Stella certainly is a little cutie. I agree that toy is a little scary as Stella might just get tangled in it. Sometimes greys panic if they feel or are trapped, I suppose most birds would, and then they will do just about anything to get free, sometimes really harming themselves. Stella is a real sweetheart you must be so proud of her. Thanks for sharing her with us!

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/04/12 03:03
Ana Grey has a climbing net much like the one lovethatgrey posted. Ana's is 5' x 8 ' and hangs in front of my office window. Ana Grey's loves to travel between the net and her cage across her sisal rope bridge. I have hung foraging toys and other toys all through the net. She spends a lot of sunlight hours on that net in front of the window. I can't wait until it is warmer so I can open the window and let the sunlight in.

Is Beau biting or is he just using his beak to test things out. Ana Grey was 4 months old when I first got her and she used her beak to see if my finger was a good perch, we settled on my arm for awhile because she would grab hold so strongly with her beak it hurt. She was not trying to bite me, just hang on. Birds use their beaks like a hand for balance and to hold on to things, especially young birds. As for the beak rubbing, my grey cleans her beak that way on anything handy, including me.
I have wrapped a couple of playstands with sisal rope and make a couple of "crossing/hanging bridges for my grey with it. It seems to work great for her.
Perhaps he just wants a little space. My Ana Grey is a very sweet grey but some times she just wants to sit on the top of her cargo net and watch and preen and have some alone time. If she won't step up then I know to let her alone. Everyone needs some time to relax. There are times that Ana Grey stays in her cage when I open her door in the morning and comes out a couple of hours later. It does not need she dislikes me, it means what it is, "I just want to stay home right now." Perhaps Beau just wants to chill. Be patient he will be a member of the family a long time so let him gradually adjust.
What a wonderful story of unconditional love. Baley is a very special and very lucky grey to have found such a good-hearted companion. Karma to you for your compassion. Best of luck to you and Baley. I hope the vet gives you good news. Welcome to the family.
Congratulations Summer on Shaka Zulu's homecoming. Now the real fun begins. I think that's cute that he introduced himself to everyone in his new home. I hope the new family took his lead and introduced themselves as well. Can't wait to see some pictures of Shaka Zulu in his new home and hear more about how things are going.
Andrea, you have a nice little flock. It is apparent that Tequila is a re-homed grey, are your other fids also rehomed? If you have any pictures to share of your flock we would love to see them. Karma to you for taking in an older grey. Welcome to the family.

My Ana Grey just turned 8 months and I believe she says "hello" but it is kind of sing-songy so I'm not sure. and she says "Do, do, do" when I leave the room and I think it is part of the phrase "What you doing," but I'm not sure so I will wait and see. She jabbers away what I don't know. So we'll see. Que sera, sera, whatever, will be, will be.
Hi luv4jjt, I live on the NW part of the US so I can't help you with local breeders. I just wanted to welcome you to the forum. What kind of grey are you looking for a Congo or a Timneh? There are oodles of threads here with lots of information so if you get a chance just look around. Ask any questions you have and hopeful someone can help you out. Welcome to the family.
Glad to hear Gilbert is doing so well bonding with everyone. And am delighted the vet stamped him "A-OK!" Would love to see some pictures if you get a chance.
Hi JillyBeanz. How old is Harvey and how long have you had him? I agree, I am always cleaning up after my Ana Grey. If I didn't, I would need a personal garbage truck!!!! Glad you decided to join us. Welcome to the family!!!!
