Aww so cute. Yesterday before the traumatic nail clipping..I was throwing little peices of cracker for the dog and she goes "what are you doin" and I said cookies you want a cookie and she goes NO and I said NO COOKIES??? and she said ok and flew from her cage to me and took one out of my hand lol. They crack me up so bad. She will not talk in front of anyone else though. I keep telling my mom and fiance about how she talks and they say yeh ok because she won't in front of them

I know my job has one where the sides don't stick out. But I don't work at a major chain so unless you lived in my area =. You can check ebay. I will post tomorrow after work the brand and name of it so you can look for it

Yeh, I spoke to my job and they said it probly looked a lot worse than it actually was. They say on grey's if you slightly knick it even a little too much that i will bleed a lot. Also, if the bird is very upset and their heart is pumping like crazy this will cause more blood flow. Luckily she was good enough to still let me get her paw and apply pressure with the corn starch. But I will never attempt that again!

I think it would be the day I met her. She was so mean to everyone at work, bi them didnt want to come out to them. When I tried with her she came right to me crawled up my shoulder and said hello for the first time ever it was her first word. She licked my face and was so sweet. I got emotional because she was so beautiful and she was so nice to me. Also, Because I thought she is 1100 dollars I can never afford her and I want her so bad...Then like two days later she was mine . Best day ever!

I took her scratchy perch out so that doesn't happen...I hope she doesnt make it bleed again while im not home = that would be awful..She was chewing on it a while ago...should that worry me??

yes definitely, I cannot handle that again and I definitely do not ever want to put a bird through that again. I now give anyone who does this regularly A LOT of credit! My heart could not handle such a thing.

She is being normal now eating and everything asking for snuggles she puts her head down lets me pet her and she gave me kisses and said I love you for the first time so that has to be good. Right now she is sitting on her perch clicking away and stuff but she is still holding that leg up which I guess is normal. I think I am more traumatized than she is. = The only thing that made me feel a little at ease is knowing that my manager is a guru and would rush to my house to take care of her if need be. Plus her best friend is an avian vet and could have come also. But still...I wouldn't ever want it to come to that. I will never again attempt to do that. When I get my quaker I think I am going to take him/her to my job to have them do it for me.

I was about ready to jump in the car I called my job because my manager is like a bird guru so I asked her and she said CORN STARCH!! when I tried that it worked..but it took a few attempts... I was on the verge of tears, it was awful I thought oh well one little snip of it and it will let out a little blood and that's it. Well I did a little snip it bled a tiny bit then the Nile river cam flowing out... my boor baby! She is eating some chicken now and seems happy...but deep down I know she is probly thinking "what did my mommy do to me? Why would she hurt me like that?" that makes me very sad!

ok so today I got the DNA sex test paperwork in the mail and I had posted before how I was nervous to attempt this. Well it came with instructions that seemed pretty detailed and understandable so I gave it a shot. My mom held her while I got a toe and clipped a little bit waited squeezed her toe no blood. So clipped a tiny bit more squeezed waited no blood. Then I cut a little bit more and squeezed and a little bit of blood started to come out so I stopped. I got the card and squeezed and only a tiny tiny bit of blood coming out then all of a sudden a river began. It was just pouring out of her all over me and my mom and I freaked out. I called my job and they said to use corn starch (I was using flour and it wasn't working) So I rushed and got the corn starch and it finally seems to have stopped. I think that had to be the scariest moment ever! I could hear her heart beating so loud and hard it made me nervous! I kept talking softly to her and rubbing her foot and petting her head. She seemed ok she was giving kisses and stuff but whenever you went to push the corn starch on she would try to bite and get very angry. my poor baby I will never attempt that again ever = Should it have bled that much? She is holding her leg up now like she doesn't want stand on it. I did exactly like the pictures said to do I didn't even cut that much

Yeh, my dad always goes to this one pet store and the guy was telling a story about a macaw who they kept finding on the shelves in the morning and they couldn't understand they actually fired a few people because they told them not to leave it open and the bird just kept getting out. Finally he installed a camera aimed at the cage and when they would leave for the night the bird would open the cage and come right out and help himself to things in the store. This story has me super paranoid with my bird getting out and chewing wires or getting something bad. But the way my cage locks she would need super human/bird strength to ever get it open. I am sure your bird is quite capable of opening the cage, which on one hand is bad but the other says just how smart your baby really is.

