  1. That is so funny, Cindy. Next he will be singing in the shower for the acoustics. I hope you can get Zzero on video. It would be so funny to see!!!!
  2. Thanks for the link, Azzie. I too have bookmarked it for further reference!! Karma to you for your thoughtfulness!
  3. Hi Patricia, everyone has a different experience with their baby greys. My Ana Grey was very well socialized by her breeder and wanted to be with me for cuddles and one on one time. So I obliged her. She is very independent and very loving at the same time. You are lucky to be able to see your baby often. Take your ques from Sloopy. Some greys are outgoing and others aren't. Read Sloopy body language and do what you believe is right for the kind of grey Sloopy is. One thing to remember is baby greys do need to rest and relax. Good luck with your baby they are so worth the effort!!! Welcome to the family.
  4. Oh have fun on your excellent adventure, Judy. I wish I lived closer. Can't wait to see some pictures and I hope others can enjoy the sanctuary as well.
  5. You are in lucky the time goes backward until just before the forbidden bite from Ollie, you are prepared this time and as time goes forward you quickly move your hand away but this frightens Ollie and he flies out the door your husband has just come in. You spend the rest of the night trying to bribe Ollie from the neighbors 40 feet evergreen tree in the pouring rain! I wish I could turn back time!
  6. Robin love your playstand and the yarn in a great idea. Pat, I love your Atom, what did you use to form the atom???
  7. I have a cargo net in front of the window that Ana Grey is most in contact with. And my grey loves to hang on it. It has several toys hanging on it from wood toys to foraging toys. She loves it! Perhaps that would help Dusty.
  8. I am so happy about your decision to keep Mika, Shazia. I couldn't image life without my Ana Grey. I wish you an easy pregnancy and birth with your sweet baby. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of Mika. Don't be a stranger to the family.
  9. MrsB, I am glad your surgery went well. And I am so sorry about your problems with your fids. My Ana Grey has picked up a screeching that Sully, my Eclectus, did when he first came here. Ironically, Sully has stopped but Ana Grey has continued. I just talk to her calmly and she quiets down. I am determined to see that Ana Grey stops this behavior. Hang in there, they are so worth the time and love.
  10. Awwwww what a big girl Adaya is getting to be!!! I love to watch your sweet grey!!!
  11. Before I got my grey, because I want her to be able to fly all over, I replaced all my carpets in my home with hardwood laminated floors and all the bathrooms with tile. It is the best thing I ever did. The thing now in homes in my area anyway, is laminated/hardwood floors instead of carpet. I live in Washington State so it can get cold here but I didn't mind at all this winter and my house was very cozy. It is easy to clean too!!!
  12. As background, I just purchased a VOS (I believe) Eclectus from the owner of a local pet store. His name was Butch which I detested because he butchered his feathers so badly. I named him Solomon and call him Sully. Since being in my quieter less active household Sully has not plucked once. In the pet store he was faced with about 15 or more birds (3 of which were Cockatoos) and it was noisy. Many people came in and out; it was, to be kind, hectic there. Sully is a quiet, calm, lumbering giant. I believe I am Sully's fifth owner, the original who lost him over 8 years ago, the owner of the pet store, and two separate households who both returned him to the pet store for screeching and biting. Sully is a quiet soul and he has stopped plucking, has never bitten me except once in the pet store, which I believe was my fault, and Sully has completely stopped screeching. So I believe nervousness caused by a hectic atmosphere can be a great factor in plucking. Now my problem is that Ana Grey has learned from Sully to screech, much too my dismay!!!
  13. My Ana Grey loves pine nuts and pecans. Good luck with your sweet baby!
