  1. Great article David, thanks! Very interesting read, I learned a lot.
  2. Glad to hear you both had a good time. I love to take walks and have been thinking of buying a pack like that for my Grey so she can go along, now I think I will.
  3. My Lacey doesn't try to compete with the TV or radio but when I get out the vacuum its game on. It's hilarious and she doesn't let up until I turn it off. I never thought I would look forward to vacuuming but her antics make it fun.
  4. Yikes! Poor little guy. That is one disadvantage of belonging to an internet forum where we're all scattered across the earth. If we were neighbors I'm sure we'd all gather together and help you rescue him. Thank you for your efforts to help him and please keep us posted. Karma to you!
  5. What fun he's having! I also enjoyed the video of Dayo playing in his bath, too cute! Thanks for sharing!
  6. SWEET!! Precious, precious! Thanks for posting.
  7. I'm with you, David. I can't help but kiss and cuddle my Grey! And she loves it as much as I do. We do it often and they are tender moments I wouldn't trade for the world. I went to a parrot behavior seminar hosted by PEAC (Parrot Education & Adoption Center) and she said to try to avoid overpetting only on the parrots back because it can trigger sexual behavior (expectations) and frustration. She said it shouldn't be a problem prior to sexual maturity.
  8. What an adorably sweet story, thanks for sharing. It would be great to catch that on video.
  9. I debated getting coverage for Lacey, but elected instead to set aside a comfortable amount into a savings account for that purpose when I got her. I deposit money into it monthly. She had a wellness check yesterday that cost nearly $400.00! Normally I would cringe at that but it was painless thanks to her savings account.
  10. Wow! Dan, my heart goes out to all of you! What an absolutely terrifying event, and I wish you all a speedy recovery. One question: What has been Dayo's reaction to any visual contact she has had of your dogs since the incident? Has she heard them barking, ect.? Again, my heart goes out you all!
  11. That's hilarious! Thanks for sharing!
  12. Thanks for finding this site! It has lots of fun, cheap, easy ideas. Before long, I'm going to have to build an addition on my home to accomodate all of Lacey's toys! Congrats, Twosteph, on the upcoming arrival of your new family member! Lacey joined my family in June and I cannot imagine life without her! I hate to tell you, but the next 4 weeks until your bird's arrival is going to D R A G on! Might as well make toys!
  13. I am so, so, so sorry! There are no words. I am sickened that a breeder would treat living beings this way! As JudyGram posted, he is over the rainbow bridge now. And he clearly sees your deep love for him and will be with you.
  14. I saw the pictures you posted in the photo album, papasilverdule, how adorable! She looks completely comfortable with you, my Lacey does not like to be on her back. My CAG, Lacey is 9 months and isn't talking yet...but tries...and I could swear the other day she told me to "eat shower"??! I always tell her to 'eat supper' and every day she showers with me and I repeat 'take shower' over and over. So, who knows...
  15. Lacey is still just a wee thing at 9 months but is definately trying to talk. Her big thing is what we've coined "copy cat". She'll whistle and wait for us to copy her, then she'll progress to a longer series of whistles, more of a song...and again, wait for us to repeat exactly what she did. This will go on for a half hour or more! It's funny..if we get it wrong or start laughing (which is common, as it's sooo cute to hear her) then she'll repeat the same whistle, sort of her way of saying, "nope, listen more closely and try again"! We had company for Christmas and the little ham had the whole room involved in her game of Copy Cat..she clearly loved it! She was standing tall on top of her cage and her voice was loud and proud, like a professor taking command of the classroom. Everyone fell in love with her (of course). So, in my house...she is clearly teaching US to speak her language. Driving in the car the other day we found ourselves whistling her little whistles she's trying so hard to teach us. Gotta love 'em!
  16. My heart goes out to you Jessica. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
  17. Good thread. Lacey is scheduled for a 6 month wellness check on Jan 10th. I think I'll ask her vet to remove her band. She's such a little monkey, I'm afraid it might get caught.
  18. Great idea! It's now on my shopping list.
  19. Aww, what sweet photos! Thanks for sharing!

  21. That's fantastic! I've been brainstorming ideas to make Lacey a nice homemade stand and this one just about takes the cake. Nice work!
