Thanks all for sharing your experience with harness Zahra
-
hmm i experienced he was actually annoyed by it that's why i didn't use it anymore but was wondering if there are other problems with aviator like with the fether tether..
-
I got the feather tether harness for Noah a while ago but i noticed there are too many buckles in it and they are kinda big. Do you think i should continue using it or should i buy Aviator harness ? Zahra

we tried playing our own recorded sentences for him but he never said anything from that tape so basicly talking to a parrot is the best way fx when you feed him tell him what food you are giving him fx etc.. We heard this advice from a parraot behaviorist but we never believed in it untill Noah picked on a word that my husband tells him in the morning.. Parrots learn much faster when they can see a connection between the word you tell them and a certain situation/something they do. Anyone who have experienced the same thing as us ?
-
thanks

I'm very happy Noah said his first sentence ever: "is that a good boy ?" he says it in the same tone as my husband.. in a very cute way.. And he have said it many times today because he knows he will get treats after saying it He is about 11 months now.. Any suggestion how to improve his talking ability i would like him to talk much... ? Zahra

I have read the book: "for the love of greys" it's everything you need to know before getting your African grey, but it's only the basic stuff in it. I specially liked the list of food and that is importan for African greys. Anyone who have read this book "me and alex" if so what do you think about it, do you recommend it ? Zahra

hehe that's funny and very cute

Today i went out with Noah, i went to a busy area and people loved it! one of them had birthday and told his wife that it was his best gift on his birthday alot of people came and talked to me. I took Noah out with me because he is very laid back and needs to see more people beside us second because i want people to get to know African greys/parrots in general explain how wonderful those creatures are but alos how demanding they are. I have actually decided that in the future i will try to get permission to go to schools and explain children about parrots. Maybe find some peopel around this area that will do it too with me. My experience today was great!

I'm wondering about something, when we got Noah CAG he was around 3 months old is he weaned too early ? I ask this question because many times he opens his beak, look up and make a noise it looks like like birds in the wild do when they want food. He eats in general very good. Thanks Zahra

Someone mentioned they give their grey raw meat i read somewhere its not good to offer your little friend is that true?

no seed mix but "pretty bird species specific"
SarahDavid replied to SarahDavid's topic in Bird Food
Thank you so much for your advice, is it also important that seed mix is available for Noah all time along with the pellets ? -
We just changed the food for Noah he is about 4 months old but the old food was a mix of many kinds of seeds and nuts but the new kind is called : "pretty bird species specific" but its looks completly different than the old food its more like dry cat food many pieces in many colours there is no seeds or nuts in it. I feed Noah the new food i just descriped for you and its available for him at all time beside that i give him few almonds and peanuts and different kinds of vehgtables. Is this a normal diet for him or not good ? thanks alot Zahra

I think its very healthy for them to get many stimuli ofcourse you can start with few minutes walks then longer Walks. But the area i live in is so dead and quiet, i was hoping that he will meet other people in our way thats how you can make them more flexible by exposing them for new experience. Zahra
-
You can tell they get very happy for being out because they forget everything about the harness once you are out, and noah became much nicer to me outside not as moody as he is inside. So i really recommend that you take your bird for a walk sometimes. Zahra

My CAG was also clipped before i got him when he was 3 months old but he is doing very fine, so i dont think you need to be concerned about it
-
I didnt know there was different kinds of harness in the market, it was extremely easy to put fether tether on Noah and it didnt seem to bother him but my concern is the metal things on the harness, if they are too heavy and can cause uncormfort for a bird? so aviator harness dont have any metal in it ? maybe i should order the other one ?? Zahra

The earlier your get him used to harness the better, use treats and get him used to be touched under his wings and im sure it will work out..
-
Today i took Noah for a little walk, i used the feather Tether harness, it was vert easy to put on him in the begining i was worried that he will bite me but he didnt do that at all but a week before i started getting him used to be touched under his wings. In the begining he was biting the harness but once we were out he forgot everything about it so it was a very good experience will try to go out with him tomorrow too! Zahra

My 15 Week old CAG won't accept me
SarahDavid replied to tonyg8s's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
No Noah our baby CAG was from begining very soft and gentle as the breeder also told us, he was only 3 months when we got him, i think they have different personalities like humans and some need more time than other to settle down but birds want things to be in THEIR way its not always he wants to be touched you have to learn to respect his wish, but Noah doesnt become agressive when you approach him when he is not in mood for that, but you can tell he doesnt want you to and im trying to listen to him more.. good luck to you Zahra -
i see. i hope its not sign of uncomfort...
-
My CAG is also in the bigger size i think..
-
Thanks for the pictures u sent me, i really doubt the reason is the height of bowl my perches is placed heigh enough i think, but im gonna also replace them with other better perches. By the way your grey looks very cute and happy:)
-
The perch that came along with his cage measures about 0.8 inch diameter is it too small for an African grey? and thats why he sleeps on his feeding bowls ?? Zahra

Bath with regular water or with something else?
