straight for the door. he loves being out of the cage. he will perch on his door all day. he had tried to come down to the floor twice is that normal? We put him on the floor and he just walks around lookig at everything. climbing couch and my dog crates...he is a hoot. So far he has been a very loveable little guy. OH the funny thing he does. You know when you pet a cat and their butt and tail raises up .. WEll...when you pet houdini he rises up like almost on his tip toes. I am guessing that means I like to be touched....lol it is funny. So far all seems to be well except getting the vegies and the fruits figured out , but I am working on it..lol Thank You everyone who replied I do appreciate you guys so much. I want to be a perfect mom to my baby. Just like when my kids were little. No one could take care of them better than me...lol and the same with Houdini. I left him with my husband today . and I asked him are you going to babysit for me as I had some school shopping to get done with the kids...and he did sit. But I had to call home every little bit to make sure everything was ok...lol

Well first of all let me tell you that Houdini did good today. He hangs out on his cage door. So today I put some toys to hang where he could play while he hangs out....lol He got brave today and glided down to the floor. Now remember I have 6 chihuahua's ....lol they all get along but you never know accidents do happen. Thank goodness I keep an eye on him. It is so funny though because its like he wants to walk around and check everything out..he climbed up the couch and down again climbed underneith my kitchen table. He is a very active little guy. I let him look around because he is very curious. OK what I really need to know is this.... He is not eating his vegies well at all should I be worried or just keep trying. I did get him to eat maybe a teaspoon of raw carrot today I chopped it up pretty fine for him. As far as the fruit I bought apples which he didnt care for and they were chopped small for him. also tried canalope and watermelon. Should I just keep on trying different ones until I find one he likes? Should I be worried that he is not eating them still? He is eating his zupreem very good infact he almost finished his whole bowl today I was really surprised. Oh and another thing I am not sure of. when I get up in the morning and I take off his cover I have been saying good morning to him ....well he opens his mouth and makes a monster like sound...dont know how to describe it.lol it that because he is trying to talk but doesnt have his voice yet. Ok I think thats it for now. Thank you guys for all your help I do appreciate you more than you know !!!

Hello everyone thought I would give you all the morning update...We decided to name him houdini. Since he kinda pulled one at the airport and missed his plane....lol I pulled the play gym off the top of his cage and put it on the floor and he played on for a bit. he is now sleeping on top of it in the middle of my living room. All is well I think he really likes my son. He perches on his shoulder and seems to like it there...lol My son got pooo'd on 3Times...today........lol Me 0 none nadda........lol For some reason I gave him grapes and he didnt seem to want them. the green seedless kind. I gave him broccoli and I cooked it a bit for him and he didnt seem to want that either he shook his head...lol He is actually getting a very good nap here all is quiet and the dogs are quiet which is unusual...lol He looks so pretty . Ok will give you all updates later and I will down load his picture of him sleeping. I couldnt resist to take a few. I think he feels very relaxed to be able to sleep in such a busy household.

Finally at 1:48am......He is so awesome i just have to tell everyone..when the guy brought him out and set down his cage. I started to talk to him and boy did he let me have it... he went on and on and on. I know he thought we forgot him as he had been in flight since 9am. He finally settled down and we were getting the paper work taken care of . I took him to the car and we went home which is like 5 minutes from the airport. he was quiter on the way home with just a chirp here and there. we brought him in the house and I opened the cage and put my finger up to his feet and said up a couple of times and he finally got on and very carefully I pulled my hand out being very careful not to drop him or hit his head on the top of the carrier and this was not very easy....lol We got home and I fed him some canalop he had a few bites not much. then I held up to him his zupreem and he took it from my hand and then put it in his foot and ate it. the whole time I am talking away and telling him how awesome he is. and when he wanted another bite he just chirped at me...I cannot tell you the feeling is just wonderful. We really connected right from the get go.Once he stopped eating I put him in his big cage for the night. I let him crawl around a little bit so he could see what was all in there. then I covered him up and now he is quiet and sleeping I hope. He had such a long day. I cant believe this is happening to me. we drove an hour to cleveland and my baby was not on the plane. sooo now we just got back home and waiting for his arrival at the airport down the road from us...sheesh. poor baby he has been on the go since 9am this morning. I sure hope this wont put a damper on us getting to know each other. and ya know the same thing happened when I got my adopted horse their truck broke down and they had to send out another truck and he also came in late. it was after 11 pm .... Only me.............lol

Thank You!!!! what do you think about maybe bringing a dish of water maybe a cooler with some cool fruit.. because it will takes us about an hour from the airport to get home. should I just bring maybe a little food and wanter and some cool fruit??? Its been raining all day here today. I am not sure what the weather will be on friday but it is still hot and humid.

I can hardly sit still, I am so excited. I am also very very nervous of what the ride home will be like. and should I maybe take some treats with me. Should I hold him in the car. I feel bad for him as he will be in flight from 12:00 noon until 5pm. Poor little guy. I went out and bought some more toys his cage is full. I may have to take a few out.....lol I went and got the dry food for him. I will go tomorrow morning and purchase my fruits and vegies. It seems like I have waited forever in a day to be able to get him home. I just hope I dont forget anything. I emptied out all of our spray cleaners, and chemicals. I am just using the vininger and water and actually getting use to the smell and kinda like it now ....is that weird or what....lol As soon as I can get a picture of him I will post it on here so every one can see. I may take a picture of his cage so I can show you how I have it set up. Ok, I think I am going to try to wind myself down if that is possible...lol Good Night every one ...

Thank you so very much everyone for giving me help to make my babies home comming a little bit easier. I did find out that he has been eating Zupreem natural/ and slightly cooked green beans. She says he eats very well. If this makes any sense to everyone. I am so excited but so nervous about doing the right things...

For a new baby comming home. How much would you put in a dish like fill it and let them choose how much they want or do you messure it? Also I see alot of people talking about the fine. is that like a grounded up type or is it like a softer pellet? I am new so I still have alot of questions but I want to be prepared when I bring him home friday..

Hello, I am so excited I get my new baby grey this week. I have been waiting for so long. it seemed like the day would never get here. My question to you is this... I need to know where exactly to get pellets for him and what brand. I was reading that Harrisons is like the best all natureal human grade pellets. I just need some help of knowing what would be the healthiest pellet to feed to him and where do I get it from.? I know fruit and veggies and that I can have ready. I just need to know about the pellet part of the diet. Thank You in advance. Deb