Yeh I have febreeze the pet safe one that they sell at pet smart, but I still didn't know if it was ok for the bird. I shoudl start a business making parrot safe air fresheners Ones made from all natural fruit and stuff that smells good and is completely safe for all pets. If I were home all day it wouldn't be an issue because I could let the dog out and chage the pad regularly and pick up to number 2's whenever he makes them so they don't sit there,but I work all day and I don't get home until 9 or 9:30 at night so from 8am to 9pm it sits there causing a smell...and that is too long to expect the dog not to go, he has to go. But with all of the suggestions on here I think I can solve the problem. Thank you all

Wow! Thank you that sounds awesome I will try some of that. I have used natures miracle pads and for some reason my chihuahua chews the up and leaves them scattered all over the floor not sure whats going on with that. But I will get some eucalyptus that sounds really good some of the dried herbs that leave a scent. Thank you so much I never thought of that before!

=O it's gone out the door not coming back. I love my baby way to much. I will just have to figure something else out or deal with it. I just told my boyfriend if he ever sprays his ax body spray upstairs even on the same floor as her i will throw it out. He never sprays it in the same room ever but he does it in the bathroom and its strong and the smell travels so no more nope!!! Thank you guys for your help!!

Wow! I am so sorry = My job charges 4 bucks for wings and nail clipping and they never make them bleed. I would have smacked her around a little bit cut her nails really short and sent her packing. That is a vet that I can't stand only in it for the money and to milk people and they really don't know or care too much about what they are doing. I would call and report her to someone and tell them how rude she was and how she made your baby bleed. I would ask for a partial if not full refund for the treatment and service you received. I am sure she has to have a boss or someone you can complain to. Sorry you had to go through that =( Melanie

Oh yes "that's a no no" "Bad birdie" "danger" these are said often just five minutes ago I yelled danger because Kika was attempting to pull a picture frame off of the wall and that is a big no no. Also I don't know if anyones bird makes a noise where you place your tounge on the roof of your moth and create a click of some sort. But I find myself now using this randomly in public or at work when seeing animals..I even call my dog with it now..We are not owners of grey's but ownder by greys lol.

Ok first lets start out with my room really smells..I have a dog that has his little gate area with his wee wee pad in there and his food and stuff for the day and then the bird cage..and I think everyone can understand that when a dog uses a wee wee pad for the day in a closed room and having a bird a smell can grow. I bought a plug in oil air freshener from bath and body works and I was wondering if using this will hurt my grey. I won't use it in this room if that is the case. I can't move the dog stuff out because the only other place is the kitchen and it is really really cold in there during the day so I don't want my dog to get sick. If this air freshener is not safe what kind can I buy that is ok. I have only heard that the sprays are bad but I haven't heard anything about oils, I don't know if there is a difference. lol I would love to buy the bird from her but that's only if she is comfortable with shipping to me and all that. Who knows maybe in the spring I can have another new baby I'm getting myself all excited lol.

I didn't call any of them yet. I know my job gets quakers in in a couple of months but we never get blue ones in =. It really doesn't matter if it's blue or not but with my job they don't DNA sex test them and they don't give any paperwork at all with them. I kind of want to go through someone who has a passion for birds..not just a store having a passion for money. What time of year do you ship, spring? How much is your quaker? If you don't have anyone local interested maybe I could send you a deposit through paypal to reserve him/her if you would be interested in shipping the bird and if it would not be too stressful on the bird.
