    Sunshine

how often should I expose my TAG to the sun? Keemo's Cage is in the middle of the living room, and the sun does not get to where his cage is located ... a friend of mine visited me today and said that i should expose him to the sun more often... to be honest at this time of the year ... the sky is cloudy most of the time and the weather is windy and i am really afraid that if i put him next to a window he will get cold because of some wind leakage especially the sun is hidden most of the time and we barely see it an hour a day .. so i think there is not point of putting him next to a window while the weather is not that good... I will leave with some pics for keemo <br><br>Post edited by: bebo08, at: 2008/12/22 19:44
  4. Kewl ... thank you Judy...
  5. Hi does anyone know if this website www.goodbirdinc.com is a good website to buy the training material from or not?
  6. Thank you Carolyn ... did Mika scream or bite when you used to teach him the step up/down? well for me i cannot force my hand as Keemo will just bite and cause severe injuries ... I use the perch to teach him the up command however he will protest for at least 15 minutes and keep on biting the perch before he steps up and when he does step up he will stand still for 1 minute or less then he will flyaway ... you should see the trails he leaves on the perch after each training session .... I am not desperate ... on the contrary i am determined on gettin' him tamed ... yet his aggressive approach in fighting the perch is just heart breaking...
  7. Hi ... I found that my Timneh "Keemo" formerly known as "bebo" is an untamed TAG ... i bought him 9 days ago and his growling behaviour has improved as he stopped growling that often .. on the contrary he started to accept eating from my hand and sort of enjoy it. I've been reading around in the past few days regarding taming unhandled birds and came through many tips and recommendations about the do's and dont's ... my very worry now is that i found there are 2 extreme theories regarding teaching your parrot the "step up" command 1) somewebsites say give your parrot the time talk to him and read stories make him get used to your hand then 1 or 2 months later start training the "step up" command 2) the other websites say that you should give your parrot maximum 10 days and then start the training and the bird should be worked with as soon as possible, because the older a bird gets and the more ways it learns to avoid you, the harder it will be to tame.... i found this website http://www.parrotscanada.com/ which basically a supporter of theory # 2 ..... can you please advise which thoery is the correct one and if the training in this website under the section "for the new bird owners" makes sense or nothttp://www.parrotscanada.com/birdowner/forthenewbirdowner.html<br><br>Post edited by: bebo08, at: 2008/12/20 07:42
  8. I was wondering what is the minimum temperature that my TAG can tolerate ... I live in Jordan/ME, and in this time of the year we have a really really cold weather, temperature can go down at nigh to 0 C, though the heat is on throughout the day yet when we turn it off at night then my house can be a very one cold place ...
  9. Thank you man ... I actually was wondering if i can find pictures of how bad can AG cause to someone's hand or fingers?
  10. wow ... excellent .. thank you buddy B)
  11. I posted 4 days ago in the Welcome Room that I got my TAG 'Keemo' last wednesday, in the first 2 days he did not accept me to get close to the cage, today he allows me to feed him which is hopefully a good sign ... i started providing him food through the cage bars then slowly i opened the cage door and started to give him the food while my hand is actually inside the cage. however my point is, whenever i have food in my hand he will allow me be next to him and put my hand inside the cage, nevertheless, if i even touched the cage bars without having any food in my hands he will start growling and growling ,,, do you think i should keep on providing food to him until he gets used to me? a friend of mine told me that even if he growls i should keep on putting my naked hand on the cage bars until he stops growling..and i should not let him get used to me provding food only ... please advise.
  12. I was wondering if my 6 months Timneh "Keemo" eat cooked meat?
  13. Hey .... thank you all for your feedback .... well yes i used to have a Cockatiel for 1 year but he only flew away 1 month ago... i felt very bad becasue it was my fault ...cause i let his wings grow and did not clip them as my vet advised ... what really worries me is that i am getting alot of advises that i should hold my grey and talk to it .... the thing it wont allow me ... i should be at least 1 meter away from him to accept me ...if i get close to his cage and try to put my finger on the cage bars he will instantly start growling and screaming .... i guess from what i read is that i need to give him couple of weeks to adapt .... and as they say patience is a virtue i will keep you guys posted ... thank you again..
  14. thank you luvparrots ... well actually his name is bebo .... and i will make sure to go now to the nursery room and read the different topics that are in there .... thank you for the advise
