Hi guys, I decided to name her amigo, and call migo in short She is now responding very well to me So far, I manage to train him to do shake hand, wave good bye, and flap the wing as hard as possible on command. With this I hope she will tone up some muscle to prepare her when her Wing regrow. However, I need sone advise on the name She already know her old name and would repeat it. She also can make some of the sneeze sound that I really find it not cute. How do is remove the words or any sound that he make? She also start becoming very very cuddly at night in her cage. She would puff the feather and bend down her head and let me cuddle her. But in the day time or outside the cage, she never want to do that. How do I get her a little more cuddly in the day time? Thanks alot guys

Hi, I'm trying on the recepie too, but have some doubt. With those beans, u are going to have to cook it for a long time. Will that destroy alot of nutrients and mineral in it? As far as I study in school, alot of vitamins and minerals are broken down by 50 degree celsius. So is it better to feed raw? It will spoil pretty fast after thawing and remembering that it is very highly nutritious and WET, it will attact alot of bacteria growth in a short period of time. How do I prevent that? I think if u serve it in the morning the food will already foul by 3 or 4 pm So do we risk the bird eating the spoil mashed in the evening when we r out to work?

No, actually the burdtrick never advise on the negative reinforcement.

i ve got one of the birdtrick.com training course. i find some of the method is not really convincing and a little too troublesome to be done. i agree too that everybird is different and i feel sometime its best when we do not do anything and let the doing the approach. however, the book i got from the birdtrick offer someof the cool idea for trick.

May be u can choos a thick curtain so it will cushion the impact. Or u can choose a curtain that is very rough or easy to grab so bobo will grab the curtain instead of falling to floor. Or may be u can Fold up the lower part of the curtain and clip it at the edge. So if bobo crash, it will not fall to the floor instead on the folded part of the curtain. Bobo definitely need time to learn to fly and landing Ma be now u can let him start with short flight or even short jump Put 3-4 perch on circle. In the middle of the pearch there's a food bowl Put just a few piece of sunflower seed or bobo fav food. So he have to fly or jump or fly from one perch to another in order to reach the food. Let him take his time and furthur the distance when he is comfortable with the distance. He will gain confidence and learn to coordinate as well as built his muscle. With this u can also let the bird learn to turn. It's like motivating the bird to practice flying in the condition that he know exactly where He is heading(the food bowl) Long flight will get the bid scared in the mid air and loose control and thus crash. U can let the bid go hungry abit when or empty stomach when he is practising flying Bird breathing action is much complex while they are flying. So when the bird stomach is full there's possibility that he vomit during or after flying. In my experience, this will definitely happen to new flyer if I over fed them before training. When they crash, they can vomit the food out and it might got inhaled as the bird must be very panic After practicing section then let bobo have his proper meal. Bird that is ful also lazy to fly and will be less motivated as by instinct, they should laze around after their breakfast. Just my thought, hope it help. All the best to bobo My amigo also going to learn to fly when her wing grow.

Hi, is anyone here is a programmer or know any programmer who know how use OCR . Program to reconise alphabet Thanks. It's for my Sis who is doing her final year project on OCR

Thanks judygram. This grey is one of the most challenging bird I ever cone across. She now start her aggression behaviour. When I tried to offer her sunflower seed, she bite my finger instead of the seeds . This bird originally is aggressive one and is the alpha on human. The previous owner terrified by her. Btw, I meet another grey owner who just stay a few unit away. His grey called smokie. So I think I am not naming mine the same name. I would name it amigo, will call her migo. I will change his name when he is confortabld at home

