1. Of course, not everyone bathes their grey the same way. You should choose what works for you and Joey. I bathe Ana Grey in the sink every third day and spray her with 1/2 Aloe Vera and 1/2 water the other two days. I set the water lukewarm and in a small stream and pop her under it. She will stand there and get soaked. I lift her wings and splash water under her wings and on her stomach. I plug the sink so she stands in the water and gets soaked. I never wash her head as I do not want to get water in her ears. When we are through she stands on the divider between the two sinks and flaps her wings to drip dry. I place you under her full spectrum light on the top of her playtop to totally dry. She flaps her wings and jabbers away practicing her words. I still don't understand what she is trying to say, probably cussing me out!!!!:woohoo:
2. Ana Grey always knows when its sleep time, or at least when its time to return to her cage. Never fails wherever she is, in the dining area or living room, come about 8:30 pm and she heads for her cage. She always snacks before she sleeps and when I say "nite nite" she hustles onto her sleeping perch before I turn the lights out and close the door. I don't use a cover as the room is dark. When the sun comes up I hear her moving around in her cage, she is an early bird--I am not. The house's temperature is set for 62 degrees at night. If it was colder I would use a cover if needed. What Joey says, "It's about night night time" that is so cute.
3. I'm for leaving the grate in. I believe it is much more sanitary for our fids. But I am retired and can clean my grey's cage daily which to me is much easier than cleaning once a week. Of course I am a clean freak when it comes to my pets, even my cats were housebroken and went outside when I had cats!!!
4. When I got my grey, the breeder had already clipped her wings (for her protection:angry:) I will let Ana Grey grow them out:) In the meantime, she follows me around by walking after me. She comes straight to me, she has a great seem of always knowing there I am. I am lucky that I have all hardwood floors so I can hear her clicking after me. She also heads for my feet to climb up my pants leg. She loves to sit on my feet before she climbs up. I do fear stepping on her:( If I am in a hurry or know I will be distracted and might not watch for her, I put her in her cage before I leave the room. I keep her travel cage in the living room so I can quickly slip her in if I need to. If I could figure out a way to bell her, I would:laugh: It would make life so much simpler!!!

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/03/04 19:03
5. Congratulations Joe!!!!
6. I'm sorry Ralph that Spencer is being so stubborn. Just relax and offer him treats and be patient with him. Talk to him and always be there for him. Be patient and don't be stressed in front of him for greys are so in tune to our feelings. He will see your good heart and come around.
7. Hi Joe, Joey is a very lucky grey to have found such a caring and honest individual to finally give him a forever home. I have a 7-month old grey so I have no experience with older greys. I only wanted to welcome you to the family. I respect your honesty and I know you and Joey will eventually bond and he will be a great companion. Karma to you for taking in an older grey. Can't wait to see some pictures and hear more about Joey.
8. Ocean's Eleven - George Clooney
9. Mr. and Mrs. Smith - Brad Pitt
10. Susan, glad to hear Chloe calmed down quickly. Hopefully she will not be so upset next time she needs a manicure.
11. Thanks for sharing Tuki's growing process with us. It's fun to see them constantly changing.
12. Can't wait to see your creation, Gorgass.
13. It's a cute name. If it fits your grey's personality and you like it then Jazzi it should be!
14. Well Jacqueline, congratulations on your beautiful severe macaw, Petrie. I'm sorry you couldn't find the right grey at this time. It is not required that you own a grey to be member here, just that you love greys. I hope you do eventually find your Mr. Congo. There is a forum room here called Other birds where one can post pictures and information about other birds that members have. Many of our members have several kinds of birds in their flock and I love to see and read about all the beautiful birds that are owned by the forum family. I can't wait to hear more about Petrie.
15. Your fids are so lucky!!! I hope they appreciate all these great toys.
16. Man on Fire - Angelina Pelaez
17. Sounds like you have everything pretty well covered. If you have foot toys, you have a very good start. Welcome to the family.
18. Congratulations Yvette, I wish you and your new hubby a very happy life. You are a lovely young lady and a beautiful bride. Best wishes!!!
19. So glad you are back!!!!
20. Baby is a gorgeous grey. It's nice to finally see Baby. I'm so glad you are finally together again!
21. Some toy, gigantic to say the least. You are a genuine toymaker. Very impressed with your skills. If you ever set up shop let me know. I tip my hat to you.
22. Hi Skydiver, so sorry about Harley's fright and her flight. Don't give up--keep looking. I assume you also put up posters in the area. I would also walk the neighborhood and if she has a favorite call or word or phrase repeat it over and over just in case she is near. She might call back. I am so sorry and pray your Harley finds her way home.
23. So sorry Yvette about the loss of Liefie. Can you track down the painters and see if one of them has Liefie? As you have said, you do have Baby back and that must give you a lot of joy. Perhaps you could post a picture of Baby for us to see. I hope you're well and hope to hear from you more often.
