  1. I have a male BF zon who is now 4 years and 6 months old. He is the sweetest most gentle guy. I've talked about my Louie who won't let me hold him but he does sit on my arm on his terms. He flies to me and sits on my arm as his choice. He is a nibbler, not a true biter. He just seems to need to nibble on me or anyone and I have not figured out why. He is a rehome that I have had for a couple of years now. He is the most liked of my three parrots although he won't like anyone touch him. He will not step up unless I am seated. Why I don't know. Louie is always busy and fully of fun and energy. If he had had a loving home in the beginning I wonder what he would have been like because he so wants to be loved and to love but is afraid. Maybe someday. Choose the zon you want, they are all different and if they are given a loving home that makes all the difference in the world.
  2. Congratulations to Tango! This will be interesting to see if Tango continues to explore now that she has found her wings!!!
  3. Lovely update on Lola. She is priceless!
  4. I have never seen any anger or "I want to be alone" body language from Louie. He always follows me around from room to room and sits where he can see what I am doing. He is always just open and trying to understand what I would like him to do or where I would like him to go. He has the most beautiful brown eyes with long lashes that always are smiling. He does like to nibble on me, not bite but nibble and when I figure that out then we're golden.
  5. Looks like Nilah realllllllyyyy welcomed Piper to the flock!!!!LOL!!! Looking forward to seeing how this bonding goes!
  6. If a bird is clipped it can still be carried away in the wind. Many of person has lost a grey/bird because they believed it could not fly if it were clipped.
  7. Well a lot of your problem is that your grey can sense your fear of being bitten so obliges. I would change the routine. Put the grey back down before your father leaves the room and that problem is solved. If you want a grey/parrot to like your or spend time with you it has to be on the parrot's timetable and because the grey wants to do that. Your biggest obstacle is your fear and until you can overcome that, you need to be observe your father and see why the grey likes him so much. A grey bites because he is being asked to do something he does not want to do or he is afraid.
  8. Congrats on the new member of your flock. Looking forward to hearing how he settles in.
  9. You have to decide which fits best in your heart. Your grey is a lovely little sweetheart.
  10. It won't hurt their eyes if a little gets in while spraying but no you should not be spraying them in the eyes or face. My CAG loves to come up to the nozzle and take the spray directly into his mouth. He seems to love the taste.
  11. Hi Lisa, I can relate. I re-homed an amazon that I have had for 21 months now and he still won't step up for me or let me touch him. We have worked together to get it so we can both be happy. He comes out of his cage when I want and he goes back into his cage when I ask all without touching him. So I believe you and Rosie will find the right ways for you both too. All it takes is you both wanting to get along. My Louie watches me closely to see what I am asking him to do and he complies. Patience is the key and both of you being willing to find the right fit for you both.
  12. Excellent news Penny!!! Can't wait to see your tiel Hooray!!
  13. Hi Heather, looking forward to learning more about Bird. Welcome to the Grey family!
  14. Congratulations on your baby boy!!!
  15. Always my favorite when they are just having fun because they can!!!!! Great picture!
  16. What a cute video of Gracie!! I liked the sweet little bark!!!
  17. You know if I see something I want to save on the forum, I just print it out or I copy it and paste it in my personsal documents on my computer for my own information. I believe Dave007 has done a great job of making health threads and making them stickies in the Health Room where they should be. I also believe there is a sticky of poisonous food in the Food Room where it belongs. As for favorite foods all greys are different so each grey likes something different so a list is impossible to make of the 10 favorite foods. There is also a thread of behavioral changes at different ages for greys also that DanM made long ago. So all the things you want are all here in the rooms they belong in and all you have to do is search and read. If you want a thread of all these things then make one for yourself or to share if you like.
  18. Thanks for taking us to the beach with you!
  19. I was thinking more on the line of Butler/Maid, Judy!! LOL!!
  20. Out of curiosity, are they housed together now in their present home? That would certainly make a difference.
  21. It just takes time for your grey to feel safe and trust you. I have a zon that I have been working with for 21 months and he has just recently started to step to me but only on his terms. He comes to me not me to him. Because your grey is now coming out of his cage calling to you, it's a start. Just be patient and continue to do whatever you are doing and give her time to feel safe enough to come to you. You don't know how much I wish I could get into my Louie's head and to find out what he is thinking but I can't so I move forward at his pace and let him lead the way. Be patient and one day your grey will be comfortable enough to come to you and trust you completely.
  22. When my Ana Grey came to me at 4 months old, her breeder had already clipped her against my wishes. It took her a little over a year to be able to fly again but she tried everyday. I hung a knotted rope on her cage to the floor to help her get in and out of her cage. Of course this did not make her stop trying to fly but it did help her get from here to there. If you have any colored plastic wrap (its usually around the stores at Halloween and Christmas time) you can make your own stickies in any shape/fashion you like. It clings really well to windows and mirrors and birds can see the colored wrap easily.
  23. Kiki sure knows how to get her way! Good girl! All zons sure love their showers!! Would love to see a picture of Kiki when you get a chance!
  24. Louie likes to lay on his back when he is outside and taking in the sun. It's quite cute to watch him maneuver around just so, so he can take in the sun at the proper angle.
  25. Why ever Chili Pepper is on his back in your hand, it looks cute and it shows that he trusts you a bunch. I also love those nails!!!
