guys i think he ment if it can be left alone for three days with someone else's supervision for them to go on a vacation personally id take it with you if i can but if its a family visit of some sort as long as u leave it with a friend and not more than two days its fine ''they have to shower him with attention'' my parrot used to get hella nippy at me me if i left for two days ''field trips with the school'' sometimes would even go as far as ignoring me giving me the '''i dont know where uve been for todays i cant be f*ed to care about u lol '' so yah it depends on the situation there was this thread somewhere on the fourm that discuss how long other members have left thier bird with a friend or by it self...ill do a search and post it for you....but from mwhat i heard greys can be bad behaviour prone..and who knows what could happen if u leave it by with someone elses care for a couples of days if its bonded to you...just read a few things in this thread ull be able to understand why everyone is so serious about this...feather plucking comes to mind
-
i looked at one of those articles ur describing sandy on this popular website too..but even they said its 50 50 and not fool proof ..usually its 25 dollers to sex ur bird the other 5 or so is for shipping and all that jazz..set some money aside im sure its worth it

ill let the other much more experienced members awnser this you might have missunderstood it maybe? my baby ringneck was very curious as he was weaning..and he naturally got the idea to use the perch ''mind you it had to be put very close to the bottom of the cage'' where did u read that?...thats my experience.. im not sure if they get paralyzed..
-
thanks danmcq! were def planning to go there as of now she doesnt really have babies..well she does thyre weaned but thyre all spoken for...but she still invited me to take a look at her aviray..its 10 hours away from vancouver but my partner is up for the drive! been wanting to go for a roadtripfor a while now will keep you posted im probebly gonna take pics..ill have to wait for a few weeks though before i go!! im still puzzeled by prices it seems its much more expensive in the uk and canada..but why not the us...they cost a fortune back where i come from around 2000..its intreasting to see the prices differ from one place to the other...it might be tighter regulations now adays?

thatwas really sad but amazing well detailed and well written at the same time i almost felt like i was there

YOU NEED TO SEPERATE THEM! females are dominate and WILL kill the male if its not breeding season..even if it is the breeding season they usually kill thier mates after thyre done!!! so please spereate them...sorry for writing in caps lol indian ringnecks can be very very stubborn when it comes to taming...you have to show your resilient....start by taking them to the vet and clipping thyre wings..after that allow them to be out of thier cage get used to thier surroundings...offer them food they are known suckers when it comes to food lol...also very territorial around thier cage ''like most birds'' but indian ringnecks i found will gaurd thier cages with thier life apart from that many times they tend to be hormonal i found around breeding season also your females maybe in transition because thyre 8months..they are introtransition to being teenagers..and will get into this stage called bluffing...they get over it if you know what to do...ill post a link ..but for now google bluffing indian ringnecks...they need to be handled all the time coz they tend to go wild if u just let them in a cage i dont claim to be an expert but I LOVE indian ringnecks ...ive handfed two..and they grw up to be excellent babies..mine however passed away..the other one is still fine and healthy with my sister good luck

id never buy an unweaned bird..its so much work and they do bond with u even if u didnt handfeed them...also ive handfeed indian ringnecks before...its a rewarding experience BUT painful i definitly did not know what i was getting into. ive already found a breeder and she invited me to her aviary im going over in the long weekend ( canadian holiday) thats not to far from now please dont get me wrong i was just arguing on prices and why was thyre a diffrence from one place to another honestly i think greys should be around 1000 dollers and up since thy are a very complicated species
-
welcome to the board buddy greys could be intimidating for a first timer , ive yet to own one and im dedicating whatever free time i have to reading more about them , but my mind is set on getting one ( owned parrots since i was a kid) even though i spent hours reading fourms here ive read about plucking..bad behaviour weaning periods life expectancy..personality..depedancy on the owner etc etc..and i still dont think im educated enough im currently waiting for some books that ive orderd (ones that were recommend by other members here in this fourm) to learn more as judy said if its ur first bird start with a diffrent species maybe a cocktiel or an indian ringneck thyre very sweet and smart..or maybe read more about them you never know...i stumbled into alot of fourms here people who just bought an african grey then they log in here really desprate and distraut because they dont know whats going on..look around ask questions here...the real members who have been here for a while will def help you out happy hunting and sorry for the essay

not at att..that actually is a good post...im paying for mine 1200 i really dont care about price...but was wondering why is it cheeper in the us? could it be that they have much more breeders there?
-
sorry if this thread has already been made but i was curious according to my research on breeders in the USA..the standard price for greys is about 700 to 900 dollers in Canada its about 1200 for a cag 1000 for a Tag... was just wondering what was your experience? i think it might be something as simple as demand.

yay i finally found a breeder thanks to fairy ! http://www.parrotsaplenty.com/ im currently on her waitlist shes very sweet and was informative...so now i just have to save up money and wait..and learn more thanks guys
-
im not in a hurry..but to find a decent breeder and be included in the waitlist sets a goal to me.
-
thanks for the email fairy! im still looking for breeders! the amount of rudeness i encountered those 3 days turned me off from some of the breeders here..the moment i mentioned my name is abdullah..jeez i realize im arabic but i wont eat you!....still looking for decent breeders..i might need to look into one in the usa..but shipping is expensive and id rather go see the breeder than have it shipped to be honest not to mention its stressful
