  6. Dayna is lovely and it looks like she loves greys as much as you do. Great pictures, can't wait to see the video. Thanks for sharing.:kiss:
  7. Hi railchik, glad you could join us. I don't get my TAG until mid-November but I do alot of reading so here goes. Greys need to feel secure; a wobbly parrot is an insecure one. Greys need to grip to feel stable. Tuck you thumb into the palm of your hand. Hold your 4 fingers together, like the 4 sign. Hold your hand horizontal so that your pointer finger is the top finger and your palm faces toward you. Fold the 2 bottom fingers in and slightly bend the 2 top fingers. Your bird should then have a secure perch. If your bird seems wobbly pull you arm close to you so that it has the security of leaning against you while learning to sit on your fingers. Got this from my Barrons African Grey Parrots book. Hope it helps. We look forward to seeing pictures of you and Isabelle.:cheer:
  8. I just love your digital images and very glad you've come home.:cheer: :kiss:
  9. Shanny, I hope you got your friend because you like parrots not because it could learn to talk. Some don't and the timeline is different for each parrot. Read some of the other posts. Some are named at the top of this thread. It depends of the parrot, some talk as early as 4 months, some 6 months and some longer, some not at all. It all starts with mumbles and imitations of sounds. Be patient. Enjoy your friend for all its antics and the wonderful companionship it can provide. Good Luck!!!:cheer: Relax, have patience and enjoy!!!<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/10/08 20:26
  10. Hey Jake. I bet you know more about computers than most of us on this forum. I know my grandson does. So check out the "search forum" screen at the top of the page. Type in "food" "biting" "toys" whatever. There is a world of information there for you. Ask whatever questions you have. Everyone would love to help you. Have fun and please share your adventures with your bird with us.{Feel-good-000200BB}
  11. I'm from Washington State but I do know that our pet stores get there animals, birds, etc. from breeders, rescue services, and from former owners who want to find their birds new home for one reason or another. I know my bird's breeder had a pet store owner from Idaho coming in to get 2 of her babys for his store. There are birds on E-bay, Craig 's List from breeders, or present owners who don't want their birds anymore. I would believe its the same in most states. Washington is not unique. Hope that helps. Good Luck.
  12. Erika, go to "search forum" and type in "biting" a world of past posts will pop up. Loads of info. Please tell your hubby to be calm and don't give up, and don't react; so as not to encourage bad behavior. Good Luck!!
  13. Please check out the past posts in the forum. There's oodles of information about a zillion things. Just go to the white box at the top on the right that says "search forum". Type in a key word "foraging" or "biting" and see all the information about a subject. There is a world of help in this forum, enjoy and have fun.{Feel-good-000200BB}
  14. I think all will be fine. I grew up around chickens that were always picking up this and that. I think bird gizzards are made for grinding up all the things they pick up. Good to check with an avian vet to course.
  15. Oh yes, I'm seen greys dancing. It is hilarious. Please do video your grey and share PLEASE!!!
  16. I haven't seen my baby Tag yet, but talk to the breeder weekly. She has been breeding for 30 years. She says my little Tag has some red feathering around her bottom and breast area by its wings. She says the decedents in Africa must have had a little hanky panky between CAG and TAG. Who knows who cares, it certainly is not harmful. Post pictures, lets take a look at your new pretty. :cheer:<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/10/06 03:31
  17. Very, very cute picture!!! I've been enviously scrutinzing everyone's pictures to get ideas for toys for my new Tag. I love the boing!!! Certainly need to get one. Thanks for sharing.:kiss:
  18. I believe birds are probably like most animals, including humans, it all depends on how they are treated. The "vibe" they get from a person. Their experiences with a male/female perhaps. How they are socialized. i.e., Alot of people around or if they are cared for by just one person.:cheer:<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/10/06 01:12
  19. Welcome MB. Great pictures. Can't wait to get to know you and Simon!!!:cheer:<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/10/06 00:30

  21. Hi Janeth, Welcome to you and Echo. Lots of information in the forum search. Just type in a topic "foraging", "cage liners", etc. Loads of information there. Or just ask and someone will try to help.:cheer:

  24. Cute pic. Your sister is just babysitting for you right; until you can have you friend with you again? You are lucky you have family to leave your friend with. And so lucky that Liefie found you.:cheer:
  25. What research I have done says foraging toys are great for keeping your Greys from getting bored or plucking feathers. They stimulate their minds. I have sent off for several. Some of the ones I saw in your video in fact. Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed them.:kiss:
