yeah .. i thought at least for once i will give information instead of taking info as i noticed that this question in specific has been repeatedly asked by the forum members ... i am actually weaning kiki now to stop eating junk food and start eating veggies and lets hope that info in this website will work.. i am actually practicing method # 2 ...

I found this website for converting the diet of your beloved ones and i think its very good .. http://www.tailfeathersnetwork.com/birdinformation/convertingdiet.php

hi .. i am having a small issue with kiki, which is basically whenever i open the cage top .. she goes up and then she flies away ... unlike keemo who keeps standing and playing with the toys he has ... i noticed that kiki flies and then 15 minutes later when she finds that everything is blocked with either blankets or big furniture pieces she flies back to the cage ... however in the meantime she poops almost everywhere  ... so do you think this behaviour will stop once she figures out that there is no place to go except for her cage top?

we have an arabic proverb that says "if you believe in bad luck it will follow you" so one day i was going with a friend of mine to visit a friend in common who lives near the shoreline ... so in the plane we were talking about the same subject matter and this same friend believes in the bad luck associated with crows ... so when the plane landed we took a taxi to get to our friend's house then when the taxi dropped us off my friend got attacked by one vicious crow and it caused severe wounds in his right arm ... yet i dont belieive in this bad luck thing ...

Heeeeyy ... i was born on the 13th of March but not friday .. this year my birthday will be on friday ... but no ... i think believing in such things is just BS ... some of my friends beleive that if they saw a crow during their day they would have a very bad day ... they dont know that crows eat their breakfast in my balcony every morning ...

hi Judy ... its not keemo ... its KiKi ... keemo is the male kiki is the female do you think the name kiki is silly?!:silly: i dunno ... i am open to suggestions

Good Morning, well THANKS TO GOD ... she seems to be okay this morning ... i opended the cage top today and then 10 minutes later she climbed willingly on the cage bars and then flew out of the cage and i saw her walking and the limp seems to be disappeared:) i think climbing willingly is an indication of having a healthy leg .. right? as i still can see her leg swollen but i belieive this is normal becuase even Keemo does it most of the time ...

thank you Carolyn ...

Hi ... i just came back from the vet ... and i DID NOT clip her wings... however, the vet told me that there is no infection and her leg seems to be okay ... and he said that he recommends to take off the ring ... so he took it off ... he said that i should expect to see her limping a little bit ... and thats what happened ...he also said that she might have her leg swollen for couple of days .... and thats normal ... please let me know what do you think ... i am watching her right now .. and its true her leg is swollen most of the time even when she eats !!! i have to add one thing ... that she climbs normally on the cage bars..<br><br>Post edited by: bebo08, at: 2009/01/03 19:14

what kind of problems could the wings clipping cause?! to be honest ... i used to be cockatiels owner and greys are new to me ... i used to clip my cockaitels when they were young ... as they could hit a wall or a door when they fly out of the cage ... however when they become older and learn how to do a safty landing i stop the clipping things ... Keemo has never flew when he is out of the cage ... but kiki the first time ever out of the cage she flew and hit the man door ... so safety could be a second reason ...

btw, when i go to the vet ... do you recommend having her wings clipped? the pet store said its better to clip her wings as she will be easier to tame...
-
the thing is the vet told me that he couldnt find the band cutter and he said to call him back tomorrow to see if he will find it or not? i am going now to check with another vet ... he is 1 hour drive from my home ... dunno his name to call him and check :pinch: i will let you guys know..

well now .. as we speak ... she seems to be eating from the food dish ,,,, i put for her a mix of large parrot food ... cockatiel seeds ... and veggies ... she is eating only the small seeds i guess ... at what age do you think she will start eating fruits and vegetables?
-
hi ... my 2.5 months baby timneh has a ring around her leg ... she keeps on biting it ... so i thought its small and decided to hava closer look ... so when i looked at it i found that its not small however her leg is very red because of the biting ... do you recommend taking off the ring? and if yes how can i do it
-
Hi ... i just got my female baby Timneh ... she is 2.5 months.. but i dont know she doesn't seem to be eating from her food... its the same food i am using for Keemo my 7 months old TAG.... is there a special diet for baby greys? a special kind of food maybe ... i checked with the pet store he said that i should feed her Cockatiel seeds ... but she doesn't seem to be eating it as well... please help ....
-
well ... i am already considering having them in seperate cages ... becasue keemo is just very aggressive .. and i have that feeling that he will not treat her right ... however the age is my main concern ... what do you mean by feeding her once a day ,,, you mean by spoon or hand feed her or what? and is it okay if i fed her early in the morning before i leave to work?
-
yes she is fully weaned .. and i saw her yesterday ... i will read the link now and check what does it have to say...
-
hi folks.. i am seriously considering adopting a second TAG ,,, she is 2 months and a half old ... she is the cutest little bird i have ever seen ... i think i fell in love with her ... however are there any specific things i need to know about first) adding a 2nd bird to the family second) adopting such a little young bird...
-
thank you judy very much ... i hope that you dont mind the big number of questions i am asking here and there
-
well i guess i have to be patient
-
Happy New YEAR folks .... well, i was wondering ... when should i expect my bird TAG to start talking and make sounds? I am not sure if this is normal or not ... but he doesnt make any sound at all .. 'except for the growling of course'.... he is 7 months old now ...
-
Thank you Dan ... its just i really hope that someday my bird will bond with me ... i really love him though he is not that firendly ... i just enjoy watching him fighting with the toys he has inside his cage...

after 3 days of training ... i think i have a stubborn bird ... i think i gave up the idea of training him ...
-
hi judy ... well yeah .. her videos are different than the other training videos i found on youtube ... however ... there are somethings that she doesn't give any guidance on ... its more of you need to predict i.e. the type of perch to use for training .. size of perch ,, etc .. as i believe these things matter when you apply Barbra's training ... but all in all they are good ... there is one thing that i am not sure about regarding Keemo's training today ... is that when i started to rub his leg he refused to eat the treats that i was giving to him ... its weired ... do you have any idea why?
-
hi judy ... well, i started off today with the 'step up' command video ... and i can tell you that there is some sort of progress ... slowely but sort of surely .. keemo did not step up at all ... however his right leg touched my hand couple of times ... after 30 minutes of training i felt very tired .. and for me not to get frustrated ... i decided that i want to try something else that has nothing to do with the training ... so i tried to rub his leg with my index finger .. surprisngly he was OKAY with that ... so i kept on rubbing his right leg then i started to move my finger a little bit higher and he was also okay with that .... i hope that this is a good indication for some kind of trust from his side ... i have to admit one thing that he bit me when i tried to move my index finger from his right leg to the left leg .. but it was not the attacking kind of bite .. i felt like he was telling me ... dont cross the line anyways i am so excited for the next training session ... however ... if there is one thing i learnd is that i should not be building high expectations in order not to get disappointed .. i am optimistic yet i believe that bonding with keemo will take some time ...
