thats good to know, u said u changed ur breeder? is this the new breeder? how long have u been waiting for ur babies? did u visit ur breeder first?
-
yes ur right they r very beautiful names, very unique. i wand something a bit different, how long have u been wating for ur babies? r u worried about them traveling? i am in the UK and we r hoping to maybe relocate to USA i know i could take my baby and he'd have to go thru quaranteen etc but im very worried about how the flight might stress him out. what do u think?
-
i thought my breeder was far (1 1/2 hours!)ahjari is middle eastern is it not? my husband if from the middle east. i wouldnt know how to pronounce any of those names! cus the H is different to english H.
-
how far r u from ur breeder?
-
u must have ur hands full with 2 babies! hey r soooooooooo sweet! how old r they now?
-
thanks for that, thats a good idea!, the one im geting is a boy, so needs to be a boys name. i had a look at parrot names on the net but have found none that stand out.

hi everyone, i had 2 greys george and maddie, maddie sadly died and george has now gone to live with my mum, he is very happy there and gets his space and atention as he needs, (my home was to busy for him!) and i can see him when i want etc. anyway i decided to get a baby but not right away so i went to the breeder today and put a deposit down for a baby boy, he will be ready in june, i am stuck now thinking of a special name for him i want something that he could learn to say, if you have any ideas (cuz i dont!) let me know please!
-
I don't think he wants a head scratch, he looks more like he knows he did something wrong.
-
hi again, just wanted to add something! When he mouths my hand, if he does it a bit to hard and I say "no bite" or he thinks he's done it to hard he puts his head down in the scratch position straight away, why is this?
-
azzie was she sold to u as tame?
-
well this is exactly my point! the bird looked scruffy its red tail was black round the edge i pressume from having to walk round the floor but the feathers looked scruffy if u know what i mean. i wasnt too happy to see the wings were clipped, especially on a baby, u wouldnt think a "silly tame" grey would need to have its wings clipped. i felt sorry for the bird,
-
yes i would have loved to rescue her, but i am worried as im not that experianced maybe i would damage her more 18 weeks isn't long to have a baby bird.
-
hi thanks for that! i have just been playing with george and he shakes hands (which he always does) just now i gave him my hand to shake and he held my hand and i kept i there to see how much he wanted to bite me, he just kind of mouthed me and thats it, i did i several times and he just mouthed not bit!
-
thanks for ur replys, george is sill not talking very much just his usual words! but even tho hes stopped sitting on me he lets me now give his head a good scratch which he didnt before, hes still very vocal and he has learnt that the very hih pitched alarm noises dont get him any attention but the ditties and dancing and talking get him praise and reward! he also has sooooo many facial expressions!

i went the other day too see a 30 week old african grey baby, i was not from the breeder it was bought from the breeder by the woman who was selling it (if u get me!) she said she was selling her as she didnt have enough time for her. and from what she told me she had an eclectus b4 and it bit her son so she sold it and her aunt has 2 greys, u wud think she would know if she had time for it or not. she advertised her as silly tame, when i went to see her she was growling and actually bit me, she had her wings clipped and landed twice on the floor with a very loud bang as it was laminate flooring, anyway i know i was a stranger but everywhere i look on the internet they say when u go o see a bird make sure its friendly to you. she wasnt particually "silly tame" with the owner, she let her stroke her and pet her once she was out the cage but in the cage she growled. it wud be nice to hear opinions on this as my george is semi tame and he has never ever growled at me or anyone that has visited me. (i know each bird is different) i didnt buy her in the end what should the criteria b for buying a grey?
-
Ok thanks but he always likes to stay on his cage or the sofa, is it ok to do this from here? Also he will step up onto a pearch but then flys off, what can I do then ? Shud I just start again? Also he sometimes let's me sctrach his head but sometimes bites me, shud I leave him alone and accept he's not a scratchy bird or is there something I can do to b able to pet him?
-
hi, does anyone know how i can stop george biting? hes not scared, its more aggressive behaviour. he wont step up and i want to know how to get him to do it without him biting. also he doesnt accept anything as a reward so i dont know how to prase hime except for with my voice which has limited effect. hes also been making a raspy noise often but i dont think its thru his nose its a vocal noise, does anyone know what this means or if their grey does it to, he does it all the time. thanks
-
hi everyone i hope tha some of u more experianced parrot people can help me,i have a male grey called george, he is 8yrs old and can say a few words, i was wondering how difficult is it goig to be to get him to learn more new words and can it b done? he is very brave no shy or scared of anything, he has never growled or got nasty, he likes a bit of a scratch on the head but on his terms and loves to sit amongst us but not being held, i heard shy birds r more difficult to teach to talk. i have tried to get him to say "hi" he looks interested and his pupils are changing and he makes little noises after i have said the word. also i dont expect him to talk straight away but if u have any idea of the best way to teach him and maybe some good starter words it would be a great help! thanks!
-
Yes I really appreaciate him taking the time to help me to understand George! It's good to know he's happy!
-
I don't get it either! Do u mean clipping their wings, the grey in the photo has supa short wings?
-
Gotchya! Thanks u have been most helpful.
-
I looked on eBay and there's quite a few treats in there, I might try the pecans, and brazil nuts thanks.
-
Thanks for that, I had read that the beak clicks mean they want to bite but he seems to do it when he's getting attention, he also makes a kind of raspy hissy wheezy sound usally when he's about to say something. He seems to be itching his back often to, could this b mites?
-
Thanks for your reply, I have been giving him lots of attention, I have been singing with him he's been joining in and dancing and he's been sat on the sofa laughing. He also makes a clicking sound with his beak what's this mean? And he like dips down an slightly opens his wings and beats them gently if u know what I mean? Why does he do this? And lastnight he kept opening his mouth really wide like a yawn but he kept doing it, what's that?

Hi everyone! I have a male CAG who lost his mate yesterday, I used to keep them outside buy moved him into the house after the one died so last night was his first night. When I bought him I was told he's semi tame but when I started talking to him in the pet shop the woman said "u can't do that they won't respond" anyway since moving him to the house he has sat on my shoulder and not growled etc and has been relaxed although he hasn't eaten any of his food, he has tho eaten our food, carrots potato chicken pizza chillie but not much, he seems ok in himself does anyone have any idea what the problem could b?
