1. Very cute bird:) Dusty is a perfect name for an african grey! I don't have the experience some of the others do, so i'll leave them to answer your question.
2. Yes, I know =] Are we talking bigger then that though? What is the best size for a grey? I mean, the bigger the better, but is there any one size that is preferred?
3. Good luck with her, can't help you because i'm not so experianced. I did see a post on here (here or another forum) where it happened to someone else though, and they had to reclip the birds wings because the behavior got so out of hand. Goodluck
4. Oh, and are coconuts safe for CAGs? Like, you know, just drilling a hole through the entire coconut and hanging it? I could make some pretty cool toys, and I can imagine they would be fun to peel. My dog LOVES playing with them.
5. So, the longer I wait to get my little parrot, the more time I spend on the internet, and the more time I spend finding "perfect things" to buy my bird. In other words, I need to get off of here before I go completely broke. I don't know how you all do it! ha Anyway, give me some advice on the few items I picked out? This cage, Width 24.02" Depth 22.05" Height 64.96" Bar Thickness 3.5mm With these perches, which are cement. Now, I won't even began to post pictures of the toys i've already ordered, or am considering. Ha. I need tips on harnesses, I have "The Aviator Bird Harness" picked out, but whats your opinion on the safest one? Comments on the cage would be nice, I haven't bought it yet, so if its not right, let me know. The key would be to keep the bird out of the cage all day, ha. And of course, anything else that I should get before the bird arrives, or just in case items. I'm meeting and getting in contact with every avian vet around my area. I'll feel better once I know who they are before bringing the bird there, even before the first check up. ohmygosh, time is frozen:S
6. I'm sorry to hear about your loss, I hope you're doing okay. As for your dog knowing, i'm sure he does. We use to have a dog and cat a while back that were best friends. When the dog passed, we buried him with a nice gravestone and everything in the backyard. My cat sat on his grave for months. She would eat, use the little box, then go back outside and sit on his grave. My thoughts are with you and your family.
7. Mondays appointment had to be rescheduled to Wed. due to extreme fog yesterday. We find out the sex of the birds hopefully by Friday. The DNA samples are being sent in today.

9. We have an air filter in our living room, and although we vacuum, dust, mop, and everything in the above, our filter picks up SO much hair and dirt in it, its amazing. The first week it picked up a thick layer of dog hair and cat hair. Our house is 90% wood, and 10& tile.

Post edited by: Twosteph, at: 2009/01/20 16:55
10. For the bird holidays one, I clicked to vote for #5 but it auto voted for #4:blink:
11. I remember in kindergarden my teachers would bring in 15 eggs, chickens, geese, and ducks. We would incubate them and they would hold a flashlight to the egg and show us the babies inside the eggs. We would watch them hatch, and we would keep them for about a month. My family was close to the teachers, so we would get to take the geese and chicks home on the weekends. The geese were always my favorite, they were gaurd dogs all the way:blink: After this is all done, the teachers would take the babies back to the farm we got the eggs from.
12. I like Dolce! Man, two weeks is forever, haha. Everyone else is just saying its no time because they already have their birds! I'm actually still waiting to bring my little baby home to. Time is frozen:pinch:

14. Goodluck, try to not worry to much.
15. I'll be posting plenty of pictures and stories, I can't seem to get enough of them on here and wish people would post more. My friends just don't get my love for animals, ha. They already roll their eyes when I mention my dog.
16. HAha, 5 minutes could be fun, but probably not to great for your wallet. Do they sell bird cages there about the same prices as online cages? I just can't get myself to spend 500.00 more on a store bought cage, thats the same thing with free shipping online. It just might be easier to pick one up while i'm there though.
17. I've only been once due to the drive, and it wasn't to her house, it was her sons. She keeps telling me the baby is doing great, and gosh he looks so great and healthy in his pictures. If I lived closer I would be there every single day. Ha, I am ALWAYS at Animal House playing with those birds. THis wait is killing me.
18. I know, poor thin is only 4 weeks old to. Thank you Judygram
19. My baby bird is being tested for Aspergillus now. Fingers crossed he is okay. Thank for this post, i've been doing as much research on this as I possibly can. Karma your way.
20. Ha, no kidding Judygram. I couldn't believe this post when I read it! Hopefully everything turns out, the tests come back Monday I think. They are going back to the vet again on Monday. I've never been to a bird fair, I've been to a guinea pig one though. ha. I think it will be interesting.
21. Actually, I never have, but she has references. I knew it was Janice, because my bird I am suppose to be getting is the one that has those granulomas, so i'm playing it by ear at the moment. I did go and meet her with my parents, she was very nice. We met at her son's house, which is the half way point from her place and mine. Oh man, the newspaper here said Monday, ha. I guess I read it wrong, thanks for the correction!
22. http://www.africangreyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=41 I have read through this, and it kind of gave me details on what to expect if the birds test comes up positive for Aspergillosis, so if my bird has it, it sounds as if yours will to. That, it could have been the nestbox, and this disease could have penetrated the egg? I guess well have to wait for the results, but I trust Janice as of right now. She seems to be 100% honest with me, she even lets me call the vets and have them explain the situation. So, I don't think she's hiding anything. Sorry for the three posts in a row:blush:
23. Sorry, didn't let me finish the post. Janice says that is the birds aren't healthy when we get then, she refunds us for the bird, which means say we get the bird, then take it straight to the vet, which is what you're suppose to do, and the vet says its unhealthy, Janice keeps saying she will refund us. She also keeps telling me she won't sell me an unhealthy bird, so i'm currently playing it by ear. Its kind of weird how I saw this post and knew you were talking about these birds. Ha, small world, huh? Anyway. I'm going to the exotic bird thing in Spring Hill on Monday, and I to am going to meet a few breeders as back up. Never hurts to be prepared.

Post edited by: Twosteph, at: 2009/01/17 03:30
24. Let me guess, your breeders name is Janice? She's been great so far, I hope my bird is okay. =/
25. Ha, so cute! My little baby isn't quite this cute yet, lol. Man, isn't the excitement killing you? Sure is killing me! I've decided if my bird is a boy, (we haven't dna'd yet) I'll name him Bruce =]