I'm not too sure what have happen. But yesterday morning my grey refuse to take food from my hand Today, she refuse to take food from my hand and refuse any interaction with me She just Wana b left alone. She still eat well and the poop is in a correct shape. She just suddenly hate me over the night.
-
Congrats on your new grey. She look really beautiful and well groomed
-
My grey is 5-6 years old. I think mine is belong to the smaller side. She is only 421 gram. Actually grey can sense our fear and will bite even more If we fear them. The previous owner of this My grey is afraid of the grey from there the bird start to dominate and get aggressive. Grey bite can be painful, but it is so much better then the amazon. Does greysea learn to talk already? Hm. May be shouldn't let he play in the top cage for the time being as it might encourage territorial issue and dominance.
-
Ya Mine too. She just start to show her apetite. Is greysea aggressive? Will she bite? Mine will not step up on the hand and will attack my hand. So i was thought to take a red towel to slowly towel him up. There's a technic in towelling him so that he won't be too stressed. Whenever the bird bite, or refuse to step up, I towel him and bring him out of the cage. Outside the cage I will repeat the up n down comand to make stepping up is an automatic reaction. It only take 3 times of towelling that he understand that he should not bite and should step up. Subsiquently I teach the meaning of nonwith the help of the towel. It sound cruel. This is the 1st time i try this method.but actually the result is good. As long as done carefully it won't hurt the bird. It actually bring the bird to understand his boundry and obedience rule. SHe come from a house where every single person n pet scared of her and that went on for more than 4 years. So she is very bossy and would try to dominate everyone. I won't actually recomend the method to everyone, even it's "proven" by my trainer friend, I only tried it once, and that was with a adult bird.( usually 5-6yo grey have much more stable state of mind) May b for greysea, you can take it slowly as he is still young and she look like she is not aggressive. Btw, greysea looks really big. She look like really macho. Is she on the bigger side of the range?
-
Hi, can't see the pictures. Btw, u can use towel to get graysea down. Then when he is down, train the bird to do the up comand Step up should become the bird 2nd nature. Like u put your hand, the bird is automatically step up
-
Hi, thanks luvparrotd. Yea I will try to video some when I manage to get her dance on command. Yea, this bird is progressing every day. This morning he say " where u going" before I go to school No one teaches her that I was totally surprised too! Am I going to be surprised everyday? Hehe

Thanks judygram I'm still calling him his old name. I don't want to change his name yet as he seem to have difficulties sattling down. However, I think this bird is a she. I just read up on the sexing and find that she has the grayish line on her red tail. So I have to start calling her instead of him. The other update is she start eating her pellet and sunflower seeds. She start to show her appetite and empty the bowl every afternoon She start taking food from my hand. The funny thing is, she will take the food from my hand and she will suddenly realise that it was from my hand, then she will not take it anymore. But today seems like she start wanting to interact with me. This morning I was doing some worm up. To be precise, i was doing jumping jack. She saw me and lift up her wings and left leg and start rocking her body. Doing something cockatoo like to do. Didnt know that grey can do it too . Even she is still nervous and have just started eating, talking has never been an issue for her. She has just pick up the phrase "hey, I miss you" the words that I say every time I come home. She also pick the words "come on" and "up up" Never know grey can be this exciting. Will update u guys with more exciting progress again.

new name decided !! i will name him smooky i will start calling him that when he fully sattle in my house. even though he is talking well, he is not eating very very well yet. he eat very little and have not accept my hand in his cage. its difficult to get him out of the cage. so i usually will open the door and wait most of the time, he will just sit on his pearchs and do nothing.

thanks judygram i am not too sure weather to change his name as he keep pronounching his old name.... but i am having difficulties in pronouncing his name
-
wow, a 9 year old grey...he is beautiful ! is it clipped?
-
Hi judy, ya, the wing is severely clipped. It's clipped about 12 feather I think and he would fall like a rock. And yup, I m letting him regrow the wing and learn to fly. He has never learn to fly before All my birds are not clip and some of them is recall trained. Hopefully the grey will ever be able to fly
-

hi, thanks a million for the warm welcome. actually i have joined this forum about 2 years ago. but decided not to get a gray as i dont want to get and abandond and i think my skill on parrot are not quiet there to handle a gray. so now i think i have enough experience on gray, so i decided to get one. the one i got was a problematic bird. with quiet a bad territorial and biting behaviour. but learning new phrase incredibly quick and not a shy bird at all. will talk where ever he is. what best, he some how know the meaning of the words. like when he have a bad fall( he is severely clipped) he will recover and tell everyone that he is fine...."hey i am fine, i am fine" quiet an interesting character. but need to work on the territorial and biting behavior. i am sure with help from the expert here, i can get him accept me well. btw, any sugestion on the name to give him? i am trying to get a name that has no "r" in it
