Yay! Thank you.. This gives me even more motivation to quit! I sorry I havn't responded in a couple days we just got in 2 very sick chinchillas and an injured lovebird along with trying to keep up with my kids and Sam and Shay I've been a bit busy. Thank you again!!

I have a question about Sarg (Nanday Conure). Any Ideas on how to enforce the commands I give him. I can take him off me and put him back on his perch a thousand times a day and he keeps flying to me( I know he loves me and really wants to be with me). This flying to me isn't always safe if I am working in the kitchen or trying to tend to other things around the house where birds shouldn't be flying at you. His wings are clipped but being he is a farly strong little guy he can make it atleast 10 or 12 feet if not more. I also have trouble when it is time to get him off me he will get mad and bite. I am not in the least bit scared of him be he continues to bite and throw fits when its time to come off my shoulder. Any and all ideas welcome. I really love him and his personality just needing to work on a few little things.We don't want him to have to spend his life caged we think that him being as smart as he is it wouldn't be good for his mental well being.<br><br>Post edited by: Bailey, at: 2008/02/03 21:59

Laurie you inspired me to post and ask for a section for us smokers...Well I am working upto it I really want to quit not just for my kids and animals but for myself. I just need to do it and I will pick a day in the next two weeks to quit and then we will see how well it goes! Hey Fidmom welcome to the forum.. Have you considered a bird rescue there are lots of birds that have been previously loved and for one reason or another there owners had to give them up. Not all rescue birds came from awful backgrounds.. Most are just looking for someone to love them again! Another plus is they can already tell you if the bird would fit with your family and its likes and dislikes.. Just a thought . I think its a neat idea its a ready made family member just add love!

Thanks for the support guys. She is currently on Pretty Bird I am trying to switch Them over to Roudy Bush Pellets so far not much luck she is pretty set in eating simply nuts. She has a small window of veggies/fruits that she will eat. I don't have a working camcorder due to my son wanting to take a video. I do however have a new digital camera that takes 20 min with audio. I will try borrow a friends so I can make a video of her when I leave and for her of myself. I thought of making an audio recording on my computer but I suppose it would work better with a visual. I do appreciate everyone's support. we have tons of toys and old phone books with the whole thought of plucking parrot in mind. I thank you for the suggestions. She does really well when I am home which anymore with the weather I usually am.

Well Shay has started again.. She has been plucking like mad since I got home 45 min ago. I had to run to the store.. I get home to let her out and she she is striping and plucking like crazy.. This is horrible news she was actually starting to grow more feathers back.. I can't figure it out. could it be because this is the first day I have left her for any extended amount of time?? Sadly I wlll be seperating Sam and Shay tonight I was trying to avoide it at all cost because they seem to really love and want each other.. She has ripped out a good chuck of the new fether growth on herself and now she is working on whats left of Sams beautiful feathers. Ok I notice that A. There are some people trying to loose weight on this forum and B. There is a subforum of sorts for them to post on.. What about us smokers could we get a little quit smoking support post sticky of our own??I have noticed allot of us wanting to try or even just thinking about it. I know we could all be great motiviaton and support to one another. Just a suggestion. Let me know what you mod type people think. OMG" :laugh: Thats ok hun Bill tells me even if I didn't smoke I would still be one of those I have several friends who have used the Chantex with awesome results. Although now they can't stand the smell of smoke. I have smoked long enough I know it isn't just the nicotine addiction its the addiction to the habit aswell. My children (human ones) and I are the only ones I know personally who LOVE sweet potatos so I am excited to see how the feathered kids like them. I am having a hard time convincing them that they should like veggies the only thing they will eat veggie wise is carrots. So we are working on that also.

nope they are a bonded pair I havn't seperated them due to the fact that they really love one another. I feel it would cause Shay more stress and anxity. I might concider it in the future when she is more secure in herself and in her new home.. If it seem as though she isn't making the progress we think she should be I will remove her also if he is enabling her inscurtiy we will takes steps then.
