  1. Yeah I have a baby boy and I'm kinda concerend bout him talking like a girl ( if he eva talks that is)
  2. wow she sounds JUST like a real person! shes amazing, this is going to sound stupd but do they have boy and girl voices cuz they r boyz and gurlz or does it depend on whos voice they r copying?
  3. im thinking of trying pellets for milo, how much do u have to give them a day? hes on seed at the moment. i will have to experiment with different pellets, its difficult to know what to do for the best.
  4. i have just had my new baby one week, hes 12 weeks old now. at the moment he likes everyone including my kids but he only clucks at me and comes to me for comfort, i have been touching him all over but he likes a scratchy head, he is very loving at the moment but he is also very brave and a bit of an explorer. i think its beneficial to touch them all over wings and feet and tail cuz of claw trimming, (if u want wing clipping) or vets trips or harness training and just so they trust u and feel confortable with u! i was told by my breeder not to give soft food as he will go back to being a baby, i was going to try oatmeal but im worried i will do it wrong! he eats alot and likes chilli peppers and egg. hes a real sweetie. i agree on the socialization thing as well, mine has met lots of different people and when he gets his harness hopefully he will be out and about congratulations on ur new baby cant wait to see some pictures.

  8. i bought an aviator harness size medium for my cag i got it off ebay, theres lots of places online tho, i dont know if u live in the uk or america but im i the uk and i ordered mine from america as they were £10 cheaper. they do seem a great idea as i dont want to clip milos wings either but it would be nice to be able to take him to the park or petshop or fairs etc! im not ssure what size u wud need so i'll let someone else answer that. they will tell u the siing tho wherever u buy them. i was also worried bout them escaping but the aviator is the only "parrot proof" harness on the market. milo is just 11 weeks so fingers crossed it wont be to stressful for him, i think its a goo idea to practice touching them all over as much as u can in preperation, and rewarding them with a favourite treat, i have already started lifting milos wings slightly and touching his head. the aviator harness has no clipd to rub or irritate and everyoe on here seems to think they r great.
  9. I bought the harness. I have been practicing touching him all over and I have also covered his face, he doesn't mind, fingers crossed he will not put up too much fight. Looking forward to being able to take him out.
  10. thats so great 4 u 2! im frm the uk too! i will definatly be getting the aviator, i watched a youtube video and it looked tight to get over the head ,is it?
  11. does he like it? where do u take him?
  12. thanks, i thought the aviator was the best, i will buy it. hes 11 weeks now what size do i get?
  13. hi all, i am looking to but a harness for milo, i see the aviator ones look more confortable as no buckles, but my question is just how secure are they to take them out in? could it snap or one of the conections fail? any input would be great. also if u have experiance of the other harness on the market i would be interested to hear ur review. thanks in advance
  14. Thanks, he's been eating pasta today, and playing with his new puzzle toy. He is very funny to watch playing with his new toys! He has taken a shine to my nearly 3 year old daughter, supervised of course!
  15. yes he likes fruit and veggies i have been giving him daily, is it ok to give him cooked pasta or rice? he has got a bit more vocal since i first bought him home. i read on here that some people gave oatmeal, how do i make it for him with milk or water and should it be any particular kind of oatmeal? and he flew for the first time today! also he has a ball which he jumps and pounces on and spreads his wings wide screeching at it, he also does the same to balled up tissue and crumbs i think hes playing because hes not hackles up groweling but just to make sure can u tell me what u all think? is he scared? annoyed? or playing?
  16. yes it was great advise, i have put a blanket and 2 small cushions under the newspaper. he is very loving last night he fell asleep on my shoulder all curled up like a little chicken, hes been playing thismorning with a rattle ball pouncing on it! he loves kisses, i find the noises he makes difficult to understand what he wants, also he keeps licking my arms why is this? thanks
  17. hi thanks for ur replies, tycos mum he is holding on and flapping hes not clipped and he is fully weaned, he likes his fruit and veggies too. hes been climbing round his cage but i never thought to put a blanket at the bottom i will do this as i know he is clumbsy. thanks for ur advice! i havent had a baby b4 i have been reading up on them but it never fully prepares u for their arrival.
  18. i bought my new baby home yesterday, his name is milo and he is 11 weeks old. he has been so cheeky running round the floor and foraging between the spfa cushons. he isnt making too much noise tho. what should he be dooing at this age, i know he is very young but in everyons experiance what generally do they do at 11 weeks? he likes carrots! http://s591.photobucket.com/albums/ss358/milo2009_01/
  19. judygram i know what u mean and i dont expect them to want to be in the middle of everything, my new baby will have his own cage and his own corner of the living room, i will not expect anything of him and i will not push him. the kids are at school in the day and sleep about 7 at night so he shouldnt get to overwhelmed, but i feel its the same with any pet u have,no animal likes to be crowded and they r unpredictable. thanks for ur opinion
  20. i agree 100% i think its the same for all animals, its what they're used to not what species they r. if u train the kids and socialize the animal from a young age i think they could live together. i agree about rescues as well. thanks for your input
  21. hi everyone i am due to collect my new baby boy tomorrow and i have seen numerous comments on the net about small children and african greys and that they dont mix well. i used to have a male CAG and he LOVED children it seemed the closer they were to him and they were very loud i have 3 of my own and my sis in law has 5 and another little boy all round his cage and he loved it he came up to them was singing to them and talking, he never once growled, and he didnt come from a home with children. he was also very relaxed around them stealing their toys and coming right onto the living room floor with a family of 5. do you think that maybe greys are just like most other animals and if they are used to children they will be fine but if they r used to a very quite house they wiill be skittish? i find all animals are like this. its just a thought. im not saying trust kids and parrots to play together etc obviously supervise them like you would any animal it just seems that some people seem to make a big deal that greys and children dont mix, my sister has a guina pig she has no children and when it sees my children it gets scared does this mean guinna pigs and children dont mix. my children are quite well behaved and i have taught them how to deal with animals. and you have to teach children to be quiet and gentle around any animal not just african greys. it would be nice to have other opinions. maybe we made our own stereotype about the birds. everyone also says birds like to be in the busiest room and are very social then they seem to contradict themselves by saying they r not family pets? a single person or couple would have a quieter household than a family. this is just a general discussion and just an idea it will be great to hear other opinions.
  22. hi, very sorry to hear about the trouble ur son got in to but also very happy to hear that he is on his way to you, i have 3 young kids and even in the uk there seems to be an increase in stabbings and shootings and murders so u must be soooooooooooo relieved that the is still alive and not seriously injured. is he going to live with u or just staying for a while?

  24. hi, he is so very sweet! just wondering tho howcome u had him from so young?
  25. im supposed to get my little boy around 10th june, looking forward to it so much this month will go so slow i bet, i went to visit my breeder, and got to play with the babies, they were so sweet and cuddly! here the prices for the babies varies so much, there r breeders around me but one i have been to see has so mmany all together in a pet shop environment and was charging £750 per baby, the one i have gone with is a bit further but they are way more reasonable and i prefer their home raised environment! so howcome u decided on 2? do u have any other birds?
