  1. Hi Kevin, so very glad you decided to join the family!!! Can't wait until you get this picture thing figured out as I look forward to seeing Dorian Grey and your other fids. Welcome to the Grey Family!
  2. That is very cute Penny, but I wouldn't trust that Too for a moment! :woohoo:
  3. mareeee wrote: That is great advice Mareee, karma for the suggestion!
  4. People do this all the time, you meet someone and for some reason you like them or dislike them. Go figure. Perhaps it is just sixth sense.
  5. Having a humidifier also help with the dry skin of your grey, Kevin. I have one in my bird's room and I believe it helps a lot. There are threads here in the forum talking about use of humidifiers for our greys.
  6. Hi kayleightommy, as others have said your new grey is a little anxious and afraid. He needs some time to get use to his new home. If he is squawking it is most likely because he is afraid. So your dad and boyfriend should just talk nicely to him and not try to get too close until he is more comfortable. My grey loves pine nuts perhaps this is a treat to be saved for your dad and boyfriend to give to your grey. There are oodles of information in the rooms of this forum, please review this information and ask any questions you may have. Karma to you for taking in an older grey.
  7. Hi Glenda, don't worry about feeling stupid, I had to wait for about three months before I got my baby grey and I hung around here all the time, reading and asking and down right being a nuisance. Everyone was very nice and helpful to me. I'm proud to say Ana Grey is an independent loving grey and all thanks to the experienced members of this forum. I have rescued an older eclectus who lived in a pet shop for over 7 years who is a terrible plucker. Maybe you can give me some tips to help him. Can't wait to hear more about your rescued grey. Karma to you for taking in an older grey. Welcome to the Grey Family!
  8. Fingers crossed and many prayers going Tobie's way for beautiful flight feathers to grow for him. Best wishes for you Tobie. Be very careful with your new feathers, sweet fid.
  9. He is a nice looking parrot, Summer. Hopefully someone will the appropriate space and time will be able to adopt him soon.
  10. Hi Susan nice to hear from you and Chloe. I look forward to hearing more about Chloe and seeing some new pictures when you get a chance. Welcome back to the Grey Family, you've been missed!
  11. What a great idea Maggie! You must take lots of picture of the flock and all the fun!!!
  12. That was beautiful to watch. But no it is not something I would try to do with my grey. But thanks for sharing it Paulo!
  13. Great video of Caco, Paulo! Thanks for sharing him with us!!
  14. Hi Jen, so happy to hear from you, it has been quite awhile. It's great to hear about Sadie Grey, we so enjoyed watching her grow up. Would love to see some new pictures of Sadie Grey and Lyric!!! hint, hint!!
  15. My Ana Grey loves to flap her wings and practice her words. She does it in the AM and also in the PM. But I agree with others, if you think it is more than just exercising or letting off steam then I would see your grey's avian vet for a checkup.
  16. First, of course, clipping is a personal choice. My grey, Ana Grey, was clipped when I got her at 4 months old. She tried everyday to fly and it broke my heart to watch her try. She is headstrong and very independent. It took a year, for her to get her flight feathers back and I worked/helped her to fly by "launching" her everyday. She is fully flighted now and loves to zip around the house looking for me. She has perches and boings all around the house and it is a delight to watch her fly around. I also feel so much better about her safety for now that she can perch up higher I don't have to worry about stepping on her. From the very beginning I have always seen that she knew where she could land and where she couldn't. Greys are very smart, she only lands on her perches and boings and knows my woodwork and drapery rods, etc. are off limits.
  17. I'll drink to that, again!!!
  18. Hi Paulo welcome to you and Caco. If you have any pictures of your new baby, we would love to see them. I can't wait to hear more about Caco!
  19. My fids love their apples and beets!

  21. How very lovely Lyn. Thank you for finding and sharing this lovely Rescuer's Rainbow Bridge with us!
  22. Gee Jill, is F.A.R.T. now a defunct organization?????
  23. Ouch to you all. So far, my fids have not broken any skin. I consider myself very lucky!
  24. The Mariana Trench or the Challenger Deep got its name from the British survey ship Challenger II, which pinpointed the deep water off the Marianas Islands in 1951. Then in 1960, the US Navy sent the Trieste (a submersible - a mini-submarine designed to go really deep) down into the depths of the Marianas trench to see just how far they would go. They touched bottom at 35,838 ft/10,923m. That means, while they were parked on the bottom, there were almost seven miles/11km of water over their heads! If you cut Mount Everest off at sea level and put it on the ocean bottom in the Mariana Trench aka Challenger Deep, there would still be over a mile of water over the top of it!
  25. We say both Bernie, it depends on the circumstances. My 20-old grandson says "sweet" all the time. People use to say "nice" now its "sweet".
