1. Bill went to get our newest family member it was a 5 hour drive and with 3 kids with a cold it wasn't something I was going to be able to do.. Bill got down to the breeders he called me he asked how heartbroke I would be if we didn't get our baby. He told me also about an adult breeder pair who was friendly but the female has stripped and plucked herself horribly (The lady said it was the male we have found out other wise) and how she was starting on the male. They were for sale and he thought they should come home with us.. So after working out the finacial part( even more money) The lady sent them home with Bill . I am happy to have them here with me and devestated as I have sat here for the last couple hours watching the female pluck herself and strip her beautiful feathers. They look dirty.. I thought with the last few years of my life I would be prepaired for anything to do with animals in distress...We take in rescues of every kind of animal. Fix them up and find them forever homes... But I havn't seen the bird I have always wanted so scared and stressed. We have pulled the nesting box that came on there cage off and we have already started puting fruits and veggies in there food dish. They are on Pretty Bird Diet. The breeder stated that they were on a mostly all pellet diet. There arn't hardly any thing that resembles pellets.. Don't get me wrong if others like this diet it is totally upto them. She has given them only oranges for fruit no veggies. She told bill the male was doing the plucking I don't honestly think he is I have seen her pick him and her pick herself. They are sweet and loving but terrified of us. I am sorry this is kinda all over the place but I am worried and a little stressed. I have read about pluckers. I have read about the aloe spray we will try tonight sometime if they have settled down a bit. I am going to take pictures and post them. I am off to order a better diet online. I guess I am needing support more than anything. It is one thing to rescue the animals I have.. Its a complete other to see your dream so scared and stressed that they are all torn up. 2. That is so adorable! I got to hold my first quaker parrot the other day. I really want one I think though I would have to have one of each  Well maybe sometime in the future I could get a couple.. They are awesome little feathered kids I will one day have some..
3. Teri I know what you mean. Up until now it has always been me picking birds not the other way around. Sarg screams when I leave the room and flies to find me even though his wings are clipped.. I have no doubt NOW that birds can pick their people.. Judy Sunny is a cute name and I think you can get a vibe from birds. I one day want to own a Sun of my very own. The guy we got Sarg from has a really beautiful sun. I love watching all Conures play goof around and just be themselfs! I didn't get the antics as much with Stewie he was really old and only with me a short time.. Just long enough to steal my heart.. Sarg is doing amazing things I have repeated saying step up over and over till now he makes noises that almost sound like he is saying it! He also loves to just be with me which I love! I will post pictures soon. We are still trying to convince our middle child that it is way past bedtime!
4. I love conures there is just something about them! BTW Sun's are so breath takingly beautiful.. I guess I don't have to tell you that huh:P I think he truely did pick me. I think I am so the lucky one to be blessed with this little man. I will try get pictures tonight.. He runs his head up and down my face to get me to give scratches. What is the name of your Sun?? She sounds like a real sweetheart! ~hugs~ Kitty
5. Ok so I go to drop off some baby hedgehogs to their new owner and I meet this parrot.. He is sweet and babbles something in my ear. We spend most of the time while I am at this very nice man's house with all his pretty parrots and I can't get this little conure off me. He is so cute his name is Sarg. He is a five yr old Nanday Conure. He said he had bought him at the age of 3 and he had never really bonded with anyone. I felt so sad for the lonely bird that never really had anyone. Needless to say as I type this he sits grooming me and wispering sweet gibberish in my ear. I know I am getting a grey tomorrow but the man said he couldn't allow me to go home with out him. Sarg he said was the happiest he had ever seen him. I think their is something wrong with me! This is so not my fault:) ~hugs~ Kitty & Sarg!

Post edited by: Bailey, at: 2008/01/28 02:04

10. So you own both the greens and the blues?? Have you noticed eithers high points or low points.. I have read that the blues are less vocal but more sweet and the greens are loud, talkative and tend to be tempramental.. I would love to hear your imput on these little guys and gals.
11. Anyone else feel scared before bringing home your grey?? I swear I have a million emotions going on.. It is comparable to having my human kids.. Honestly I didn't know I would be worried so much that everything is ready. I have checked and rechecked my list of stuff that will be needed and rearranged the cage at least ten times  I am excited and happy defiantly BUT I can't sleep! I feel kind of excited and queasy all at the same time I know that sounds crazy.. What did everyone else feel like before you all got your grey's?
12. I have looked into getting a quaker some day I heard they are wonderful little sweeties. plus they are cute!! I mean look at that little face!
13. Hello Everyone! I am new to this forum.. And to being owned by a grey. I have been doing research for years in hopes of one day getting my own grey! When I say years it has been a almost 4 yr journey in trying to decide if one would fit my life style. I don't own one yet but Monday is the big day{Feel-good-000200A2}!!! I am hoping all my studying has paid off.. Oh I should probably add something about me.. I am a 27 yr old mom to 3 kids (All animal lovers and very sweet to all creatures).I have been owned previously by a conure named stewie he was a rescue and very old. He passed a quite a few years ago. I currently am owned by cockatiels and lovebirds.. Hopefully one day soon I will own another conure. I live in the awesome state of Nebraska where I run an at home business. I think that is enough of me for now I can't wait to get to know all of you!
