  1. Don't be sorry for having a little rant Summer - most all of us here feel the same way! I often have alook on preloved and similar sites over here and it's just so sad. I have to say as well, when I was looking into getting a grey, not one person I spoke to, breeder or otherwise, mentioned any of the mess, noise, bites, attitude or a million other little things I've discovered since getting Alfie. I think all these things should be disclosed up front so any potential bird owner knows 100% what they are getting into! Would it have put me off if I'd known? Absolutely not - well probably not, but it still would have been nice to have had both the positives and negatives beforehand.

  3. Alfie can be at the other end of the house and if I try to sneak into the cookie jar she's there! She never seems to react if we're up at night though.

  8. Thanks - I love it when it's all fluffy like this, I'm dreading the melt too tho Jill - mud, mud and more mud!! Last night I dreamt that it rained all night and when we got up the snow was gone - When I woke I had high hopes!! Alas it wasn't to be!! More snow and freezing fog just offshore!! I also dreamt I received a white dove in the post. Don't supppose that'll happen either!
  9. Lol - yes Alfie likes to get her own way and she is definitly the boss (she thinks!!)

  20. A Moment before this was taken Alfie had swooped on my head and pulled my hair - pure high jinx but she was going to get a little time out anyway. Well I didn't have the heart after this little performance! She's such a clown! xx
  21. Amazing birds - I would love to see one in real life! But not in a zoo! Thanks for this Sheila! I'm dead jealous! I'd love to go on a horseback safari! I once read that if you're on safari and your horse bolts, let it! There's a good reason!!
  22. Thanks Dave, very informative. Really, an Amazon just requires a lot of the same treatment as a Grey, diet, tlc, quality time, patience and patience etc! I think if I were looking for my first bird now I would be torn between a Grey and an Amazon. Will stick with my one Grey at the minute though!! She's quite enough for me to cope with!
  23. Gee whiz! It's blowing a blizzard here again. Let's all think positive warm sunny thoughts! See if that works!
