thats exactly what I thougt.. maybe best to used in a massive open space such as a heath - I have one near me but still - u dont have much control as u do with the short one..... i agree with u on that one - i may still get but am a bit apprehensive now... thanx for advice...xx

he loves his harness now take him out on it when nice weather...... just want to get a extension for it now too..anyone tried this - I am worried about him going 40feet in sky.... cause he isant as easy to handle then.... not within close range to grab if need be.... hmmmmmmm any recommendations...? x

what age do they usually molt for the first time - & do they lose all feathers - will he go bald - the books I haveat mo dont say anything in depth about this sorry....xx

heyyyyyy... havent been on here for a while so hiya folks... Sensei is doing fab - he says bad boy now & bad bad boy - been singing bad boy (bird) bad boy (bird) what ya gonna do what ya gonna do when they come for u.... as there r loadsa clips on u tube with greys saying that.... he picked it up a treat... I have now seen a total of 3 feathers (main ones) off sensei... they havent been pulled out from root but they have been snapped off as there half of one & u can see where it has snapped... 2 were grey & 1 was red... dont think he is plucking but he is preening an awlful lot which loks like he is pulling at his feathers - is this preening...... ruffling through there feathers with beak as though a cat would lick themselves clean.... also I need to know more about this molting/losing 1s coat as my boy if about 10mths old now - when do they lose 1st set & how long does it take to grow back... Hope to hear from u all soon.. its great to be back :-) Emz....xx

I heard that it can cause them stress but is this like as it does with any other animal... so nothing major just a quick, sharp pain.. like a needle to us... over ina sec... xxx

hahaha - funny posts... my boy sensei is a happy boy - whistles and garggles and quacks & ays 'oi' but that is it so far - he is 6mths old & am trying diff thigns with him every day.... I hope all these noises that he is making are positive signs in him talking in the future. I didnt buy him ust for that but considering there the only animals that can do this it would be a bonus of having one.... any tips or hints in helping him with his vocals.....xx

Can i get my boy ringed - he is 7mths old - I was told I cant get them ringged as they can only have this done when they are baby babies.... prob will have to just get him chipped anyoine done this before as was told can b distressing for them...xxxx

hmmmmm unsure the as there is the smallest amount left of his nail - seems like maybe a bit les than there was before when it just started to grow back.. it is a shame as he doesnt have as much grip with the 2 talons he has left compared to the 4 he used to have... my poor boy... anything I can do or give him to encourage it to grow back - or just his usualy vitamins etc Gosh it is a worrying thing being a grey owner nearly as bad as a parent - not that i am one of them yet but it seems just as much hard work - def all worth it though - no doubt about that...xxxxxx thanx for help once again lol...x

After having my boy sensei for about 3weeks I cam home to find his foot all twisted up in a bt of string on his parrot toy... & yes it was a toy that was actually sold as a parrot toy not a home made one.... well I had to cut it free as he had twisted it so bad... he had severed his talon/claw/nail & blood was everywhere - of course I freaked out... stopped the bleeding & bandaged him up - took him vets next day - & he had cut his vein/artery but I had stopped the bleeding - so that was him for a couple of weeks dosed up on antibiotics... & salt bathes for his foot.... well the claw that was the one which was damaged the worse.. started to heal & his claw growing back slowly but surely... well the other claw scales, skin etc had became black so we put him on some more antibiotics... that has now fallen off & cleared up - along with his other claw - so obv this was dead skin until new skin had grown back which it is now doing so... But came home today to find the claw that was orginally the worse but started to grow back had come off again - no blood just looks a little sore & even shorter than before.. I was told by someone in the know that as long as there is a tiny bit of black claw left it will grow back - on both claw ther eis a stub of nail but I am getting worried that there not going to grow back properly... can anyone advise if this has happened to them - just the missing claw thingy or if they have ever known of this & have any advise for me.. I am worried... Perhaps take him to a specialist now... xxxx

My boy sensei sits upon my head from time to time - like other ownes have said it is not good to let them do this all the time...but sensei has never yet touch wood - pooped on my head.. and sometimes like to sit up there while I am moving around as he feels apart of what I am doing so I am entertaining & involving him at the same time as doing things around my house... so its a win win situation,.. he doesnt hurt me when climbing - I always put a dressing down or something that is loose that he can easily grab hold of & grip.. as well as sunggle up in... hehehe... he if funny when he flaps when sitting on my head... flappong is a part of his dailey exercising.....xxx

do sunflower seeds act like a drug then - hmmmmm my boy must b high all the time then lol.. any suggestions as sensei doesnt like to eat diff things or what is good for him.....x

My greay - sensei is so so so fussy - will onlye eat greapes if I feed them to him - loves pommegrante seeds but doesnt pick them up off plate... I have a bowl of parrot mix (am going to change this to harrisons pellets) then the other bowl will have her fresh stuff in - I put half a coconut cut open with some pommegrante seeds & grapes in it before I left for work this morn dso hopefully he eats them - I got some palmfruit extract the other dsay thinking I can use this instead of palm nuts having not being able to get them.... it was discusting - sensei didnt take to it - it stunk the whoel house & stained everything.... wont b using that again.....xxx any tips for getting a grey to eat fresh food more - I have tried chopping fresh food up & putting in his bowl & misingit with regular food but no such luck - I am scared that he is under eating - I have got a multi vitamin spray & calcium drops for his supplements so he does get all that... but I am very worried...xxx

so what are the best pellets as eh has not had any to date that I can remember... ummm pellets - I only get the parrot mix but pellets have the goodness in specifically for them right? is this the harrisons pellets? x
