Too cute! He is a little doll!

I use a vinegar solution and a scrubbie sponge. Some people use a mild bleach solution, bleach makes me sick so I use vinegar.

Yea, I about had a heart attack at some of the cage prices and toward the end of the day they were discounting them more. I got Greyce's cage for about 1/2 what I could find it anywhere else and they were cheaper there. Hec, there was one bigger than hers that was less! She will be getting upsized later this year...then I guess I will need a smaller bird for her cage. Any suggestions on one that isn't too loud for an apartment? Maybe a red bellied poi.?

There is a bird show about every month here in the metro atlanta area. There are two groups that put them on the most. While I don't agree with everything that goes on there (breeder birds lined up on tables, terrified at all the children and people pointing and looking at them, the disease risk, ect) there are some great finds. You can generally tell the really good breeders, they rarely have birds with them. But, the deals on cages and toys! WOW!! Today I got Greyce a boing, a large rope perch, some balls, a big bell, a chain toy, a forage cage toy, a bag of Harrison's bird food and another toy and a couple of toys for my mom's p'lets all for under $60. Spoiled girl!!!

Too bad you aren't in Atlanta Ronda, I'd watch her for you if you were. I would say you really only have two options for your family's sanity. 1. Look into a qualified pet sitter, I don't know about where you are but here in Atlanta we have several that are qualified to do birds as well. You may even call your vet and see if they have any recommendations. 2. Is to like someone else said, have your brother come and visit so she can get to know her. And just tell him what he can and can't do. And tell him why he can't do the things you don't want him to. Then give him a detailed, but simple form of what needs to be done everyday. A list of the absolute don'ts and of course your vets number just in case. I usually include a check off sheet for each day so their isn't any confusion. I know it's hard to leave!! I am trying to figure out a way to visit my friends and bring lily and greyce both. I wish they made some two compartment carry on carrier for animals LOL

That is great Ronda!!!:cheer: I know exactly how you feel! I had Greyce in my lap tonight and I just want to pet her so bad I can't stand it. I can't wait till we get there. You don't bore me at all, I know exactly how you feel. Everytime you hit a milestone you just want to tell someone that cares at minimum a quarter as much as you do. You'll be giving her Scritches daily in no time!

Welcome to the flock!! I'm somewhat new myself and can tell you these guys are the best!! Patience will be your friend with Lila (cute name by the way!) I just got Greyce in January and it has been baby steps all the way, but it is so worth it. Every little step makes me want to do a jig!! It's just been in the past few weeks that she lets me hold her. You will get there. I did find some useful information in the Second Hand Parrot book, I ordered from Amazon. I know a good deal about birds, but a re-home was a whole new ball park for me.

When you talk to your friends like they are your bird "Want Salad?" or when you say things in public like "UhOh!" in a silly voice when you drop something in public! -

Dang it!! She said it again, when I was half asleep!! I woke up early, early this morning and needed a bathroom break:blink: I softly padded off to the bathroom so as not to wake any of the critters, then back to bed and I was drifting off as I heard it again coming from the living room, followed by her soft Wooooo...ARG!!:pinch:

I agree with Berna, I would look at some preening toys. I would also maybe look at a smaller sleeping cage maybe with some preening toys in it. A smaller space could possibly be somewhat of a comfort...but, it could also go the other way. It's hard when it is this type of cause because it really is trial and error. If you are only putting him in the cage at bedtime, do you cover at bedtime? That may help as well if you don't. I am sure others will have ideas as well. Good luck!!

Has it constantly been like this? If not, how long has it been like this? Has it been missing the white stuff?

Talon, your sister's pictures were lovely!! I'm so glad that some of you found my dorky tidbit interesting! -
Well, I believe Greyce actually made her first attempt in front of me of saying a word! Problem is, I wasn't paying attention and didn't hear what it was. She was very demanding of attention last night and this morning. She has my Chihuahua's (Lily) "help mom, I'm stuck" call down. When I started to go outside with the dogs, she started making it over and over last night. Everytime I would start to leave the living room she would start it and it would continue until I came back. This morning it was if I left, or if I wasn't paying direct attention to her. Then she made the kissing noise (another new one)...well, she just kept going on and on and then I heard something diffrent and it sounded a whole lot like a word attempt. I got all excited and started talking to her and nothing. Then as soon as I went back to the work I had to do before I got out the door for work, she did it again. Dern it!! I was in tune out mode both times:P But, it's wonderful to even hear her try. I hadn't really counted on her ever so much as trying to speak words with her horrible start during her developing time. It's a huge bonus!! On a side note, she has been much more concerned with my attention. Sunday she didn't even want to go back to her cage, she wanted to stay with me!:silly: :cheer: Her new favorite game with mommy is to sit with a jug of wood balls, blocks, ect and take each one out, throw it and then once they are all out, have me put them back in and start all over:silly: Thanks so much for letting me share!!

Yea, she is the belle of the chicken coop too!

I don't really know the sutulties of Conures, I've known Cockatoos that exhibited those types of behaviors. I've known several birds that would get the rainy day blues if they had enough natural light. Sorry I can't be more help!

What a lovely family you have! Thanks so much for sharing with us!

Has your baby been to the vet yet? If not you may want to go ahead and make an appointment. They will be able to tell you if he is underweight or not. As well and make sure that he doesn't have any underlying problems.

I have been sharing this with everyone, because I personally thought it was soooo cool! Granted, I am a huge dork...but, someone might think it is as cool as I do...maybe? Well, here it was a total eclipse and once the moon was blocked it glowed red. I was curious as why it glowed red, so I did a little research. Turns out that at that point the only light it was reflecting was the light that was passing around the earth's sides. That light was the combined light of every sunrise and every sunset occuring at that time. So that beautiful red glow was you watching all the sunrises and sunsets occuring on the earth.

There are no silly questions...though I do sometimes give silly answers:P Sounds like you guys are progressing nicely! Your baby is exhibiting pretty normal behavior, you have nothing to worry about. Sounds like once he is good and settled in he will be talking up a storm!
