I think this was my first favourite love song. It reminds me of the summer my bf (now husband) was in Germany with his Army Cadet Corp, and I was missing him something awful. 10 CC's "I'm Not In Love" I'm not in love, so don't forget it It's just a silly phase I'm going through And just because I call you up Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made I'm not in love, no-no (It's because...) I like to see you, but then again That doesn't mean you mean that much to me So if I call you, don't make a fuss Don't tell your friends about the two of us I'm not in love, no-no (It's because...) (Be quiet, big boys don't cry) (Big boys don't cry) (Big boys don't cry) (Big boys don't cry) (Big boys don't cry) (Big boys don't cry) (Big boys don't cry) I keep your picture upon the wall It hides a nasty stain that's lyin' there So don't you ask me to give it back I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me I'm not in love, no-no (It's because...) Ooh, you'll wait a long time for me Ooh, you'll wait a long time Ooh, you'll wait a long time for me Ooh, you'll wait a long time I'm not in love, so don't forget it It's just a silly phase I'm going through And just because I call you up Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made, ooh I'm not in love, I'm not in love...

I have a lot of favourites, but this is always the one that comes to mind first: Air Supply's "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" I know just how to whisper, And I know just how to cry; I know just where to find the answers; And I know just how to lie. I know just how to fake it, And I know just how to scheme; I know just when to face the truth, And then I know just when to dream. And I know just where to touch you, And I know just what to prove; I know when to pull you closer, And I know when to let you loose. And I know the night is fading, And I know that times gonna fly; And Im never gonna tell you everything Ive got to tell you, But I know Ive got to give it a try. And I know the roads to riches, And I know the ways to fame; I know all the rules And then I know how to break em And I always know the name of the game. But I dont know how to leave you, And Ill never let you fall; And I dont know how you do it, Making love out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all, (making love) Out of nothing at all, (making love) Out of nothing at all, (making love) Out of nothing at all, (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all. Every time I see you all the rays of the sun Are streaming through the waves in your hair; And every star in the sky is taking aim At your eyes like a spotlight, The beating of my heart is a drum, and its lost And its looking for a rhythm like you. You can take the darkness from the pit of the night And turn into a beacon burning endlessly bright. Ive got to follow it, cause everything I know, well its nothing till I give it to you. I can make the run or stumble, I can make the final block; And I can make every tackle, at the sound of the whistle, I can make all the stadiums rock. I can make tonight forever, Or I can make it disappear by the dawn; And I can make you every promise that has ever been made, And I can make all your demons be gone. But Im never gonna make it without you, Do you really want to see me crawl? And Im never gonna make it like you do, Making love out of nothing at all. (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love)

I run a hot bath, and work on a Sudoku puzzle. I've fallen to sleep in the tub as a result, but fortunately I'm too tall to drown in it. :laugh:

Greys can take a long time to settle in and learn to enjoy their new life, so patience and love are your best "weapons." I'd like to recommend Barbara Heidenreich's books: 'Good Bird!' and 'the Parrot Problem Solver,' the advice she offers through these books is excellent and very clearly spelled out. She has some very good techniques for reducing the volume and amount of screaming that many birds exhibit. Parrots are all individuals, and can be very different from one another. If you expected a Grey to be the same as your Yellow Nape Amazon, then I think you've learned (the hard way?) that there is no similarity between the two species, other than they both have feathers and beaks. I also recommend Bobbi Brinker's 'For the Love of Greys.' Greys are very different from Amazons. They are more cautious, and take a long time to warm up to someone new. They are also very intelligent and sensitive, so it's best to err on the side of caution when handling or trying to handle a "new to you" Grey. Please go to the Welcome forum and introduce yourself and your new companion parrot. If you can post any photos, we'd love to see your bird. Don't despair about the Grey's behaviour, it is something you can influence, but it will require some dedication on your part, and a lot of patience.<br><br>Post edited by: M2MM, at: 2008/07/01 20:28

Kumiko hated showers/baths for months, until he realized that no matter how much he ran from the spray, it was going to get him anyway! Now, he runs towards the spray bottle. :laugh: He still can get cranky, if he's in the wrong mood to get wet, but at least he sees the bottle as the bad guy and not me. When he's in a good mood, he will fluff and flap (while on his rope perch) and present all his various body parts to the spray. It's weird getting 'mooned' by a Grey.

I'm assuming that you weigh your baby every morning (after the first poop of the day). Is Charlie maintaining weight, losing, or gaining? I've found, quite by accident, that Kumiko LOVES sugar snap peas above all else (they are very sweet), and he really enjoys a bit of fresh mango. So, in order to get him eating, I use these ingredients amongst other foods that I want him to eat. This seems to help. I also have learned not to overwhelm him with too much food at one time. He eats better when there is less in the bowl to begin with. He still can't eat it all, but he makes the effort. I hope this is helpful.

Sounds like they are training you up the way they want you. LOL Grey slaves need a lot of work, and our Greys are more than willing to put in the time required. :laugh: Glad your luck is holding.

It's very difficult to wean a parrot properly. My TAG arrived "fully weaned" at 5 1/2 months, but within a month he stopped eating and needed to be handfed again, my vet had to help me learn how to do it (did a great job too) and he eventually recovered from whatever was ailing him (we never did figure it out before he was all better again), but then I was struggling to wean him myself. My vet went away on an extended holiday (burn-out related) and chose not to come back from the Carribean. So, I was stuck, until the clinic was able to recruit another avian vet. Kumiko wasn't fully weaned until he was nearly 14 months old. I tell my story any time someone buys an unweaned or very young "fully weaned" baby parrot, with the misinformation that handfeeding is "fun" and weaning is "easy." Thank you, I will put away my soapbox now. {Communicate-00020115}

Incredible photographs! Very sorry for your sudden, and unexpected loss. My heartfelt condolences.

Marvelous photos of the horses and your TAG! I would almost swear that they were pictures of Kumiko (minus the orange stains on his face from palm oil! LOL)

I think this question is probably best left for your vet. He/She will be able to give you more accurate advice since he/she will be able to exam your bird, and not just make guesses about the reasons for his behaviour. :dry:

judygram wrote: There's nothing wrong with NOT using a night light. Not all birds get night frights. Mine have only "startled" once of twice and really don't need them. BUT, we live in a log home so it is VERY dark at night inside, and the night lights save our toes from harm when we can't (or don't want to) put on the lights.

My birds all have a small cage for sleeping. So I understand what you mean by mini-cage. They each have an Adventure Pack that they sleep in at night, or when they need some quiet time. Since you need to rest, I don't see why your Grey can't take a nap too (in a small cage in the bedroom near you.) It probably would be best to cover the cage, to encourage him to take his nap. What time of day is this usually?

Hi Pat: I'll keep an eye on the local ads in case someone found him far from home.

I tried..... but I think I cracked the lens..... (jk) Actually, I don't get in front of the lens very often. But here is one that my husband "sneaked" of me with my llama a couple of years ago. I haven't changed significantly since then, a few more white hairs, a few less pounds (maybe?)

I can't imagine the stress of having a baby CAG die! You must have been absolutely sick. It makes me very sad to think of it. {Feel-bad-00020072}

I'm inclined to think it's a trick of the light. Refraction of light can make feathers look darker than they are. Kumiko's ear feathers appear darker but aren't actually darker.

Welcome! And, thank you for taking on a "pre-owned" parrot. There are way too many parrots that are in rescues and not enough people willing to take them on due to their "baggage." Hi hope you get on well with your Grey! {Feel-good-000200BB}

Cute name! You're not a 500-pound canary are you? LOL {Feel-good-0002006E}
