  1. Hi Caz, its great when someone rehomes a grey. I looked for one before I found my baby Tag. I didn't have any luck, greys are popular here I guess. Can't wait to see your pictures.:cheer:
  2. Have you talked to the owner about the grey. Just a talk between grey owners. An exchange of information to get a feel for their relationship. That's what I would do in this case. To see what the situation really is. Good Luck.
  3. Of course you wouldn't want to leave your grey in its sleep cage all the time. It would be nice if your sitter could move your grey from place to place. Is the outside cage large enough for the sleeping cage to be put inside? Maybe your grey would go into the sleep cage (favorite treat inside) and your sitter could then move it into the house at night. Just a thought, just trying to help.:cheer:
  4. Sorry to hear you lost Tabu. Sounds like Fernando was lucky to find you though. Glad you could join us.
  5. Good job!!! I can't wait for you to post the website. I am just getting my new Tag's home ready for arrival in mid-November. Your helping the bird rescue is generous. Kudos to you. Bravo!!
  6. I guess some of the big questions are, is your sitter someone familiar with Mongo? Is that person familiar with big birds at all? Has your bird spent the night outside before? Will your bird be safe in the outside cage from things that might frighten it and also from theft? Would you leave a 5 year old child outside in the place your cage is? Is there a way for your sitter and Mongo to get familar with each other before you leave so that your bird could sleep inside in its sleep cage? I know you love your friend or you would not have asked; greys affect people that way. Good luck in finding the best thing to do.
  7. Welcome Stephanie. It sounds like you have everything well at hand. Sounds like you probably have already asked the prior owner all about Gryphon's schedule and habits. Do you work for the bird sanctuary on the blogspot? The setting looks familiar, I believe I was there a few years ago. I loved the new boss, Sid, he would be great for the photo contest that is going on right now, if he were a grey that is.:cheer: Glad you could join us. There are wonderful people and greys in this forum. They will be able to help with some great advice. Hope to see Gryhon pics real soon.
  8. Thanks for the feedback. Frankly, I was afraid the problem was with one of the sellers I was ordering from. I'm glad it was not. Just my kind of luck I guess. Also, my bank took care of everything for me and is sending the necessary fraud paperwork for signature and of course, a new card.:cheer:<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/10/10 19:54
  9. Great pictures!!! Thanks for sharing.
  10. That is hysterical!!! Have you posted somewhere how you've done this? I would like to potty train my TAG when I get it. Congratulations. I am learning so much from reading the posts you and others long time grey owners share so generously.:cheer:
  11. Thank you for sharing the picture of your baby CAG with us. Pepper is a great name. My TAG is the same age and I have not seen it yet. So I appreciate your picture, it gives me some idea what my baby might look like though smaller. I talk to my breeder once a week (don't want to drive her crazy):cheer: and she is so generous about telling me what she has been doing with her babies. Anyway, thanks again. J
  12. There could be a zillion reasons your new friend is plucking. It sounds like its living conditions were pretty rough. Since you have a happy healthy Amazon it will probably be a good idea to keep them apart until your new friend has a chance for an avian vet check up. If I were you I would e-mail either DanMcq or Dave007 of this forum. They are what I would call the resident "Docs" They have a world of good advice and expertise. And Kudos to you for having such a big and kind heart to rescue a Grey in need. Bravo!!!
  13. Sounds like Elmo just wants what you like or what you are using. He probably wonders why his friend won't share!!!
  14. Hi Erin, welcome to the forum. You will quickly learn that there is a lot of great information here and some very nice people willing to help us understand our greys. Can't wait to see some pictures of Elmo.:cheer:<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/10/09 00:04
  15. Charlie, Keeko and Jaspers, The Three Musketeers. I love that spiral playstand. Thanks for sharing the great pictures.:cheer:
  16. How exciting Lynette. You must be having a great time getting to know your baby. Pictures please!!!:cheer:
  17. Your pictures are fantastic. I loved seeing your friend in the outdoors. Great job.
  18. Clicker training sounds interesting. This might be something I'll try when I get my TAG in mid-November.:cheer:
  19. Checked out the sites. You are a very talented photographer. Of course it helps to have a superstar as a model. Great Bird, great photography.<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/10/08 05:23
  20. I also would be a customer. Let us know your website for your wares. I'll be the first customer.:cheer:
  21. Hi Animalspirit. There is a story called "How the African Grey got its Red Tail." Just type in How the ... in the search forum at the topic of the page. By Graehstone. Hope this helps. And welcome to the forum.<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/10/08 03:14
  22. Welcome Scott, It is a great forum!!! I am learning so much from everyone. The search forum has loads of info to read and you should absorb what is germane to you. Everyone will try to help if you have questions, so ask away!!!
  23. I am new to the forum and will be getting my Tag next month. Anyway, in preparation for this big event, I have been having fun ordering everything I can think of, most of which I have seen in pics from this forum (thanks for all the ideas!) Anyhow, I just got my credit card bill and was in shock to see hundreds of dollars that I could not possibly have spent!!! To make this short. I called the number listed on one item and reached a Sporting goods outfit. Oh yes they were shipping three, yes three separate orders of sporting goods to Kuwait for me. OUCH!!! Of course I told them to STOP THOSE ORDERS, they were not mine and my next step would be my credit company. To make a long story short. The fraud dept. of my card company is checking this out. I didn't do on line ordering until I ordered for my new Tag. So, just curious to know has anyone else had any problems??? Or am I just that lucky?
  24. Very impressive. Congratulations. African Grey Parrots by Barron's is the first parrot book I purchased. I'll be awaiting your first book. You will of course be presenting us all with an autographed copy no doubt.!!!! :cheer:
  25. Hi domyoburk, there are alot of experts in this forum and those who have multiple greys. There is a great thread called "How do you Cuddle Your Grey". I think it will answer some of your questions. All you need do is go to the white area called "search forum" and type in How do you Cuddle... and numerous threads will pop up. This works for any topic "foraging" "biting" you see lots of comments, advice, etc. I hope this helps and good luck with your Grey.
