Wow that's lovely! How did you ventilate it? At the top or is that mesh on the sides? Nice anayway!

Lol yes - that just about covers it !! Couldn't agree more though, and Jill's right, a legally binding contract is neccesary I believe for all animal owners! -
The Buff faced Pygmy Parrot? How cute is that? The Bird with the largest wingspan?

Alfie has one of these too, but also shows no interest in putting them on after the fun of throwing them off. I've stopped putting them back on for her so the game is finished once they're off, but would love to see her put one back on again - I just don't know how to go about it!!

Hehe - that's about right! Leave it to the little big dog!!
-
It's true - it only takes a minute to say something nice, or tell someone they're appreciated and it's really make your day!!
-
Penny is right Jan - a day off is fine, and it was for a good reason! I didn't feel like it at all today, so I only did 15 mins on the bike, some crunches and had a glass of wine instead - it was one of those needs must days.

I'd keep an eye on him and whip him into the vet if he starts to look poorly. Hopefully he won't have eaten any.

An excellent idea from Dave. We'll look forward to hearing some more about you!
-
Ahh Janet it just seemed the right thing to do - she is a sweetheart!
-
Boy do they love earrings!! Alfie does and she can whip one out without my even knowing it! Janet's right though, consistencey is the key - it may take a while but you'll get there in the end. Alf loves to sit on a knee of an eveing and just chillout with us!

Debbie, so sorry to hear you are going through this. It is one of the hardest things, watching someone you love turn into someone you can't love. David and I are close to an addict, and it's the same story - lies lies and more lies, they tell you what you want to hear. I do believe once an addict always an addict, but that doesn't mean an addict can't change. Many many people overcome their addictions but they may always battle the urge to hit the bottle or take a pill or whatever. I also believe that for an addict - as long as they have someone there to pick up the pieces,ie family or a loved one they can manipulate, they will never take the steps to sort themselves out - it's easier not to. Like you say though, you love the man but not the druggie - it's easy for us to say move on - but we're looking from the outside. Good luck with whatever you decide - you know there will always be someone here to have a chinwag with. x

Hi weewendy. Congrats on getting your baby. At 17 weeks Cheeko's bites won't really be bites, are they? They tend to use their beaks alot for finding their way around - kind of and extra hand! I wouldn't let her (I assume she's a she? You call her "it" alot) sit on your head though, that may be her trying to assert her autority over you! As a rule, in the animal kingdom, the highest head is the boss!! Also, as 17 weeks, she is still very much a baby, so be careful how you push her off you're head - babies are easily hurt. If you want her to get along with all the family, it is very important that she be socialised with them all from a young age. If you can all share her chores, feeding cleaning etc, she will become much more used to everyone. That being said, greys will very much choose who they want to bond with, and if your grey decides that you are "the one", you should feel priveleged and enjoy it for what it is - favouritism!! Enjoy your baby - she is surely precious!

Post edited by: pearllyn, at: 2010/01/27 00:59

You are so lucky to be your grey's "chosen one"! I know a lot of people don't allow their greys on their shoulders. Is there any reason in particular you don't want him there? Alfie is allowed on our shoulder when she is behaving, but loses her shoulder priveleges when she is in "that" mood! They go up there because it's where they feel safe - I don't know of any real tricks to keep them off - just perserverance, and a bit of luck that your will may be stronger than his!

Is absolutely nothing at all!! It's only fair that I sing her praises when she is being good, as I whine about her often enough when she's not! It has to be said though, she is being a little angel at the moment and we just love her to bits! The biting has all but stopped, she's warming up to me big style, and though David is still her favourite, she seems to come to me for tickles and she likes me to tuck her in at night! She's just lovely and it's a real pleasure to be part of her flock! Hope you and yours are all well! Lyn & Alfie xx

He really is a stunner Pat - and so playful! I loved the bit where you said "Fergie must you?", and she went quiet for a split second then continued! Lol - yes, she must!! But then she was quiet again so was just having the last word!! Chatot is beautiful and his peekaboo games are just lovely to watch. Thanks for sharing.
